For a moment, I stood there, panting, my entire body trembling, my senses sharper than ever. A claw came at me. I was not very fast, so it got me a little too close to my eyes. I could hear the sound of it tearing into my skin, and I knew there would be scars, but there was no time to think about such things because Xavier in his wolf form was advancing towards me. I backed toward the window, he snarled at me and walked closer. I looked into his angry red slits, my heart thumping like a drum. Then he extended his claws and went for my neck. I ducked but without taking a big angry welt. I could feel the blood trickling down my neck, staining my blouse.

“You’re still pissed.” “You think I’d forget what your stupid Luna did to me?” I hissed, stepping closer so only he could hear. “You think healing my wounds will change what she shattered?” His eyes flickered and there was pain there, but something more desperate. “You don’t know the whole story.” “I don’t care,” I said. I was lying. I did care. More than I should have. And then it happened. There was this crackling noise that cut through the air. People screamed. From the treeline, a rogue wolf burst into the clearing—half-shifted, clearly feral. It charged for the fire, knocking over two students. Panic exploded.

It will be better if I can pass out at once. The black wolf in front of me evaporated like a thick gray mist on a cold morning. I arched a brow as the girl’s eyes darted our way before she sniffed and looked back down at her phone. “Hmm, rude.” I said under my breath and Willow chuckled. “Yeah, fae aren’t very friendly.” She tilted her head to look at Xavier and I saw a flash of violet in her brown eyes. “I’m curious to know why a wolf is hanging with a human, Xavier. Things have been boring around here lately. Why don’t you give me the details so I can have a good gossip?” I watched their interaction silently as Xavier took a sip of his drink before answering. “You’ll find out one way or another. I’m not going to make things easy for your nosy ass.”

Viper was angry as he killed the werewolf that had just injured the human. Jumping down from his ledge, he injected himself fully into the battle.
