"And what does that mean?" "It means the magic realm will no longer be safe. Magic Academy is on natural grounds, but..." Hayden scratches the back of his head, eyes appearing concerned before he continues. "The teachers are of different species, and so I don't think it's safe to stay here either." "Oh..." I take a deep breath. "And since you're the vampire prince, you're probably the least safe."

“I… I haven’t checked outside.” My wolf pressed against my skin, snarling for blood. “I need the CCTV footage from last night. Now!” I roared. *** The academy board was seated. Four chairs stood at the front, but only three were filled. The Lycan King, owner of the academy, had not yet arrived. The others, Rex, Zeus, and Kane sat with eyes burning blood-red. I walked to the seat prepared for me and sat beside Darius. His eyes stayed on Zima as if his gaze alone could comfort her. Around us, students filled the hall, whispering and waiting for the judgement.

For a moment, all I can do is stare as they’re quickly overwhelmed. “We have to go,” Addison shouts back to us. “Now!” That pulls us back to the present, and with one last, reluctant glance down at my father and Cassandra, I fly with the others to the Academy, leaving the rest of my former pack behind. Soon the fear barrier and the castle housing the school come into view.

"Right now I just want to get through today's lesson without the whole world ending in the middle of it." "Small victories." Mira managed a tired smile. "I can respect that."
