I said, my voice sounding flat and tired.
"Make sure he understands," Carl said, leaning against the wall. "If I see you two whispering in the halls tomorrow, the photo goes up. I’ve got the link ready. One click, and Jax is done. You want to see him playing for some local club back home? Because that’s where he’s heading if you don't end this."
I didn't answer. I pushed the heavy door open and stepped into the storm.
Jax was waiting by my car. He looked like a drowned rat, his hair plastered to his forehead, his hoodie dripping. But when he saw me, he tried to smile.
