Ralph POV With Alison’s hand in mine, we made it to the ward, not sure of what to anticipate; was it going to be a win or a loss? Garrett declared to Alpha Anon. Alpha Anon had the audacity to smirk. "No, you are," he retorted, and they lunged at each other, engaging in a fierce battle. Garrett was cautious not to deliver a fatal blow to the Alpha; he wanted him alive. The ground became littered with lifeless bodies, but Garrett didn't spare a moment to identify them. He couldn't afford to lose focus now. He seized Alpha Anon in a vice-like grip, but the cunning Alpha managed to stab him in the side with a knife. Garrett released his hold, clutching his wounded side. To his dismay, he noticed that the wound wasn't healing immediately—it was laced with wolfsbane.

Alexander and Lucas woke up to a strange silence. They walked out of their cave to find the main square filled with wolves carrying luggage. "Beta Mark! What is the meaning of this?" Alexander demanded, trying to muster his old authority. The Pack Beta, a man who had served them loyally for years, didn't even bow. He spat on the ground near Alexander's boots.
