I gaped at him. “You read her books!” “Read! I love them so much!” “Really?” Liam smiled like he had struck gold. “What’s your favourite?” “All! But I enjoyed the Pink Hearts and Sunshine series more. Daren and Phoebe’s love story is my favourite, but Cain and Debra are my favourite characters. And also The Malcolm Ladies series. I’ve read just the first book and fell in love.” I ranted, and the way he stared at me, listening to my words with rapt attention, warmed my heart. It’s been too long since I’ve had a book buddy, and Liam was reminding me how nice it was to discuss a book with others who loved it also.

I wish I could slip out of here but the annoying pixie by the door is blocking me in. "Why can't we just be friends again?" Izzy asks sadly and Briar lets out a heavy sigh. "We were never friends, Izzy. That wasn't what real friendship is." She says firmly and my heart soars when she looks over at me, warmth in her eyes. Pride fills my body and I naturally gravitate towards her. I stand behind her, soaking up her closeness and letting her know I'm here if she needs me. Izzy watches our interaction before she turns on her heel and leaves us alone.

I asked, my voice laced with annoyance. Jasmine looked up from her book,her expression hilarious. She took a slurp from her juice. “I can't seem to get my hands to stay on my thighs. I can't help but feel at my best if I go through your stuff. And by the way,why do you look pissed? What are besties for if I can't go through your stuff?. What are besties for if I can't peep into my friends belongings? Is there something mysterious you don't want me to find out? Is there any anonymous love letter you are trying to hide?.”

"I don't know. Maybe. I'm terrified." She takes my hand in hers. "Hey, don't worry. We'll figure it out. But seriously speaking, your life is becoming pretty dramatic. Maybe you should consider writing a book or something," Selena jokes, trying to lighten the mood. "You could call it Zoe and the Mystery of the Creepy Stalker. I bet it would be a bestseller." I laugh at her attempt to make me feel better. "Yeah, maybe I will. I just need to figure out who the villain is first."

“There was no way I was leaving you alone in that state.” Pat lowered his eyes toward the soup. “And honestly…” Tee sighed lightly. “I didn’t trust you to be alone last night.” That made Pat’s chest tighten slightly. He didn’t respond immediately. Instead, he quietly stirred the soup with his spoon before muttering softly, “Sorry for stressing you out.” Tee scoffed. “You’re my best friend, idiot. That’s literally part of the job.” A faint smile finally touched Pat’s lips. After they finished eating, Tee gathered the empty bowls and placed them into the sink before casually leaning against the kitchen counter.

I glanced at it and saw the name of my best friend, Isabelle Foster, flashing on the screen. More than a year had passed since I last saw her. I'd heard rumors that she had fallen ill. I wondered why she was calling me right now. Could it be that something had happened to her? I desperately wanted to answer the call, but the man immediately pinned me with a wary look. "She's my best friend!" I exclaimed. "Don't worry. I won't say anything unnecessary to her." He hesitated for a few seconds before he loosened his hold around my wrist.
