I didn’t bother knocking. I pushed the door open and stormed inside. Grace was sitting in the parlor, her expression as calm and collected as ever, as if she hadn’t just been part of a murder plot. When she saw me, her lips curled into a smirk.
"Well, look who’s alive," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "I’m surprised you survived, Dawn. Maybe you’re not as weak as I thought."
I opened my mouth to speak but she cut me off with a laugh, sharp and humorless. "Oh please, spare me the family loyalty nonsense. You were never part of my family. You were just an obstacle, something that needed to be removed."
