Alpha Moon's Human Mate

Since the beginning of time, werewolves co-existed with humans. Both parties were aware of the others existence and lived in harmony.

Well, it took several terms, conditions, rules, laws, fights, and jurisdictions, but finally they came to live together in peace. The government for the humans accepted the werewolf rules and their territories were left alone.

Humans did have permission to visit their lands, but inquired a thorough check-up before they could enter. If they did trespass, there were consequences that the government needed to face.

It was a time where humans befriended werewolves and even married and had families.

It was a time a female Alpha was as much feared and obeyed as a male one. It was a time of pure harmony, peace and there was no rule break for over a decade.

Let's introduce myself now.

I am Audrey Rose Moon. The Alpha of the Moon Knight pack. One of the strongest there was.

My father Joseph Moon had retired from his job as an Alpha since I turned 18 just the previous year. He handed me my rightful position and power, since then, I have been doing quite well, I guess.

I hoped so.

I dedicated all of my time in doing plans and prints on how to thrive my pack even more. Although we have already thrived to almost 800 members now, but I still wanted to do more. So that we could take as much shelter-less people as possible.

So that no one ever have to feel homeless or lonely.

I completed my school in a human combined one. I wanted that to learn the human ways better so in future we did not have any complications.

Due to the population of our pack, making us the biggest, other Alphas respected me even more than usual, and there's a literal rumor that I was deadly. While all I did was protect and served my people.

We even took humans in if they need us, and eventually we all became a family. One soul bounded in several bodies.

Speaking of souls, I haven't found my soulmate yet. My mate was still out there. I didn't even know if he was a human or werewolf.

Yes, humans could also be mates of werewolves. They could feel the sparks, tingles, the scent. It's same for everything except they didn't have wolves residing within. But it didn't matter since the bond was as stronger as any other wolf couple.

Even though I stayed buried in all the paperworks of my pack duties, I still wondered about my mate. Where he was, or what was he doing at this moment. But my thoughts didn't last long because of the lined up piles of paper in front of me.

I was born with a special power, differenciating me from the others.

I could feel the pain of my mate even though I haven't met him yet. No wolf was able to do so untill they mated and completed the process. But I did.

Almost every night, my body burned. I knew it's not my body that was hurting physically.

It's my mate's. The idea rose a fire within me and my wolf howled in pain, our heart tightened, and growls erupted and echoed inside my room, spreading throughout the whole pack.

No one approached me on those nights. They knew no amount of consolation could calm a soul that's unable to protect their mate.

As I still haven't found him yet, I drowned myself in work to hide from the failure of a mate I felt.

I was gonna be 19 in a few months, and my wolf and I, we longed for our mate. To get lost in his eyes, to hold him in my arms. To protect him, to have him by my side.

I sighed and shook away the lingering thoughts of my mate and refocused on the file I was currently going through.

The Crescent pack wanted to merge a part of our territory and start some business through that path. There's no detailed information on what the business was, but I could sense it's nothing legal. So, I'm not sure if I could pass that proposal.

A light knock at the door interrupted my attention and I whispered a small 'come in', not averting my eyes off the file.

"It's time for your college, Audie."

I finally looked up to see my Beta and also my best friend, Aiden, peeking from the doorway.

"Coming." I replied and he nodded with a smile before leaving the office.

I have already been trained in all sorts of field, I did not need further education but I needed the degree.

Dad had already got the papers signed for my early graduation, which would be exactly after three months of class. I hoped these months would go well without any havoc.

I put down my glasses and got off the spinny chair, neatly putting away the checked files on one side and remaining ones on the other.

I liked being particular with my work environment. No one was allowed to enter here and disrupt the sequence of my workloads.

I skipped up the stairs to my room to get ready. I took a long and warm shower and got clothes out for the day.

Since it was the first day, I went with a simple white tee with my denim jacket, black skinny jeans and converse. I combed my long, jet black hair and let them loose over my back.

I didn't like using make-up, only going with lip gloss, and light blush before deeming myself ready for the day.

"Let's go." I said to Aiden as he stood by the car, waiting for me. He'd go to the same college as me and also graduate with me. Same went for my Gamma, Hannah.

The car ride was silent till I broke it.

"What about the south border? No sight of rouges, right?" I asked Hannah through the rearview mirror.

"So far, no sightings except for a few humans wanting to visit the park." She informed.

"Good. And the new group? Are they training well?" This question was indicated to Aiden who's in charge of the new recruitments.

All the wolves at the age of 17, following their first shift, needed to attend the self-defense classes. And if some have extra strength and wish, they applied for the warrior and more advanced training sessions.

I needed my pack prepared for each and everything. No matter how small the threat might be.

"They're brilliant. Very hard working and punctual. I believe all of them will apply for the warrior trainings this season." He said proudly and flashed me a quick grin.

My chest puffed with pride and I let a small smile twitch on my lips. Of course it didn't go unnoticed by my best friend.

"Is that a smile I see there?" Aiden smirked, pointing his finger at me.

I huffed and swatted his hand away, looking out the window.

"Shut up, Aiden."

"I do see a smile. Right there." He then shoved his finger on my cheek. I growled at him and grabbed his finger in my grip.

"Ouch!" He cried out, making me smirk in victory.

"You're such a baby, Aiden." Hannah scoffed from the backseat as we both high fived each other.

"You two are mean." He pouted and stuck his tongue out at me.

"Definitely a baby." I confirmed.

I spotted the brick building come in view and released a breath I didn't know I was holding. Aiden parked the car and we three hopped out, straightening our outfits and swiveling our backpacks over our shoulders.

My college was also combined with human students and teachers, so the smell of humans filled my nose as soon as we entered through the glass doors.

As I walked to my locker, among all the scents of regular humans, an individual scent hit me the most.

It took me off guard and from the force of it, I stumbled slightly, easing myself by gripping my locker door tight in my fist.

The frgrance was of gentle sea breeze. It reminded me of the fresh grass dancing along the gushing wind, the rising of the dawn, it felt like heaven and everything in-between.

I knew what it was. And I knew who the scent belonged to. Since the day I turned 18, my wolf has been nagging with one word in my mind 24/7.
