Right through the sea of moving bodies, my eyes locked onto a pair of piercing hazel eyes staring right back at me. “Mate.”

- Maive's POV - His eyes were crimson red, and he was burning me with his stares. He was at a distance, just straight in front of me, but I couldn’t concentrate. I didn’t even understand what my friends were talking about because of his intense gaze. Damn. I tried to look somewhere else, hoping he would stop staring at me, but when I looked at him again, he was still the same, staring intensely at me. He doesn’t know how much those stares affect my body. They’re making the butterflies in my stomach go insane. My chest was beating fast and loud.

The same sound as last time. I look up and directly in front of me are two glowing eyes, starting maliciously at me. “Oh shit.”

I squinted, not to be obvious that I was looking at him. I opened my eyes fully when I found him gazing at me intently. His expression was neutral as he continued to gaze at me even when I had opened my eyes. “W-Why are you staring at me like that?” I asked warily. He didn't shift his gaze before a wicked chuckle disrupted his throat. “It's my eyes. I can choose to glare or stare at anything or anyone. As long as I want,” he responded. “You know what I am talking about, so answer me,” I demanded. His expression replayed in my head and I wondered what he must have been thinking about me.

My finger rubbed against my wet lip and I look up at him, his eyes just stared back at mine, no visible expression whatsoever and I instantly straightened my back, my expression vexed. “What in the world?!”

Not still looking away from me, my gaze locked on him, it was the first time I looked straight into his eyes and it was one of the beautiful pairs of lenses I had laid my eyes on. “Why are you staring at me like that?” I mouthed, his eyes not blinking from mine, still.

well, myself. I stare at our reflections. Harlan's palm completely encompasses my jaw, his grip tense and commanding. His chin rests at my temple. My eyes meet in the mirror, and I feel a surge of lust. Absentmindedly, I squirm beneath him, my gaze never leaving his through the reflection of the mirror. My eyes plead with him, beg for his touch.

Astrid held the sheet so tight, even with shaky breath. When her eyes met mine again, she gasped like I'd passed information through our eye contract. And then I said, “Have you been staring at my picture?”

But before I could walk out, he added almost lazily, “You don’t have to be embarrassed, you know. It’s not a crime to stare.” I paused. Turned just slightly. “Staring implies interest,” I said. “And I’d rather gouge out my eyes.” His smile widened just a little. “You looked long enough to memorize.” My face burned. This time I didn’t argue. I just walked out, fast. And of course, like the universe hated me, the image of water sliding down his stomach flashed across my brain again.
