His tone turned dark. “They humiliated her.” A murmur swept through the throng. “They condemned her.” The air crackled with restless anger. “They left her to die.” The tension was palpable, that simmering intensity almost tangible. Then, with a knowing smile, the wizard declared, “But they failed.” The roar that followed shook the very stone of the cavern, a wave of cheers crashing over the space as fists pounded against chests and arms reached toward the ceiling. Dawnfire. What once must have been a grand fortress was now a graveyard of stone. Towers lay in jagged heaps, blackened walls scarred by battle. Fires burned low amidst the wreckage, embers pulsing like dying stars. And at the very center, a massive altar stood untouched by time, its surface adorned with symbols eerily similar to those on the crown fragment. Elior’s pulse thundered. This was it. THE WALK I Near the battlefield, on top a high single tower, a man stood and waited for news, good or bad, it depended, but he preferred the bad ones. The wizard turned on the balcony, looked towards the mountains. He entered the brightly lit room, searched for possible source of the strange anomaly. He searched and searched, until he found. Witches' Tower The witches had a tradition of exclusivity when it came to their living spaces. Unlike other factions, their dorms were situated in the tallest tower, a spire that seemed to touch the sky. The entrance was hidden, a door camouflaged with enchantments, only visible to those of witch blood. As Sean approached the archway, he felt the familiar pulse of magic the door shimmering briefly before opening at his touch. A simple password spoken aloud, “Vires,” and the intricate rune symbols that wove themselves across the wood flared to life, allowing him entry.
