You can’t be out of bed,” Leslie said, pushing up on her elbows. “Jakey, what’s happening? What are those animals?” “Werewolves,” Jake said, eyes not leaving the hall. “They’re real.” Tara peeled a slat of the front blinds. “They’re everywhere,” she whispered. “Sniffing. Hunting.” Zak joined her, jaw tight. “Can we make the car?” She checked—froze. “They’re ripping the W.R.X. to pieces.”

Like he hadn't eaten in years, he tore the man's stomach open with his nails and dug in. The other two scaled the walls, dragging people out through windows, ripping into them one by one. Screams tore through the night. The whole complex turned into hell. Then—just like that—Bella's lion dropped from upstairs. At her command, it moved, jaws slick with blood, lunging at the zombies. The infected had just turned. They couldn't handle a beast at full force. One swipe—done. The lion shut it all down in minutes. Silence. Total silence.

Starving, it tore into that resident's belly with sharpened nails, feasting with savage delight. The other two zombies weren't far behind, climbing walls, dragging men and women through windows, one after another, into their jaws. Screams echoed endlessly. The entire neighborhood had turned into hell. Then, without warning, Dominic's lion leaped from upstairs. At his command, the lion obeyed perfectly, lunging at the zombies with jaws wide. Humans, just turned, couldn't withstand a beast's fury. One swipe of the lion's paw, and chaos was subdued within minutes.

With a small spin it gathered power in its arms and flung its club powerfully towards Aiden’s torso, gathering a small windstorm in the process.
