She pointed towards the only chaise lounge in my study. Elijah and I exchanged stares before I acted on her instruction. As my head contacted the armrest, I closed my eyes and waited for her to do her magic. I felt wrinkly fingers thereafter touching my forehead and then, my consciousness turned blank and was replaced with another person’s memory. A rabbit hole with flashing pictures—that’s how I could describe my experience. This spell-casting ability of witches was only reserved to the elders as it entailed quite an amount of energy and it leaves the recipient exhausted.

Maybe I can't really conceal my emotions as well as I think. Her lips quiver and I see a look of hesitation cross her eyes, but she does not ask for her payment before. Witches never do. With a wave of her hand and an incantation spoken in a language long forgotten, she casts the spell upon me. For a moment I feel Creed howling inside of me as an invisible hand grips my heart. My wolf never approved of this decision. In fact, he has approved of very little since our mate died. I can feel the magic course through my veins, altering my appearance, and reshaping my features into something unfamiliar.

My magic represents itself as a beam of light that I could direct with hand movements. Spells differ in their method of casting, but the problem is, I’ve never learnt any attack spells, they never seemed of any importance before! Hence, when a flash of purple light bolts out of my hand, instead of blasting the wolf away as would have been useful, it turns the canine’s fur from a dark brown into a flashy girlish magenta! Probably from the time I wanted to turn my dress from green to pink… Oh no…

“I know you really don’t care what happens right now and just want to get this over with, but if you break your friends’ minds due to a stupid mistake, you’d regret it when you get better.” Her frown deepened and her forehead wrinkled. “So how do you suggest I cast it?” He looked at her, confused. She sighed. “How would you cast it?” “I would…” he stopped himself, realizing what was happening. They hadn’t yet been taught how to cast such spells without creating links. He shook his head. “Just tell me the incantation, and I’ll take care of the rest.” She looked at him skeptically but told him. “Heart and mind, soul and thought, carry upon a path a loving draught.”

The only reason I keep trying is because my mother and grandmother want me to. There are different types of spells. The ones where you say the words aloud usually work better with a wand but are not always necessary. The very experienced and strongest witches who have full control of their powers can cast these spells without a wand. Then, there are the spells where you use your hands to touch or hover over the object or person and concentrate using your mind. This technique is best used for healing wounds, which happens to be what my mother and grandmother are best at. Using your mind can also be used to change or move objects.

I say, “join the circle.” He nods and takes up position between one of the older boys and me. I’m sure he’s trying to put as much distance between himself and the girl child as he can. “What is the plan?” he asks. “I need you to help me strengthen the spell. Close your eyes,” I tell the witches. It’s not necessary for them to close their eyes to cast magic, but Kane is uncomfortable with the witch children looking at him, and it will affect his energy. One of the children in the group is powerful enough to make a difference, the rest are mediocre at best, but I need every bit of energy I can find if I'm to cast the spell successfully.

The wizard would strike his staff on the ground and casted spells aloud and the whole sky would turn dark with great light emitting from the staff and its ray beginning to melt the wolves. It eventually forced the wolves to vanish to the amazement of everyone who watched the scene. Once the wolves were gone, the sky returned back to normal and the wizard turned and smiled at them. “I had thought my sister would help but remembered that she didn’t know how to diffuse the Inca spell” the wizard stated. “What is the Inca spell though?” Levi asked with curiosity written on his face. The wizard smiled and said “It is an ancient spell that diffuse mystical holograms” this amazed everyone and Damon

“I’m ready.” She finally said as she closed her eyes like she was trying to prepare herself for what was coming. I then closed my eyes and pulled my magic forward and began to chant growing the magic within me as I weaved the spell together. When I felt the spell woven together, I pushed it onto Jessica as I opened my eyes to see it release from me to her. Jessica remained standing in front of me with her eyes tightly closed when I stopped chanting and I had to tell her that it was over.

The wand in her hand kept flickering. Philip was a little curious about the young woman. It seemed that she could attack in an instant. All the mages he saw had to chant magic spells, but not her. Philip nudged Licht and asked, “How can she attack us without using a spell?” “She must have engraved the spells in her spirit, so she can cast the spells without chanting, but high-level spells still have to be chanted.” The young woman's eyes widened, “How do you know that?” A mage was also a sorcerer.

I repeat and sprinkle herbs in another candle. I hold my hand over Scott. The energy coming off of him is manic, vibrating like mad. The spell is working. I have one more candle to invoke with the herbs. “Tolle quode est, et mutare eam.” The flames rise, and a blue band of magic forms from each of them, circling around us. I grab the potion vial, pull out the cork, and hold it over Scott’s head. “Tolle quode est, et mutare eam!” I dump the potion on him, and the flames go out. The smoke wafts over, circling Scott much like the energy did the first time I cast the spell.
