Chapter 5

Kyle's POV

I took a not-so-busy road as I head back to my cell in other to avoid being seen by the guards. And as I got closer to my cell, I heard a little hush voice, it sounded as they were having some sort of meeting and my antenna immediately went up. Like who wouldn't want to be let in on a bit of juicy gossip. I could have just ignored and gone sit my tiny ass in my prison.

But the curious part of me wanted to find out what's going on. So I moved closer to where the voices were coming from. On getting there, I perceived the smell of the wolfsbane plant. On a closer look, I saw a woman wearing a very long cape had most of her face covered, addressing a group of humans or so I presume.

"Just make sure you empty the whole content on him and let him burn to hell" I heard her say.

"When will you like this to happen" one of the men asked.

"It's a few days to his eighteenth year birthday, you can use that as my gift to him on that day, but I will let you know if there are any changes in my plans," she said,  while a mean-looking man standing next to her, handed a bag that looked like money bag to the men.

"Yes, ma'am" one of the men answered as they courtesy before her and started walking out. I hid so well so I don't get noticed.

Wolfsbane plants are considered very dangerous for werewolves, a little contact on the skin can cause severe burns on the skin. Mother had me immune to it through the use of magic.

Now if they are planning to use that on anyone in this pack, then that person is as good as dead, not of course if I can help it.

I started tracking the men to know if they would give out any information as regards who they were planning to use the wolfsbane plant on. After some time of training them without any success in getting what I wanted to hear, I decided to go back to the spot they were standing before to see if I could get any clue.

Still, I got nothing, I yawned tiredly as I walked back to my prison.

Stupid people be thinking they can keep me locked in. The guard was still sleeping when I got there. I entered the cell and contemplated on how to take the guard back to his position without having to stress myself.

I could just clap my hands and have the wind take him outside. But unfortunately, I will have to be a real witch to do that.

Life can be so unfair

I grumbled, as I dragged out the guard outside my cell and locked the door. I was so exhausted after putting the guard back to his position, after which, I undid the spell and slept off, leaving the guard to ponder on what just happened to him

***

I woke up the next morning feeling tired, all over my body was aching seriously from the bad condition I slept in. As soon as I peeled off my eyelids, I noticed people shadows hovering over me and I look towards the door to see six pairs of eyes on me, the woman among them stared at me with so much interest and what I may consider admiration.

She must be someone important because her clothes and general disposition looked and smelled very expensive.

"Who are you?" she asked, her voice laced with authority and her eyes never left mine for a second. Her voice sounded so familiar but since it's still morning and too early to think, I could not remember where I have heard it.

"My name is Kyle" I answered matching her gaze with mine. She chuckles and beckons on the guards to leave us alone.

"I'm afraid that's not what I heard Kyle, I heard that you are a witch and that you have been putting your ear and nose where they don't belong," she said with a mischievous smile that only seems to linger at the side of her lips.

"I'm not... "

"Don't sweat it, darling, please forgive my manners. My name is Miranda and I am the Luna of this park" She said with an air of grace. Now I know that she is someone important.

"Nice to meet you, ma'am," I said bowing my head. I have heard that the Luna of a park is considered very powerful just as the alpha.

Maybe I too should have introduced myself as Kyle, witch wannabe, and her prisoner. But, I don't think she would find it funny, one call tell from the first impression that she surely enjoys the title of being the Luna, and even though my guts tell me she is a very cunning person, I found myself liking her. if there is any chance of me becoming a Luna, I should stick with her, and I may be crazy but I know she sorts of looks like the older version of me, except that my hair is black.

"beautiful necklace you have there," she said, as she fixes her eyes on my mum's pentagram necklace I had on. Which made me remember my promise to my mum. which was, to never wear it out of our territory.

I seem to have been breaking too many promises these days.

"It's my mother's I said absent-mindedly while caressing the piece of jewelry

"So Your mother is a witch then," she asked.

"Yes," I replied boldly. I'm not ashamed of my mother's powers so why should I not be bold to declare who she is.

"She is a good witch though" I quickly added in my mum's defense.

"And you are not a witch? Just a wolf" she asked skeptically, as a smile escape her lips. Which made me feel stupid, because if my mother is a witch, then I should be a witch. why am I just realizing this? Why am I not h? I pondered within me.

“Come, let's walk together," she said as she beckons on the guards to open the gate.

“I have a proposition for you, I am sure you know that we have zero tolerance for witches in this pack, the king had already decided to have you executed by tonight. But I can make that disappear if you agree to the proposition that I am about to offer you" she said as if waiting for me to respond.

"I don't understand, how do you mean?" I asked.

"I mean the king has given the orders that you should be executed tonight," she said again emphasizing executed just in case I missed that part when she said it earlier, of which I didn't, I was just making sure I heard her correctly.

"But I am not a witch!" I said hysterically.

"I heard you the first time," she said as she gave me a somewhat cruel smile.

"So what should I do?" I asked.

"I want to you to marry my son, or you face the king's wrath by nightfall she said.

“Marry? But I am not yet eighteen, and perhaps your son should already have a mate”

“No, he doesn't have any either as he is yet to clock eighteen, but you will tell anyone who cares to listen that you are eighteen and that Richard is your mate”

“Richard?” I said unconsciously

“Yes, Richard. He Is the alpha in waiting and he will need to take a bride before ascending the throne and you, my darling will make the perfect bride for him”

“But why me? I mean if he is going to be the alpha, he should have tons of girls throwing themselves at his feet” I said, not liking any bit of this proposition.

“If I must be honest with you my little darling, your powers as a witch are what distinguish you from others as you are not exactly pretty”

But...” I wanted to correct her again for not being a witch but it seems she has made up her mind that I was a witch and any argument from me won't change that, and besides, she just called me ugly, I am going to show her what ugly means. So I agreed to her proposal, I could just take it for a game and run away once things get out of control.

“Consider yourself our guest while you are here, you will have a room prepared for you in the packhouse. I have a feeling we are going to be very good friends," She said as she led me to a huge sumptuous three-story building. The palace was huge and beautiful with so many guards and servants.

The environment suddenly reminded me of how dirty and unkept I have been for the past couple of days.

"Welcome to my home,” said the queen as we got inside the building. it was impressively expensive and nicely air-conditioned. She called on one of the servants to take me to a guest on the second floor, after which she asked me to go freshen up and be ready for breakfast. I thanked her after which I followed the servant.

I was ushered into a modest but elegant room. I made myself feel at home as soon as the servant left as I let my body fall on the soft well-laid bed.

The doorbell rang and I stood up to go check who it was. "Good Morning ma," said a servant holding a set of beautiful well-tailored clothes.

“Her royal highness,” asked that I bring these clothes to you. She said with her head bow.

"Thanks," I said as I collected the clothes from her. I went into the bathroom to run the heater, as I took a long bath, the body shampoo smelled so nice and I massaged the leather into my skin. when I was done, I cleaned up and got into the dress the queen had sent for me. I knotted my hair up and took a final look at myself. I looked beautiful in the flowered kneel-length dress that the queen had sent me I can't remember being this expensively beautiful.

I stepped out of the room and couldn't help but notice the little glances from the guards.

As I got to the first floor I was welcomed by the queen as she looked stunned to see me transform into a prettier version of me.

"You look amazing,” the queen said as we walked towards the dining table.

The dining table was decorated with different types of meals, it was more of a feast. we both sat down to eat when we were joined by a boy, probably the same age as me.

“This is my son,” the queen said as she stood to welcome the boy. The wait is this Richard? He was looking shabby and weak and walked with so much pride and arrogance.

"Nice to meet you,” I said as I stood up to give him a handshake, but he just brushed me aside and made his way to the King's chair, where he made himself comfortable.

"Richard is the alpha in waiting" the queen continued. Alpha, My tiny ass my wolf said as I tried not to show the small chuckles that were threatening to escape from my lips.

"Richard, this is Kyle, your future mate," The queen said as she smiled at me.

"What! Couldn't you get a prettier witch than this" Richard said to his mum, ignoring the fact that I was right there at the table with him?

Here I was thinking, I was looking the best I have ever been.
