We had a future planned. “Stop that!” Xan yelled, instantly making me freeze. “Stop.” I slumped against the wall, panting. “No matter what they do, you can’t shift. If you shift, it’s over.” He sucked in a breath and growled. “I have faith in your mates. I made sure that they’ll be able to find you. You just need to hold on long enough for them to find you.” Our eyes locked and held until he turned his head away.

Xander stepped out of the shadows like he’d been waiting there all along. “We need to talk,” Xander said. Zade stopped walking. “About what?” he asked, already knowing. Xander’s jaw tightened. “Don’t do that.” “Do what?” “Pretend this isn’t happening.” Zade let out a slow breath, exhaustion seeping into his bones. “This is the only way it works.” Xander closed the distance between them in three strides, stopping just short of touching him. The air shifted instantly, thick with Alpha pressure. Zade’s instincts flared, responding despite his effort to remain steady.

I pushed my face into Xander’s fur and cried silently. I couldn’t put into words what I was feeling. I felt like I had let Xander down. I heard the popping and snapping sounds coming from within him and moved away to give him space to turn. The noises sent shivers all over my body. I couldn’t imagine the pain shifters went through just to switch from one form to another. Once it was done, Xander sat behind me and circled his arms around my own, holding me tight. I pressed the back of my head on his chest and took a deep, jerky breath.

Xander was having a reaction down there as the sounds were not muted, but he was afraid to be found out so he hurriedly turned around. *******************************

They seemed really happy. It was interesting to note that even pup Emma had the same rings around her eyes. Why was that? It was not a human trait, so that meant it had to do with being a shifter. How could she have that connection with her wolf even as a pup before she was capable of having a wolf yet? Xander’s was the only case that I came across with early shifts. He shifted at twelve instead of thirteen. One picture showed a toddler Emma, another showed her probably around six or seven, and she still had the same eyes. Mark another win in the interesting column for Emma. That column was adding up quickly.

Instead, he was the one that felt an impact that sent him flying for thousands of feet and his body dragging against the hard ground.

Amanda backed away, and watched as Xavier's started to open his shirt to reveal the start of bronzed chest. Panic strangled her voice."Wait....stop!"

All except X. Two men quickly went to strike X hoping to catch him off guard. Instead X ran towards the wall. The two men instinctively followed him. As X approached the wall, he charged at it full speed. The momentum X gained was enough to scale the wall. As he reached the top of the wall, he placed his left hand on the celling and quickly shifted his entire body around. As his feet touched the ceiling he pressed off of it with such a force that left indentions.
