“You knew exactly what you were doing. You killed them because they were getting too close to your dirty secrets, didn’t you?”
Jack stepped forward, his hand sliding into mine, gripping it tightly.
He stared down at his parents. “They’re not worth it, Vivian. Don’t waste your energy on these monsters.”
I nodded, taking a deep breath as I let his words sink in.
He was right.
They weren’t worth any more of my time, my anger. They were already paying the price for their sins.
“Let’s go,” Jack said.
“We’re done here.”
Together, we turned and walked out of the bathroom, leaving his parents behind, their weak pleas falling on deaf ears.
