“Who would go after that arrogant guy?” The word landed wrong in my chest. Zane wasn’t arrogant. He had a temper, sure, but I’d seen his fairness too. Even at the hospital, when he threw his weight around, he’d done it because I was mistreated. Any Alpha would have. That wasn’t arrogance. “Alpha Zane is the leader of the largest pack in North America,” I said quietly. “Don’t most women want to be his Luna?”

“Son, you never mention her nationality. Whatever possessed you to get that type of girl? Have you been to America without us knowing anything about it?” “No,” Zane chuckles. “Janiya lives and works here in China. Look, Baba, I didn’t mention her nationality because a person’s skin color shouldn’t matter. I don’t even like doing that. I said she is a foreigner because that’s what she is. Besides, I didn’t plan this; it just happened this way. It doesn’t mean I’m turning my back on you and Mama or my nationality.”

Naya’s POV It had been a full week. Seven long, dragging days since I had last seen Zane. No cold commands. No unreadable stares. Just silence. The only person I saw was Beta Nikolas. He’d bring food and clothes when needed. With polite check-ins. Each time I asked about Zane, he gave the same answer. “Oh… he sends his regards, he’s attending to some serious pack matters.” That was all. I didn’t know why it bothered me.

Inside was a message from both of my grandfathers, written together. After they were discharged from the military, the two men went their separate ways. Each had a child, and they promised that one day, their families would be joined through marriage. However, Jasper's father returned to active duty and was killed in action. The unborn child Nancy carried became the only hope for continuing the family line. When Nancy gave birth to a girl instead of a boy, she secretly swapped the baby and sold her own daughter to a rural family.

ZION "Zion, for fucks sakes. Can't you keep your hands to yourself," Kendra fumed as she swatted my fingers away from her, "Didn't your mama teach you not to mess with a black girl's weave!" The scowl on her face amused me as well the red weave she decided to get during the weekend.

He was usually nice and easygoing, appearing harmless most of the time, but Zayn was actually a nationalist. He could not take these foreigners throwing their weight around in Rheasia! It was fine when he was not one to run into such instances, but now that he was involved in one, he was not going to let these foreigners go easy. They would think that Rheasians were pushovers otherwise!

"Nixon Abandonato, known contacts, Chase Abandonato, Sergio Abandonato-" "That's a hell of a lot of Abandonatos." I scowled. "What does that even mean?" "Oh, wow." Nat looked over Zane's shoulder. "He kind of looks like you, minus the menacing I'd probably shoot you in the face first ask questions later sort of way." "Case closed." Zane dropped his phone. "I'm sending him a text. I just need to find his number..." "No." Ang finally spoke. All eyes fell to her.

I tap my fingers on the armrest, waiting for his answer. He proudly rests his back against the office chair and smiles. "Janet Johnson." I nod. Her name playing in my head. I get distracted from my thought when my phones' ringtone fill the room. I pick it up without wasting much time. "Boss." One of my men calls. "There is a problem." I look up at Seth then at the table. "What's that?" "The ship transporting our weapons, can't be found." "What!" I furrow my brows. "When did you realize this?"

Nathan simply smiled at his mum, walking toward her, he kissed her forehead, before resting his against her own. “Relax, mom, we won’t do anything that’s crazy, stupid, or risky” Nathan assured before turning to look at Vitaly “Vitaly, Carter won’t be home tonight, he has a few things to take care of. Mikhail would be here to help if anything is needed, but the pack is in your care”

However, the second round ended in a tie between the fae warrior and the alpha male, resulting in a brief moment of break for the three to regain their strength. Naira looked at the unfamiliar male who was her Zain. After he introduced himself as Nate, she realized her worries were groundless. He came prepared to the Riverside Pack with an alias the elders wouldn't suspect. She just wasn't sure if the Gamma whose name he stole was on board with his scheme or six feet under. Realizing her children had still not returned, she turned to Aisha. "Zara and Zanai aren't here. Do you know where they ran off to?"
