I threatened, but I was laughing. “I have good news,” Zade said suddenly, propping himself up on his elbow so he could look at both of us properly. His hair was sticking up in about twelve different directions, making him look younger and more carefree than usual. “Once you’re fully recovered, I want to take us all on a trip.” “A trip?” I perked up immediately. I’d never been on a real vacation before. The closest I’d come was a school field trip to a local museum when I was twelve.

"Suppose I were to accept your help, where would we get the pumpkins? Not unless you have a farm full of them" "My parents have tons to spare" If her doe eyes got even bigger I would be begging to fuck her. "Your parents?" I stretched out my hand, "I'm Zade. Zade Cutler"

“Go!’ She giggled pushing me away and I kissed her cheek. “Bye, love you both!” I waved as I rushed out of my apartment. Zada was now living with Travis, in their own apartment. His mother came around after Azani was born, she couldn’t resist that baby no matter how hard she tried, out of all of us, she’s the one that spoils him the most. Travis is working as an intern in his dad's company, lucky him and once Zada graduates this year with her degree in Business & Economics, she’ll also have a spot in the company, lucky her but either way, I’m proud of both of them and the growth they’ve both experienced since Azani’s birth.

112. Be a good boy, Zade Jade's POV My legs quivered and the tautness in my knees made my stride slower. I placed a hand on my heart and pushed myself to hurry towards the Principal's cabin in Zade's school. My son is four, but every now and again I am summoned to his school to deal with the problems he creates for me. And the Principal rang me up not twenty minutes ago while I was working in the farms. She said it was an emergency and she sounded scared as hell.

Was fast approaching, and I had to meet Michael behind the tree. Opening the balcony door, I noticed I was on the second floor, thus, getting down would be a small struggle, I could do it though. I went back to the table and scribbled off a note for Zade. I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE MAD AT ME, BUT I CAN'T LEAVE WITH YOU, KNOWING THAT I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO CALL YOU DADDY. I WILL BE GOING IN SEARCH OF A NEW DADDY, DO NOT LOOK FOR ME, ZANE.

Is he still in the field? I overheard the freshies as I wait for them to finish. "Omg! His full name is Zack Jersey Mendoza Zendaya. He ranked one again. How amazing!" The curly girl said. She widened her eyes in amazement. I recalled having the same reaction the first time I saw his grades. "Oh, such an amazing guy. He tops almost all the subjects. Look, look, 98 for all the subjects he ranked first," her friend replied. Well, what can I say? I'm always proud of my best friend.

she said. "What?" "The journalist Adrian hired." She tilted her head. "What is her name?" Kola glanced at the tablet. "Sade Williams. Freelance. Based in Lagos, covers business and society" He stopped. Because Zara had gone very still in the way she only went still when something had just assembled itself in her mind with the specific click of a perfectly placed piece. "Sade Williams," she said. "You know her?" Damien said. Zara looked at him. "She planned the flowers at the Adeyemi-Bankole wedding," she said slowly. "Two years ago. I gave her my card because she asked about event management." A pause. "She sent me a reference inquiry three weeks ago. I haven't replied yet."

The handwriting was sharp and messy, and the words had been written in thick black ink. “Meet me in the woods tonight. Don’t tell anyone. –Z” My heart skipped a beat when I realized it was Zade. What did he want now?

Naomi raised an eyebrow, unsure of where this was going, "A deal?" "Yes," Zade said, his voice serious again. "You stay here, for as long as it takes to recover and work whatever and whenever you can, you can help clean the kitchen, you can help with the gardens and everything in between. In return, you don’t owe me anything, not for the dent, not for the medical help, nothing. But you have to give this a chance. No running away. No shutting down. You try… just try to let yourself heal."

BROOKS I was shutting down my laptop, stretching my neck from side to side when my phone buzzed beside me on the desk. I didn’t think much of it until I saw the name lighting up the screen. Zade Rehearsing with the band today. You should come by. I’ll send you the location. I blinked at the message. Then blinked again. There it was—simple, direct, and very him. No emojis, no fluff, just Zade.
