I shut the door with my foot and stared at him, the way one might stare at a Ferrari being used for mud wrestling.
“Do you realize you’re letting a three-year-old Picasso with vandal tendencies turn you into his canvas?”
He looked from Ash to me. “He needed one. I needed a laugh.”
Ash snorted. “Papi said his face is expensive, so I made it more colorful to add value.”
“And you just let him?” I asked, setting my bag down and stepping further in, still mildly traumatized.
Zane shrugged. “You know I never say no to raw talent.”
His nose had a green stripe, his left cheek was slashed with red like war paint, and across his forehead, in all caps, someone had written: BOOM.
