The Lullaby of Wolfbane
We sprint toward the inner line as the first rogue clears the broken gate.
A silver, grey wolf, lean, fast, vaults into the courtyard and snaps at a guard’s throat. Adrian hits him from the side like a battering ram, knocking him off target. The rogue skids, recovers, teeth bared.
I don’t hesitate. I slam into the rogue’s flank, jaws clamping down on fur and muscle, not a kill bite, a disable bite, then twist until he yelps and collapses, leg compromised.
A guard drops a silver net over him.
