Just before they got to the Blade lake river, they heard the howl once more and a big black wolf leaped out of the woods, the wolf ripped off the head of one of the guards and disappeared into the woods again- leaving the guard headless on the floor with his horse running off into the dark. “Information. Not guidance. I’ll listen. But nothing else.” Rylen nodded, producing a small, worn notebook. “Patterns, sightings, whispers. Hunter movements, werewolf territories, unusual activity. Keep this close. Use it wisely.” I took it, flipping through quickly. Notes, diagrams, names, dates—every detail a thread in the complex web of danger I was now part of. My eyes caught a faint smudge on one page—a warning about a pack moving through industrial zones. Werewolves. Same as the ones I’d evaded last night.

He found a matchstick, scorched on one end, and tucked it into a small pouch. A torn ribbon came free where the man’s jacket sleeve had been tied on, and a thin strip of map with the corner torn off. The wolves moved with the economy of a well-oiled machine: pull, search, collect, secure.

Thane focused inward, seeking the voice of his wolf, Lunos. Instantly, images flooded his mind - vivid, primal, and clear. River's wolf, Selene, appeared before him, a majestic gray form that radiated strength and wisdom. Lunos responded, a strong, golden presence that resonated deeply within Thane. He turns his head, looking away towards the door and I suddenly notice that he has – of all bizarre things – a blue ribbon around his neck. And attached to it…a note.

He has white fur all over his body, a little bigger than a black wolf, he has blue eyes but he also has sharp nails and fangs. He flips the notebook back to the early pages, which include countless drawings of pack boardrooms, long trail crossings, stacks of territory treaties, and random mugs of bean sap in different dens. Then, my sharp eyes notice the sudden pattern shift in the drawings. “What is it?” He searches my face, immediately noticing the shift in my scent.

“Come to the point. What does my Luna have to do with that scroll?” Gamma Daxon untied the crimson ribbon, unfolding the withered parchment. “This scroll," he announced, "mentions Echo Wolves only once. It appears in the section documenting natural calamities.” The murmurs instantly grew louder. Natural calamities? I stared at him in disbelief. How could Nyx possibly be connected to something like that? Gamma's voice echoed clearly across the silent grounds. “The records describe the Echo Wolf as possessing black fur and crimson eyes, two ominous features existing together. It is considered a warning… And the pack in which the wolf awakes is approaching destruction.”
