Richard Wolfe
Richard held up his wristwatch to look at the time. It was noon. Two hours had gone by since they left Los Angeles. That meant two hours of silence, which continued even as they alighted from the plane to get into Alpha Jett's SUV. Richard could sense the anxiety in both of his companions. Tessa sat with both hands fisted on her thighs while the Alpha's hands were tight around the wheel with his eyes focused ahead. The two were troubled. Alpha Jett's mood did not bother Richard. Although he was mildly curious about his relationship with Sophie. Richard's sole concern was the female in the backseat. His mate. When they left L. A, she'd been nervous, but quite cheerful. She had gradually become anxious with every passing moment as they came near Louisiana. Glancing at her on the rear view now, he thought she looked a little bit scared. Richard was an only child. He could not imagine what reuniting with a long lost sibling felt like. But he never thought such a memorable event could inspire fear and worry. Weeks ago, he'd taken her out of the pack to see the streets of Los Angeles. She tried to run away. When he asked why, she claimed it was because of her sister. Now, Richard found himself wondering if that was the truth. It's not that he didn't trust his mate. But they had a very interesting history. The first time he met her, she was about to get rãped. He'd saved her, of course. The second time they met, she was among the captives brought to the pack by Forest Moon warriors. Which meant they caught her outside the borders. Next, she'd seduced him and tried to use him to get her freedom. They were past all of that now. But Richard was still learning about her, and he couldn't help but wonder how she and her twin got separated years ago. Maybe he would find out soon. The past month had been a busy one for the both of them. In fact, mere days ago, she was not just a captive of the Forest Moon but an alleged enemy of his Alpha. What a relief that all of that was behind them now. Richard felt like he didn't yet know his mate well. He hadn't had the opportunity to ask important stuff about her life in her former pack. Maybe there was no need to. Alpha Jett was right here. He'd shown up after a very important ceremony and was now taking them to meet the twin. Tessa was supposed to be thrilled, but she looked the opposite right now. Richard turned around again to look at her. She forced a nervous smile. "We're almost there," Alpha Jett mumbled. Moments later, they reached a highway as the Alpha sped towards the motel ahead. "I thought she'll be in the pack," Richard muttered. "I can't believe she's in Jefferson," Tessa said. Her voice was a whisper. "All those years..." When Richard looked her way again, he wanted to take her hand, but she was in the backseat. He was about to reach out anyway but froze when he spotted a figure ahead. Female. Werewolf. His heart gave a violent jerk at the sight. Her profile was the first thing he saw. Then he reminded himself that he was prepared for this moment. His mate, Tessa, had an identical twin, and he was ready for their first meeting. The girl was walking hurriedly towards a small camry as they drew closer to the motel. Jett made a reckless turn and skidded to a stop right in front of the car. That was when Richard saw her face. Jett had gone pale with shock when he first laid eyes on Tessa. It was Richard's turn to feel the same. He sat unmoving in the car, taking in the girl's features as Jett opened the door and climbed out. **** Jett POV I could not say I was surprised that the little bird was about to run away. In fact, I was more surprised by the fact that she'd waited until now. According to Clove, rather than try to leave, she'd actually ordered food, relaxed, and enjoyed herself in the hours that I was away. Strange chic, indeed! Something had her attention now. Or someone. She froze with one leg inside what could only be her taxi. Her face blanched from shock. The sound of my car door opening was distant and faint. I followed her eyes to find Tessa jumping out of the backseat with teary eyes on the raven. "Tess," she gasped. "Oh, Soph..." Tessa moved with faltering steps towards her twin. Meanwhile, the human cab guy had grown impatient. He got out of the car, muttering to himself before yelling, "What the hell is going on? Lady, do you know these..." he forgot the rest of the words as he looked from Tessa to Raven. Clove was also speaking now, "Miss, I'm afraid I can't let you leave." I reached for my purse and began to retrieve cash to pay off the human when all of a sudden, something caught my eyes. Claws. Raven was no longer shocked. Her eyes shone with hostility. Her claws and fangs were visible as she spat the words, "This bitch!" She slammed the car door with such force. With a snarl, she charged towards Tessa to attack. "Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!" Richard sang while rushing out of the car. He and Clove were too slow. Tessa didn't see the blow coming until Raven's fist landed on her chin and sent her reeling backwards.Jett POVWhat gave Sabrina the right? This was unacceptable. All around was tense silence and suspense while I waited for her to provide an excuse for her action. "Were you about to make her wash these?" I asked again.Instead of speaking, she just stared at me with tightened lips and reddened cheek. Her eyes were alight with indignation as she began to speak,"They had to have sent her your clothes in error, so I had Denise gather the laundry..." she swallowed, blinking fast and looking away. I glanced at Raven and was once again distracted by how she held on the shirts I'd worn in the last few days. Clove had nagged me all night about that kiss. He'd insisted that it was essential for pack members saw me punish her for yesterday's mistake. I wasn't surprise that he'd taken my clothes to her. At least, he was not as thoughtless as the fiancée. "Kyle, you and Vera should escort Miss Nile to carry on with her day," I said, dismissing them.Raven avoided looking at me as she was led
Sabrina Cliffe(Cont: The night before,)Maureen Atkins was the pretty brunette who ran the pack's restaurant for ranked wolves. Though a warrior by birth, she chose to use her skills and claws in the kitchen instead of the outdoors. Having the new Alpha eat at her restaurant was something she'd been looking forward to all day.So when the Beta called to cancel, it felt like her heart was being torn in two. Then he'd asked her to bring the meal to the mansion. Maureen was more than delighted as she and the servant set to work on serving the Alpha and Luna-to-be. To her great disappointment, she was not allowed to wait to see how Alpha Jett liked the meal."Enjoy the meal, Alpha," she called as the Beta urged her out of the dining. "And Miss Cliffe."Sabrina did not spare her a glance. It was Alpha Jett who murmured,"Yeah. Thanks."During the date, Sabrina did all she could to draw Jett's focus back to her. She did not mention what happened before the meal in all of the forced chitch
Sophie POV "Are those his words?" I asked again when the Beta merely stared at me. He scoffed. "What does it matter?" It was my turn to just stare without an answer. It didn't matter if Jett sent him here to tell me to forget about the kiss. I should take the good advice and pretend it never happened. My focus should be on important things like waiting for Andy's help. When Clove left, I sat staring at Jett's clothes. The shirt he wore last night to his date was in the pile, too. It was the same shirt he had on when he held me against the wall and kissed me. I picked it up hesitantly, unconsciously smoothing the linen with my thumb. The urge to bury my face in it was so strong that I quickly threw it back down and stood up. Minutes later, I'd cleaned up and put on one of the clothes in the drawer. Then I sat waiting for the warriors to come open my door. Kyle appeared soon. He held the door open, and a maid walked in with a tray. My stomach growled at the smell of bacon and toa
Sophie POVJett was behind me and the guards still. I wanted to tell him that his date was waiting, but I dreaded talking to him at the moment, so I waited as Vera punched in the codes and held the door open.I walked into the room without sparing a glance his way. Vera didn't close the door immediately. A part of me grew scared that he would come in. The other part desperately wanted him to come inside and tell me he was sorry for imprisoning me. For not believing that I was telling the truth about his friend. The latter was the foolish, childish, romantic part of me. Just because he kissed me didn't mean he would immediately have a change of heart. The door remained open for the longest time. I stood with my back to it, unsure what I wanted him to do."Alpha, Miss Cliffe is-""I'm coming!" He snapped at his Beta. My anger returned at the mention of his fiancée. I walked away, straight into the bathroom to shut myself in there. Minutes passed before I heard the door swing shut, thou
Sophie POV I forgot all of my anger and frustration the moment Jett's lips touched mine. All thoughts of fighting him off vanished as his body pressed against mine. The hand that held me against the wall had moved and now had my chin imprisoned while he kissed me. His other hand now rested on my waist. His thumb lifted my blouse ever so slightly, brushing my bare flesh. I arched closer as he teased me with his skillful tongue, demanding access into my very soul. He gave a soft groan, his body pressing tighter against mine as the kiss deepened. I was lost in the feeling and needed more. My fist flattened on his chest and began to go round his neck to pull his closer. Then came the throat clearing. I jerked at the sound as his lips left mine. Only then did I recall that Andy and Vera were down the hallway and might've been our audience. Though it was the Beta who called, "Alpha." He'd just appeared from the same door through which we entered. I was dazed and unsure whether to stan
Jett POVI left the mansion at six minutes before 7 PM and didn't plan to end up in my Chief Gamma's office. The thing was, Sabrina and I were supposed to go out for dinner, like Clove advised. We were to leave at 7. I was so sure she wouldn't be ready yet. Females took longer to dress up. Everyone knew that.I was ready. And Sophie was not back. So I came out of my chamber to check if she was on her way up. This check was necessary because it was past time for them to bring her back. But there was no sign of her or her warriors. I'd ordered the new head servant to leave all punishment to me. No one was to lay a finger on her for any reason, and especially not for this morning's incident. Punishing her was my sole right. No one else's. They wouldn't go against my order. Yet I'd been restless as hell. The idea of calling Vera or Kyle to ask why they weren't back was unappealing. Those two already suspected that I cared too much for the girl, and they were not alone. I shouldn't give
