“I hear it,” Jason says. “Timer.” “How long?” Ben asks. “I don’t know,” Jason says. “It’s not in seconds. It’s in recall cycles.” “So it’s counting memories?” Leah asks. “Yeah,” Jason says. “Every time we trigger a memory, the counter jumps.” “Then we’re already feeding it,” Ben says. “Awesome.” “We can starve it,” Leah says. “No more memories. Only the name. Only the song.”

Not hostile. Not awake. But aware. And it remembered names.

FLASHBACK Brett struggled with a recurring memory which he couldn't forget no matter how hard he tried. He saw a negative vision of that night at the club. There was the silhouette of a slender person who approached him, and they had a short laugh. He could hear her voice echoing in the abyss and her enthusiastic tone, but he couldn't remember who she was. He remembered the sound of her moans, her sudden fright and his soft hands sliding down her bare skin. He remembered the coolness of the air conditioner and the intensity of their sex, but that was it! He couldn't remember any other thing; not her name or her face.

And closed it with a sigh. “Did you not want to read anything?” Tristan asked me puzzled. I smiled at him, feeling my lip crack a little as I did “I did.” I saw the confusion on his face and giggled “I have a photographic memory. I can recall information at any time just by looking at it. Kind of like pulling out a photograph to look at whenever you want to. I retain facts and conversations and recall them easily.” His mouth formed an ‘O’ as he processed the information.

“Why not?” “I … I can’t remember anything.” Her eyes fell to the ground. It’s not that she couldn’t remember, it’s just … she didn’t want to remember anything about it. Her dark past had been haunting her, chasing her wherever she went. She was scared. Her fear would consume her and bring back all the trauma. Her entire life she had avoided recalling every bit of memory from her parents. And she’s fine with little or nothing to remember at all. “Wait.” Estevan opened his backpack and, later on, pulled out a notepad. “I’ve read a book before—back in my country and took some notes out of it. Here,” he said, pointing at a page. “It’s called Meditation Memory Recall.”

The more I try to remember, the more I forget,and the aches in my head got even worse every time I try. I could overhear Aiden telling the doctor, I can't remember anything, I wasn't much interested in their conversation, it was obvious I lost my memory,I don't even know who I am. "What is his name Aiden?" I asked. "He doesn't have a name yet,we wanted you to give him one" he said, walking towards me as the doctor and nurse took their leave. "He is so handsome," I said. "What about me mama?" Raymond asked. "Oh Ray,you are also handsome" I chuckled.

But I was still not in the mood for calls, so I decided to turn my phone off. I woke up the next morning, I didn't know when I slept in. My head was still banging, and I was reminded that my husband was dead. Last night's event kept replaying, I looked beside my nightstand, I took our wedding portrait and looked at the man I married, The one who left me a widow even though he's been gone for a long time his Memories of us were still fresh in my head. Tears filled my eyes, my sight was blurry, I placed the portrait upside down and made my way to the kitchen counter to take some medications for the headache. Knock knock (someone was knocking)

My parents shrank under the stares, their proud expression fading into stiff, pale faces. Suddenly, Audrey's eyes widened, as if she'd just thought of a way out. She jabbed her finger at the screen, shouting, "That woman in the video isn't me! "I have a twin sister—her name's Aurora. She's the one in that footage!"
