The day Harlow turned fully one, was the day she start saying her first word, which was no.
"No," Harlow said, walking away from Gore as he tried to put on her clothes.
"Come now, little one," he walked after her.
She laughed, trying to walk faster, "no, no."
He grabbed Harlow to lift her in the air.
Gore span her around, "yes, yes" he told her, "you have to get dressed."
As he said it, Harlow start peeing on him.
"See what I mean," Gore held her off his body.
"No."
Gore had a hard time trying to put her shirt over her head, because she kept turning away.
"No," she said.
Gore finally got her dressed, then brought her downstairs for breakfast.
"No, no, no." Harlow shook her head on the way there.
"Come on, Harlow," Gore said as he tried to feed her cereal.
"No," she said, but open her mouth anyway.
"Hey Har, can I get some?" Derek asked, already knowing that the only answer was no, but he couldn't resist.
"No," the baby said.
She smiled at Derek, having only finally warmed up to him, but she only allowed him close when she wanted someone to play with.
Harlow made airplane sounds, then opened her mouth for another spoonful.
"Good girl," Gore wiped her face, then head off to find Gloria.
"Please be careful," Gloria told her son.
"Aren't I ever?" Gore smirked.
He and the pack fighters had yet another rescue to make. His hopes were not so high about finding his mate this time.
If he wasn't the Alpha, he would have just stayed home to play with Harlow, but he had to be on the front line of things.
Gore kissed the top of Harlow's head before leaving.

"I don't trust this," Khalid said, as they walked up the snowy hill just outside a Vampire's Lore.
(Khalid is Alexis' mate and Derek's best friend.)
Gore didn't like it either. He had the feeling of being watched and was waiting for an ambush.
The snow fell again, but it didn't bother them, especially not Gore, because he picked up on a scent he was sure belonged to his mate.
"Over there." Someone pointed to where a female with long, ratty pink-hair had her head down and was tied to a pole. Her lanky body shivered from the cold, while her tan skin was covered in cuts and bruises.
A growl escaped Gore's lips, which caused the female's head to snap up, revealing a blistered narrow face, dull yellow eyes and an up-turned nose that had frost bite. Gore wasn't expecting to see a beauty queen, but he didn't expect that someone average looking might be his mate either.
The witch mumbled something that sounded like a spell. Gore shook his head to get over the fogginess from his mind. He now saw the female in a new light, fully recognising her as his mate. Feeling bad for having the thoughts he had.
'Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.' He told himself.
"A witch?" Someone mindlinked.
"My mate," Gore replied loudly, making it knew to them to not hurt the woman before them.
"Luna?"
"Luna?"
"Luna?"
They all questioned.
But Gore was busy taking deep breaths. Enjoying the intoxicating scent of the mate he just found.
"Are you ok?" Gore asked.
The witch shook her head.
"I am naked and chain to a pole. So no." Her cracked lips trembled.
Gore ripped the chains off with no hesitation. He hated seeing his mate like that, being treated like an animal and left for death.
She fell into his arms instantly, crying and shivering.
"Hush now, I got you," Gore cooed.
He pulled off his shirt, placing it over her head, then lift her up.
"Let's move out," The Alpha ordered. "You three take up the back. Derek on my left."
"This was way too easy," Derek said, as he and the other followed instructions.
He kept looking over his shoulders, feeling uneasy, but his brother ignored him. Because all he cared about now was to get his mate to safety.
With one glance over his shoulder, Derek saw a dark shadow moving away from a window. But he thought nothing of it, seeing that they didn't come under attack.
As soon as Gore got home, he took the witch to the clinic so she can get taken care of.
Will
get in here! He linked to the pack's doctor. In no time, the pack doctor was before him."Mild hyperthermia, dehydration and a few cracked ribs.'' Will said, all he did was look at the female to know the exact condition she was in.
"I think some wolf nectar can help to heal her." The doctor suggested.
"What? Let's only for wolves. Are you trying to kill her?" Gore snarled.
"Relax. If given in small portions at different intervals, she will be as good as new. And remember, I have only worked on sick wolves, never witches. But I'm sure the nectar will make her better."
Gore nodded, trusting the doctor's judgment.
It took two hours after a few nectar shots for the witch to wake up.
Gore never left her side, because his wolf wouldn't let him. So his concerned face was the first thing she saw after opening her eyes.
"Where am I?" The tried to sit up, but Gore pushed her back down gently.
"My name is Gore. You are in Grindavik, my pack. You are safe here," he told her.
The witch looked up at him. Her eyes seemed to darken. "Take your hands off me!"
Gore held up his hands, backing away, "I'm sorry, I was concerned about you, your health and safety."
Something flashed in the witch pinkish colour eyes. "I'm sorry, they have tied me to a pole for days."
Gore nod his head in understanding, "are you hungry?"
"Very."
Gore removed the covering before a bowl to reveal soup.
"I don't eat meat," she said, after seeing the small cubes of chicken in the soup.
(Witches, good or bad, don't eat meat. They practically worshipped animals.)
"Of course." Gore gave an apologetic smile.
Karina walked in shortly after with some vegetables and fruits, and Harlow in tow.
"No," she walking over to Gore.
He picked her up, then ruffled her hair.
"You look different," he noted, while playing in her hair, that was now down to her shoulders.
He studied Harlow's features, thinking that she didn't look like that a week ago.
"Is she yours?" The witch asked.
"I guess." Gore didn't know how to explain what the child was to him.
"Well, she's lucky to have you. I never knew my family." The witch held her head low.
"What's her name?" She asked after, then tried to reach for Harlow, which caused the child to hiss.
Gore looked down at her, then at Karina, who was leaning on the door frame with a surprised look on her face. Neither of them had never heard her do something like that before.
"She doesn't seem to like me." The witch gave a little laugh.
Karina was still leaning on the doorpost, even though glad that her brother had found his mate, but she found that there was something off about her.
"I will leave you three to get acquainted," Karina said before leaving the room.
"She's cute," the witch smiled.
Gore nod his head, agreeing with the witch.
"She is also a handful."
There was silence until Gore said.
"I will leave you to get some rest."
Before Gore could get up, Harlow somehow made an image for only him to see.
He never knew she could do that either, but what the image showed shocked him more.
Gore called an emergency meeting after the image in his mind faded.
He was looking down at Harlow as he went to his office, not able to phantom how a child her age could do such thing.
"What is it?" Karina asked, as everyone was now in the office. Gore ran a hand through his hair, then looked down at Harlow."Harlow, can you please show them what you showed me?" He asked softly. The baby only stared at him with green eyes full of innocence. "Please?" He begged. Karina opened her mouth to say something, then gasped when a scene played out in her mind. Derek, who stood beside her, was frowning. (In their heads, it showed the pack house in flames. Then the evil vampire King's face coming to the forefront, and the witch beside him.) Puzzled, Derek gazed at Harlow, then Gore. "The Vampire wants the witch back, but why?" "How does Harlow even know that?" Karina asked. "Either way, we should be on the alert. She is my mate. I am not willing to lose her to that madman." Gore told them. "The witch is your mate?" Alexis spoke up. She had a strong hate for witches, because one killed their other brother a few years back. "You know that we can't question the fates,
Selina lay back on the bed with a smile. ‘This is easier than I thought.'She rolled over on the bed, only to see Harlow staring at her."Come here, you little cutie," she reached out for the baby."Rrraw," Harlow let out, then disappeared from the room."Brat." Selina said with a smile, before laying back down to stare up at the ceiling.'These wolves won't know what hit them until it's too late.'Not long after, Selina got up to go take a shower. While she was allowing the hot water to burn her skin, Gore entered and waited for her to get done.He didn't expect her to be naked and dripping wet, but that was how she stood before him with a smile. His jaw dropped as his eyes explored her perfect body."Like what you see?" Selina stuck her chest out. That action caused Gore to growl out, but his eyes were fixed on the rising and fall of her breasts. She winked at him before turning her back. The moment she did, Gore went up behind her.At first, Selina shuddered and was about to pull a
Selina looked up with a smile, "just reading her a little bedtime story."Alexis frowned at the witch, "why are you reading a book like that to her, telling her that wolves are bad, and that vampires are good?"Selina just smiled on as she placed Harlow on the ground.“Wolves aren’t bad Harlow. Come, let me get you to bed.’’ Alexis picked the baby up, then looked her over for any injuries."It is the truth, young wolf. You worthless flea bags won't walk this earth or its dimensions much longer. Once we have this child, that's it for you, rabid creatures." Selena told her.“We? Who are you working with and why are you here?’’"Bat wot," Harlow said.“Sorry, did I say too much? Maybe I channelled someone else. It happens from time to time.’’ "I don't know what you are up to, but just know that I will rip your throat out." Alexis threatened.Selina walked over to Alexis with a smirk. "Do you think Gore will like the way you are talking to his mate?"Alexis growled at her before grabbing
The next morning, Alexis walked behind Gore as he head downstairs."Gore, stop being so damn stubborn and listen to me. Your mate is up to something, she was telling Harlow that w-"Gore's snarling cut her off."I know that you all hate witches, but she is my mate and just as how you all accepted Harlow, you should accept Selina as well because she isn't going anywhere soon."Alexis gaped at his words. No matter how hard she tried to tell Gore about what she heard Selina telling Harlow, he only snapped at her, dismissing what she had to say. He was only threatening to kill her if she got too close to Selina."Fine, but just you wait until shit hits the fan, because that bitch isn't what you think she is." Alexis snarled back at her brother before going to the kitchen for breakfast.Gore ignored her words because he didn't want to hurt his sister, even though deep down he knew that something was off as well. But he wanted to give Selina the benefit if the doubt, willing to wait for her
Gore spent nearly a week trying to get Selina's attention, but she seemed too busy for him, disappearing before the crack of dawn only to appear late at nights. She also played mind games with him whenever she was around. One minute she was all over him, flirting and touching him. Then the next, she would push him away and make jokes about wolves. He was starting to believe Alexis, but not fully, because he had finally found his mate and there was no way that he could think of her as a bad person. He was afraid to confront her in fear that she may take offence and leave.Gore sighed, trying to keep his mind off Selina as he typed a document to send to another pack.Harlow, who was on his lap, was no help, because she kept hitting the keyboard, which caused random words to be typed. He held her tiny hands in one of his, but it only upset her."Muna," she said. He felt a shock and had to let go of her."Harlow did you just do that?" Gore asked. She looked up at him, then went back to hi
Alexis walked over to her brothers. The cut on her lip had already healed, but her face still stung from being slapped several times.Gore roared out before shifting back into his human form, "they wanted Harlow.""Why would they want a baby?" Derek frowned.Gore shook his head. "I left her in my office. I'm going to make sure she is ok."All Gore knew was if witches and vampires were working together to come after Harlow, it meant serious trouble.Gore tried to reach for the child, but she only backed herself more under the desk, crying, "bat wot."He didn't blame her for being afraid of him. Seeing his wolf form must have been terrifying for her."No Harlow, I won't hurt you." He reached out a hand for her again."No." She screamed louder.Gore felt a small shock running through his body."Please Harlow, I will never hurt you, no bad wolf, it's me Gore." He plead. She stopped crying to look up at him."Gor," she blinked, then she slowly walked towards him.He sighed, hugging her to
"Wow, did Harlow make this?" Derek placed his hand on the force field, then to test how solid it was, he gave it a punch. He groaned out from the impact, which almost broke the bones in his hand.Harlow turned her head slowly to look at Derek, ''bad,'' She said.Karina could see everyone looking on with slackened faces. Most seemed impressed that a baby made something like that. But she knew they were skeptic, few of them weren't so accepting of Harlow to their pack. And now with so much things surrounding her, she was sure they would start talking. She tried to figure out how to get inside so they could assist Gore, but she was on the alert again. The least they needed now was another surprised attack.Gore looked at Harlow as the force field stayed up around them."H-how are you doing this?" He tried to sit up but couldn't. His chest erupted with pain, and now, with each breath, he felt worse."Gurt?" Harlow tried to touch him, but her glowing palms burnt his skin. She pulled her
Gore opened his eyes to the raising sun, and the feeling of being watched.“Gurt!" Harlow was excited to see him awake. He leaned his head slightly to the left to look at the smiling child.“Gurt!" She jumped on him, causing him to wince."Harlow," he grunted out, his chest still hurt, and his wound hadn't healed yet.She smiled at him, still sitting on his chest."Easy on him Harlow," Karina pulled her off Gore's chest, then pushed her gently out the door."Go check up on Johan, I'm sure she wants to see your face and play," Karina told her.Harlow pouted, but didn't try to enter the room again."Don't let her back in here. I don't want her to see me like this. Weak and broken." Gore managed out.Karina rolled her eyes at her brother, "even the strong have to fall down sometimes."Gore lay back down, closing his eyes. “How did she know I was hurt?"Karina shook her head, "I don't know, but she was trying to tell me you were in danger all along, maybe if I had listened to her-"Gore g
