Darius It was unbelievable how the temperature in the human clothing store had dropped to zero. I knew who Alpha Xerxes was, but I didn't know he had any relations with Kael. They always melted, always rescued her. It never failed. But Xerxes was not like other men. His arms folded across his chest, his gaze cold and sharp with disdain. He looked at her as if she were nothing but a nuisance. “Why would I know anything about your health? I don’t care who you are,” Xerxes replied flatly. “And stop talking. Your voice disgusts me.”

I turned my gaze back to the room, and my breath hitched in my chest as Xander strode in. His presence was commanding in a different way than Xerxes. Where Xerxes was a quiet storm, Xander was a blaze—a flame that could burn the whole world down. But there was something undeniably powerful in the way Xander stood across from Xerxes now, meeting his cold stare without a flicker of hesitation. Xerxes’ lips twitched in the smallest of grins, the first expression I had seen from him since I entered the room. “Challenge accepted.”

She smiled back, loving how natural it felt to be with him, in his house exchanging glances. "You not feeling sleepy yet?" Xavier asked as she sat down on the chair opposite him, looking up from his computer. His hair was damp showing that he had just taken his bath and his matching pajamas didn't conceal how ridiculously good looking he was, if anything his laid-back attitude enunciated the obvious. She shook her head answering in negative at his question. "I ain't sleepy yet." "How about you?" She asked after few minutes. "Not really sleepy." He met her gaze, amused, "Difficult to sleep when you don't have an efficient assistant anymore."

He growled, and the sound vibrated as it hummed from his throat. “Stop playing Xerxes, you know my name is Meadow.” The she-wolf stepped up to him and nudged him with her snout. He smelt of pine cones and cherries. The wolf was caught off guard as the she-wolf licked the side of his face. “I am not Xerxes,” the wolf groaned. Meadow was confused. “What should I call you then?” Meadow purred, thinking that her mate likes role-playing. “I am Alazar,” he rumbled proudly.

Xander On the huge flat screen on the wall in front of us are various images. One is of a blue Yaris. It is blown up. Hayley is in the front seat but she is slumped in the seat as if she’s sleeping or unconscious. In the driver’s seat is Tash, Hayley’s friend. “What’s going on here?” “This is the footage we got from cameras in and around Hayley’s work area.” “That’s Tash, Hayley’s friend. What is she doing with her? And why does my wife look unconscious. Fuck this can’t be happening.”

Xerxes sighed in contemplation, in utter comfort and calmness as he breathe in my scent, intoxicating and addicting to his wolf. When I was sure he was calmed enough, I placed both of my hands on either side of his face and made him look at me. His curious eyes as of children slid from my eyes to my nose and then to my lips and then again met my gaze. “Do you promise to never hide things from me?” I muttered. Xerxes nodded, like a child desperate enough to not get scolded by his parents. I almost find him too adorable if it wasn’t for his manly features and beautiful golden-blue eyes.

She couldn’t deny the strange connection she felt with him, a connection that seemed to transcend mere words or actions. As dawn broke, Xerxes appeared at the entrance of the makeshift shelter where Esmeray had spent the night. His tall, imposing figure was bathed in the soft light of the rising sun, casting a golden glow around him. His dark hair was tousled from sleep, and his piercing blue eyes seemed to hold a depth of emotion that Esmeray couldn’t quite decipher. “I must take my leave now,” Xerxes said, his voice low and gravelly. “But before I go, there is something I must tell you.”

I felt like I was running insane in here. I've been locked up in this room for a week and luckily my starvation punishment was over.
