Zero Days Ruth Ware 소설 & 이야기

My life became ordinary and quiet. One afternoon, there were not many people in the supermarket. While I did inventory behind the cashier counter, a familiar but timid woman lingered around the entrance for a long time before she gritted her teeth and walked in. It was Ruth. She had become much more haggard than before. Dark circles stood stark under her eyes, and she wore washed-out, old clothes. She held her thin son’s hand. The boy stared at me timidly with anxiety in his eyes. “Mr. Zimmerman…”

“Then why thirty days?” The old woman reached for her teacup thoughtfully. “A wolf knows instinctively. If a bond is possible…It begins quickly.” “Within thirty days the wolf either opens its heart…” “…or closes it forever.” Pieces I had never questioned before suddenly rearranged themselves in my mind. Every woman who came before. Thirty fays then they left unmarked. Some alive. And some…. “And every time…” I whispered. “His wolf rejected them.” She nodded solemnly. “And every rejection sounded like another countdown toward death.”

"I want you to come to workshop. I have much delivery, 231 pies of pizza . I need you to deliver 50 pies to my kennedy at Zagon company on 17th floor." "You know today is my off day." Ruth reminded her. She doesn't need anything that will stress her. She just need to take her bath and rest. "I will give you 50 bucks for it." She said and Ruth started to rethink on the offer. "I'm sure they are going to tip you as well." Sandra added. "I'm coming right away." Ruth said quickly and cut the call. She took her bath, and wore one of her good clothes. She have never made delivery at zagon's company.

He closed his book and went to his room and she heard him moving around in there with the efficient quiet of a child who had learned to read urgency and respond to it without needing the details. She called Ada while he packed. “I need you,” Cloe said. “I’m here,” Ada said. Just that. No questions. No preamble. Ruth’s office was on the ninth floor of a building twenty minutes away. She arrived at one-fifteen with her folder and her hard copies and the private investigator’s report and Ruth met her at the door and they sat down and worked. Ruth was good. She was better than good. She took everything Cloe had and she built with it the way a person built something load-bearing, carefully, testi

Celia’s POV It has been one month since Lillian got married to Zed. It has been two months since I am seeing a therapist and made a new friend- Ryan, the Harry Potter, the wizard in my life. It has been three months since I lost my pregnancy- my twins died. It has been four months since Alexander left me, since my life became upside down, since all my dreams along with my heart has shattered. Shattered is a little word.

REIGN’S POV The digital pulse on my laptop screen was a steady, green beacon, flickering against the dark background of the morning room. I had been watching the dead signal of Ruth’s phone for seventy-two hours, waiting for the exact moment she’d surface for air. I knew her patterns better than she did; a woman like Ruth, driven by a rigid sense of order and justice, couldn't stay submerged in a vacuum forever. She would eventually need to see the wreckage she left behind, if only to confirm that the damage was irreversible.
