LOGINRichard Wolfe
Richard held up his wristwatch to look at the time. It was noon. Two hours had gone by since they left Los Angeles. That meant two hours of silence, which continued even as they alighted from the plane to get into Alpha Jett's SUV. Richard could sense the anxiety in both of his companions. Tessa sat with both hands fisted on her thighs while the Alpha's hands were tight around the wheel with his eyes focused ahead. The two were troubled. Alpha Jett's mood did not bother Richard. Although he was mildly curious about his relationship with Sophie. Richard's sole concern was the female in the backseat. His mate. When they left L. A, she'd been nervous, but quite cheerful. She had gradually become anxious with every passing moment as they came near Louisiana. Glancing at her on the rear view now, he thought she looked a little bit scared. Richard was an only child. He could not imagine what reuniting with a long lost sibling felt like. But he never thought such a memorable event could inspire fear and worry. Weeks ago, he'd taken her out of the pack to see the streets of Los Angeles. She tried to run away. When he asked why, she claimed it was because of her sister. Now, Richard found himself wondering if that was the truth. It's not that he didn't trust his mate. But they had a very interesting history. The first time he met her, she was about to get rãped. He'd saved her, of course. The second time they met, she was among the captives brought to the pack by Forest Moon warriors. Which meant they caught her outside the borders. Next, she'd seduced him and tried to use him to get her freedom. They were past all of that now. But Richard was still learning about her, and he couldn't help but wonder how she and her twin got separated years ago. Maybe he would find out soon. The past month had been a busy one for the both of them. In fact, mere days ago, she was not just a captive of the Forest Moon but an alleged enemy of his Alpha. What a relief that all of that was behind them now. Richard felt like he didn't yet know his mate well. He hadn't had the opportunity to ask important stuff about her life in her former pack. Maybe there was no need to. Alpha Jett was right here. He'd shown up after a very important ceremony and was now taking them to meet the twin. Tessa was supposed to be thrilled, but she looked the opposite right now. Richard turned around again to look at her. She forced a nervous smile. "We're almost there," Alpha Jett mumbled. Moments later, they reached a highway as the Alpha sped towards the motel ahead. "I thought she'll be in the pack," Richard muttered. "I can't believe she's in Jefferson," Tessa said. Her voice was a whisper. "All those years..." When Richard looked her way again, he wanted to take her hand, but she was in the backseat. He was about to reach out anyway but froze when he spotted a figure ahead. Female. Werewolf. His heart gave a violent jerk at the sight. Her profile was the first thing he saw. Then he reminded himself that he was prepared for this moment. His mate, Tessa, had an identical twin, and he was ready for their first meeting. The girl was walking hurriedly towards a small camry as they drew closer to the motel. Jett made a reckless turn and skidded to a stop right in front of the car. That was when Richard saw her face. Jett had gone pale with shock when he first laid eyes on Tessa. It was Richard's turn to feel the same. He sat unmoving in the car, taking in the girl's features as Jett opened the door and climbed out. **** Jett POV I could not say I was surprised that the little bird was about to run away. In fact, I was more surprised by the fact that she'd waited until now. According to Clove, rather than try to leave, she'd actually ordered food, relaxed, and enjoyed herself in the hours that I was away. Strange chic, indeed! Something had her attention now. Or someone. She froze with one leg inside what could only be her taxi. Her face blanched from shock. The sound of my car door opening was distant and faint. I followed her eyes to find Tessa jumping out of the backseat with teary eyes on the raven. "Tess," she gasped. "Oh, Soph..." Tessa moved with faltering steps towards her twin. Meanwhile, the human cab guy had grown impatient. He got out of the car, muttering to himself before yelling, "What the hell is going on? Lady, do you know these..." he forgot the rest of the words as he looked from Tessa to Raven. Clove was also speaking now, "Miss, I'm afraid I can't let you leave." I reached for my purse and began to retrieve cash to pay off the human when all of a sudden, something caught my eyes. Claws. Raven was no longer shocked. Her eyes shone with hostility. Her claws and fangs were visible as she spat the words, "This bitch!" She slammed the car door with such force. With a snarl, she charged towards Tessa to attack. "Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!" Richard sang while rushing out of the car. He and Clove were too slow. Tessa didn't see the blow coming until Raven's fist landed on her chin and sent her reeling backwards.Sophie POV Forest Moon's Luna was a wise female. No wonder her people loved her so. Her advise was solid. In all of my interactions with her, I could see that she was living by those very words. She was simply Sara Reign, Nick Reign's wife and mate, and Alex's mother. She didn't have to be anyone else just because her mate was the Alpha. When a situation required her to do Luna stuff, she handled it with flair. The time came for the ceremony. Jett came to get me when Tessa's makeup was almost done. As he put my hand in crook of his, I resolved to put away all anxieties. There was nothing to be worried about. I was his mate. That was all I had to be. Anything Luna-related would be dealt with when it presented itself. I didn't have to be a certain way just because I would be called Luna Sophie. Soon, everyone was assembled in Forest Moon's grand hall, and the ceremony began.
Sophie POVNo matter how much I tried to act cool, I could not hide my excitement at seeing my mate. Every time. My wolf lept inside, anticipating his closeness. He strode in, already dressed except for his suit. Beautiful green eyes moved over me appreciatively as I rose from the dresser. "You look lovely," he said, his voice a little hoarse. "My Luna.""Thank you. So do you, my Alpha."He smiled broadly. "Are you ready to leave?" I nodded. Then he took me by the hand and led me out.****My own mating ceremony was in three days. I was counting every minute to the day. Mrs Blackwood was handling everything, so I had nothing to worry about. All anxieties about being Luna were absent. For now. Jett was here, sitting across from me. We were in Los Angeles, though still inside the plane. We would be landing in a few minutes. I wished we wouldn't. Not yet. Jett's company was amazing. We talked all the way here, sharing stories about our childhood. How disappointing that he kept his ha
Sophie POVI was right about the near-empty massive chamber. It used to belong to Alpha Laz, my birth father. Jett asked if we could turn it into our bedroom after the mating ceremony, and I said yes. It was being furnished and now had a large king-size bed. A fancy dresser had just been installed at the far end, too. Jett continued to sleep in his room for now while I slept here. It was the first day of the crescent moon and Tessa's mating ceremony. I was getting ready to leave for the Forest Moon even though the ceremony didn't start until dusk. Kyle's mom, Mrs Blackwood, had recommended "the best" stylist in the pack - Bella Knowles. She was here now with her assistant, Tanya. Both were helping me get dressed to leave for Los Angeles. Vera Hazard waited by the door with her back resting on the wall. It was clear that she'd grown bored. "I could wait outside, Miss Nile," she said. "You could. I just want you to wait in here." It's not that I was scared of the unfamiliar ome
Jett POVJake regarded the witch with pure distaste. I was about to ask if it was Merritt who invited her when Jake gritted,"Do you know she tried to exorcise your sister once?"The female looked like she would say something to defend herself, but she shook her head as if deciding it wasn't worth it. She rested her back on the tree behind her, watching me carefully, probably waiting for my protest, too. She saved my Raven. Even if we were squared according to her, I believed I owed her. Plus, she and I were now connected, whether Jake liked it or not."Jett, did you hear me?""Yeah, seems that was a misunderstanding."The witch was staring at the gift in my hand now. I expected her comment, but she said nothing.Jake, who had shown no interest in it all the way here, was now staring at what I held, too. The witch's presence seemed to have made him grumpy."That thing in your hand - what the hell is it, a peace offering?" He didn't wait for me to respond. "Did you say misunderstanding
Jett POV Richard and his mate returned to Los Angeles once the latter was convinced that Raven was alright. We came to an agreement before they left. The two would have their mating ceremony before we did. Richard argued that he had waited longer than I have, and it was all my fault for sending Raven to prison instead of getting together as soon as I met her. He was right. My mate didn't mind waiting. The warriors of the Forest Moon stuck around after Richard and Tessa were gone. Raven was extremely relieved that there would be no war between the Ruby Bloodmoon and the Night Storm. I didn't know she'd been thinking about it, had been deeply worried that a war was coming. Not until she asked. She wasn't surprised when I explained that Sabrina acted against the wishes of her pack and Alpha. She didn't know Alpha Merritt very well, but the few moments she'd spent with him was enough to be able to tell that he wasn't evil like his sister. "So but you're saying he genuinely just
Sophie POVAll I had dreamt about in the last few days was Jett Chase confessing his love for me. I'd been in the middle of that very fantasy when he walked in moments ago. Not once had I thought to consider the implications of what I wished for. My mate was the Alpha. If we got together, of course, I would be Luna. Why did I never think about this?Me? Luna? Panic mingled with all the other emotions coursing through me. A part of me wanted to fall into his arms, to kiss him and tell him I felt the same way. That I wanted him, too. The other part wanted to run far away. He was saying what I'd fantasized about for so long. Except for the Luna part.Squeezing my hand gently, he went on, "Look, Raven. I know I've been a fool. I wanted to hate you so much because of my history with Alpha Laz, your birth father. I tried really hard not to fall. But if I was being honest, I would say I've wanted you from that first night at the club. I've wanted to get to know you and be with you. I've w
