After a few quick strokes of her pen, she tossed the handwritten note at me as though it could instantly erase all the favoritism she had shown. Just then, James walked in carrying shopping bags filled with designer brands. He cheerfully bragged about everything he had bought. Every cent he had spent came from the money I had been saving to take care of my own dad. Last month, I bought Dad a 300-dollar jacket. He left it hanging in the closet because he couldn't bear to wear it. Whenever he went out, he still wore the same faded plaid shirt he had had for years. I pulled up my contacts, ready to borrow money from anyone who would help. Suddenly, my phone buzzed.

And now I felt nauseous. Dad gazed into her eyes, both trapped in the fond nostalgic memories they shared. “The only time I’ve ever let anyone off with owt,” Dad added, his eyes sparkling with adoration. My eyes flicked between Alex, Grayson, Lucas, and Mason, and a whimsical smile stretched my lips. Our story wasn’t like anything written in a romantic novel. Nothing quite as epic. More like a graphic porno that could be found in the fetish section of Lynn’s sex shop, titled ‘Ravished by the Beasts’ or something along those lines.

"I need to go to church this evening, it's already so late" I glance at clock on the television, seven twenty two, when did it reach seven pm. "I'll see the both of you when I'm back, your boyfriend is hot by the way" she kisses my forehead and grab her keys before leaving. I kneel on the floor and go through my dad's pile of books on the floor. A black glittery journal-like book catches my attention and I open it. ~~To Bailey, the reason I'm a better man~~ I close my eyes, smiling sadly at this, this is a gift from my dad.

I interrupted him... me(with angry): " DADDY... I just said I saw handsome guy.. but you are going too far... I won't love anyone.. because I want to love the one whom you choose for me.... I know my dad his best.. he always choose perfect guy for me... "

Needless to say, I was shitting my pants in anticipation of her opening all said gifts. My father walked into my room, the door was wide open since I sat in bed reading a novel Alina literally begged me to go through. It was some romance thing and it made me finally understand why ladies had such high expectations from us men. The men portrayed in novels were nothing like the men in reality. "Zion, you better behave yourself today," my father's tone was warning but there was an unmistakable twinkle in his eyes.

he said. “ hmmm, what is it?" My dad placed a book in front of me. I glanced at it. ” what is this?" “ open it first", he prodded gently “ Okaay...... " I dropped my paint and brush and cleaning my dirty hands, opened the book. ”Oh. My. God!!!" I gasped. “ What the hell is this? Where'd you get it from, how much did it cost?" I hurriedly asked. My dad chuckled quietly

Yup, I don't know how to lie and my dad knew that. " I read it on W*****d. How can it be wrong. That's the title of the book. " " It's a paranormal story and also a girl×girl story." Dad said and I pinned my face down. How did dad know that? " Chill , I'm not complaining." Dad said and smiled. " I won." He shouted. " Dad you cheated , when I was busy talking." I said laughing. " You know Daddy doesn't cheat. I'm the king of chess. Lemme shower and beat you again." Dad said as he rushed upstairs.

I wondered how he got so rich, but I had no plans of asking him. I couldn't let him know I was interested, I didn't even want to be interested. "Reading?" He asked as he settled on my really soft rug. "Yeah. There are tons of good novels on the shelf, my favorite kind of genre."

Maybe, I have pushed him too far, but I find I don’t really care because he deserves it. “You will regret choosing that rat over me I promise you. I am whats good for you but you are too stubborn to see it but don’t worry soon you will” he straightens his clothes and touches the sore spot on his face that is beginning to bruise and leaves. I sit there in silence after he leaves, trying to make sense of what has just happened. My phone beeps, its Marcus letting me know he is making dinner and so I should not be late for dinner; he also tells me he has discovered something called the DC universe and his crush now is Jason Momoa and that he and Aqua man are going to have a village of kids and l
