Without Merit Novels & Stories

He doesn't intrude in places where he's not needed. So why? Why would he use his influence to get me assigned to his company? What is he trying to achieve? My thoughts got distracted when the rep called out my name. “Miss Muggins…. What do you mean by what you said earlier? That you wanted a change?” “I'm just not fit for the job” I responded firmly, irritation evident in my voice. I didn't care about formality anymore. I mean, if such a big company like M&M Legal Firms and a law firm as such, forgot their morals by assigning a recruit based on favoritism and not merit; it makes sense that I also forget my manners.

Instead of relying on connections or resources, I built my success on pure merit, and my capabilities are what made this company thrive. Yet, it earned me nothing but a termination notice.

Liliana remarked, “This works well for both of us. If you succeed, you get more money. At the same time, the hospital does not lose much in case you don’t.” Henry cocked his brow, “I did not say it was unfair! Just more demanding.” Jennifer echoed, “Yeah, your new rules will keep everyone on their toes. I am not complaining. A strict merit-based system is a blessing for people like me who don’t have a powerful backing.”

Sebastian shouted as he didn’t think about anything else except the accusation. “Do you know how everyone are laughing at me? Do you know how they already think me as nothing but an undeserving person in your life?” Revathi asked and this time she didn’t keep her voice low. “You should have the courage to face them and how much time do you need to get used to all this. Every day the same words that I have left my parents for you and you don’t deserve that.” Sebastian uttered with frustration fisting his hands. “I never said that.” Revathi shouted not accepting his accusation.

Knox was left under no illusions, he was standing in front of the executioner of wolves, and it was terrifying. "Beta Knox and Beta wolf Karma, you are pure of heart and fair of mind, I can see no cruelty in your line, or that of your fathers or his fathers before him, your family has conducted their beta duties with honor and pride, will you accept the moon Goddesses mark upon your skin, and promise to continue your duties to the best of your ability, to stand at my side as a royal enforcer, to forsake all others and carry out the judgments handed down by me until you breathe your last breath and ascend to the realm of the Goddess when it is your time?" ''I do!" Karma and Knox growled in un

“I agree with you, and it would be true, if not for the counter rule the Order also adheres to. The more one takes, the more is taken from them in turn. “We are a people who have gathered out of the far corners of the galaxy, from everywhere, just like you. We all saw the foolishness in other governments, be they republics or aristocracies or empires. Like you, we rejected them. “The problem then, is how to govern without those old, tired methods? And here, we’ve found the best way - by thriving on merit. But we find we must also punish wickedness. Swiftly, but kindly. It is a matter of prosperity, after all.”

"Excuse me? This gentleman asked for me. Find your livelihood somewhere else." The man squared his shoulders, unwilling to let the chance slip. "Have you folks no honor?" These people cared nothing for that. "Please, he hasn't even hired you. It's all fair play, man." "It's the free market, Candor. Meritocracy. It isn't the luckiest man who wins; it's the best one, and we need to show this gentleman who that could be."

And for a brief moment, it seemed like his side had already won. But then it was my turn. At first, I hesitated, afraid to say anything, but then I rose to my feet, and my heart pounded in my chest, but I didn’t let it show. “Merit is what keeps you standing when legacy fails you,” I said, my voice steady. “Legacy can open a door, but it cannot keep you in the room if you don’t prove your worth. Merit is what transforms opportunity into achievement. Without it, legacy is nothing more than borrowed time.” A ripple of murmurs passed through the class, and I caught Julian’s eyes narrowing slightly, the smirk faltering just a fraction.

Cade said with conviction, "is not born; a True Alpha is made. And maybe it’s time we stopped worshipping bloodlines and started honoring merit. Perhaps it’s time we remembered what Bethany Spirit stood for." "An Alpha is only true when he can lead to the best of his capacity—not because of the blood that runs through his veins, but because of the heart that beats in his chest." I clutched my own heart, stunned. I was proud and moved beyond words. Though he hadn’t seen me yet, I knew in my soul that Cade wasn’t done fighting. The courtyard fell quiet again, silence folding over the gathered factions. Mr. Winters sighed and rose from his position in the circle, attempting to match the tone of

I look at my plate. In January he had the dry cleaner's number. Today — Meridian Capital. I don't know when exactly Damien Wolf became a man who prepares for what I might need. I'm not sure he noticed the moment himself. But I'm sitting at this table understanding that he didn't bring a weapon. He brought insurance. Quiet, invisible, spent at exactly the right second, not a moment before. That's not chivalry. It's something else, for which I don't yet have the precise word.
