The high-pitched sound pierced my ears, making me flinch—goddess, she had powerful lungs. As the scream echoed through the dimly lit room, I felt the tension thickening in the air. It was as if time had stopped. Every heartbeat felt amplified, resonating with the chaos about to unfold. My hand snapped forward, and my claws curled around her mouth, silencing her.
