“Ancient Dragon Fist!” Roy’s energy surged and formed a huge dragon shadow on his right fist. The dragon was golden and looked magnificent, and the cracks in the surrounding space became bigger. All the energy in the surroundings was absorbed by those cracks. Roy said, “You’ll die today!”

Roy swore under his breath but pulled back, shoving Johan away hard enough to send him to one knee. Johan rose slowly, brushing dirt from his hands like we were having a casual meeting under the moonlight. His eyes glinted when they met mine. “Good choice,” he said softly. “I’ll see you soon, little sister.” Then he vanished into the trees. Roy turned to me, breathing hard, blood still dripping from his ribs. “You have no idea what you just did.” The worst part was, I wasn’t sure if he was right. Carson POV Roy slammed through the war room door hard enough to make the table rattle. Blood streaked his shirt and there was a dark look in his eyes I didn’t like.

The rest stood in front of me, blocking him from gaining access to me. The boy wasn't deterred. He rushed to Asher first, gripping Asher's neck and throwing him to the side. Asher's eyes went wide as his back his the wall, debris crumbling to the floor. "How the hell is he strong?" He groaned. "I am the descendant of the dark king, I am his successor, how dare you look down on me?" He growled. The boy rushed to Roy next, who blood his attack by using his hands as a shield, but no one excepted the boy to grab his leg, and throw him off balance. Roy fell to the floor, and the boy began to ran punches on him.

Jason’s POV Later that afternoon, I summoned Roy, my top warrior, and Henry, my trusted beta, into the war chamber. Henry arrived first. I found him lounging casually against the edge of the map table, arms folded across his chest. “What is this about, Alpha?” he asked. “Plans for the future,” I replied, and Henry nodded. Roy arrived a few minutes later. We heard his heavy steps before he entered the chamber. His gray-streaked hair was combed neatly back, and he wore the black uniform of Shadowclaw’s chief warrior.

I saw the way his body cracked and stretched, how his muscles surged, how his eyes burned gold like fire trapped behind glass. He didn’t look like a boy anymore. He looked like something out of the stories we’re told to forget when we get older. And I realized—no amount of jealousy, of hate, of ambition—would ever protect me from someone like him if I ended up on the wrong side of his anger. Or Roy’s. Roy had promised me power. He’d promised I’d never be in Harley’s shadow again. That I’d have influence. That I’d matter. But at what cost?
