The game is for ladies.” “And you are a lady?” River chuckled. “You are still a baby, Willow. You are five.” “Almost six!” Willow argued, folding her arms.

I murmured, gazing down at my little mate. We’ve just grown up. “Says the horny wolf,” I chuckled internally. We had her, and I’m content now. “I’m sure you are,” I mused. Of course I am. She is so stunning. How did we never notice? “Maybe we were too busy chasing after others,” I sighed, hating myself for not realizing sooner what Willow truly meant to me. While our wolves couldn’t claim a true mate until we were eighteen, some people still noticed the attraction and connection before that age.

Willow was my other best friend more like a sister we did everything together when we could find the time. She had long, straight chocolate brown hair now. Big brown eyes, a heart shaped face she was beautiful. When I first met Willow she was 8, I found her outside in the forest while I was helping gather fire wood. She had tears streaming down her face. She just kept repeating “My mom, My mom.” I had tried my best to cam her down but nothing I did worked. Soon after one of the pack warriors had came over and told her that her mother was killed by Alpha Wade for stealing food from the pack house.

Willow replied, pushing the stack away from her. "Then you have to make your case to the council. Either you marry one of these," her grandmother tapped the pile with a pencil, "or you commit to staying single. The council has granted you many years to marry, more than they usually do with anyone else. It is time. You are nearly 30. You have responsibilities." Her grandmother looked grim. "I'm only 26." Willow began. Her grandmother held up a hand. "Pick one. You might be surprised. I met your grandfather this way," she said.

Except for its sorrowful state, it's strong enough to defeat the wind. The willow tree reminded him of one of his memories when he trained with his old men. The one who raised him like a father and taught him as a mentor would. The first day they went for training was when Howard was six. He didn't get why he was brought under a willow tree, nor did he understand what his old man said. "Boy, do you know what tree this is?" His old man asked him playfully which Howard answered in negative, nodding his little head vigorously.

Chase decided to have a little fun with this illusion's Willow. "Won't that make you sound like a girl?" Willow asked in surprise. "Um… Well…" Chase had no idea what to reply. "I'm just kidding, hehe. You're Lil Orange because you're nice and sweet!" Willow burst out with a laugh. She was only about 12 or 13 and was blooming into a beautiful, young lady. Chase had no idea how else to reply to her. "You should have your breakfast before leaving for the ceremony." Hannah had been talking to someone using the messaging talisman. She started to lecture Chase when she saw him still chatting with Willow.

I glared and he chuckled. "Well, it appears she's telling the truth," He said to Raphael. "How old are you?" He asked. I thought about lowering my age but I don't know these men, they might be into minors and I would rather die than let anyone touch me, I also can't risk Willow's life by lying again. "Twenty one" I replied and he nodded. "She'll do" He mumbled, just then I heard footsteps behind me. The men returned with Willow, and she was still unconscious, tears streamed down my chin as they recklessly threw her on the ground.

“I want to know why you called me Beasty. Why you keep acting like we’ve met before. I want to know why you’re here, in WillowRidge, and why it feels like you already know me.” He nodded, setting his glass down on the table between us. “Alright. The truth, then.” Adam leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable. “We did know each other, Beatrix. When we were children. My family moved to WillowRidge when I was eleven, and from the moment I met you, I felt connected to you in a way I couldn’t explain.” I frowned, trying to pull memories from the fog of my childhood. “I don’t remember that.”

Has he been the one keeping her hidden? “Yep, full blooded human. I have his medical records on file, but interestingly Willows stops at the age of ten. My guess is that’s when she started shifting and her Dad found other ways to get her treatment that wouldn’t go on file or risk raising flags in the system.” Colin hands me a copy of his file and then another one to Anders.

Girls cry. "Cailen, I know this is hard but you can't take it personally," Ms. Willow said quietly. Cailen could barely understand her. He was, after all, only seven years old, but he knew more than most children. He may only be seven but he's been through much more than some people three times his age. "Go away," Cailen repeated for a third time, his voice quieter. He sniffled into the pillow, clutching the fabric in his small hands.
