He carefully unwrapped it to reveal a translucent, gem-like lozenge inside. Claire stared at it, her breath catching for a different reason. A wave of pure nostalgia, sweet and sharp, cut through the numbness. That specific candy… with that exact, garishly shiny wrapper… It was wildly popular at her high school. Wow I didn't see that coming. I took one of the large chocolate bars and shut the fridge before I actually fainted. This guy is nuts! Maybe he's so irritated, energetic and snappy because of consuming too much candy? I mean yeah, he got a couple of fruits, salads and non-fat yogurt, but really!? Was he in a secret partnership with Willy Wonka? I walked up and down chomping on that chocolate bar. Honestly, I was becoming frustrated being alone here, I didn't see any of them and the only person that seemed available was not available.

I agreed. "Let's look around!" Daphnie and I explored the store. There were giant gummy bears, packs of gummy food, flower bouquets, marshmallow treats, and sugar sticks. The store was every kid's dream and every dentist's nightmare. In the center of the store was a Buffett where you make your box of candy. There were pieces of caramel, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, nuts, mints, and other sweets. "Wow. Daphnie, do you wanna make a box of candy?"

He handed me an oil wrapped cube. “This…” I muttered. “This is caramel candy. I bought it from the Korean convenience store nearby.” I delayed an OH and slowly accepted the caramel cube. The candy is oddly shaped into a cube, which I’ve never seen such before, or probably because I stopped eating candy since I lived with my aunt’s family. After inspecting the candy, I took my time to open the outer wrapping before popping the caramel cube into my mouth. “Mmm-!” I covered my mouth in surprise.
