I can feel it, thick as blood in my veins.
“This could be another crooked scheme,” I mutter, voice tense. “What if they’re working with the dragon king or—”
“The Brotherhood took an oath, Perseus. You can’t possibly doubt them,” Severus cuts in sharply, his tone firm. There’s a flicker of offense in his eyes, like he’s defending something sacred. “They’ve sworn loyalty. You know that as well as I do.”
I sigh heavily, feeling the weight of their unwavering trust. It’s true, I know it—deep down, I trust them with my life. They would die before betraying me, and I’d do the same for them. But doubts linger, stubborn and unwelcome.
