His throat burned. It was as if his lungs were on fire!

Whatever nonsense Sophia was spouting, Killian hadn’t been listening to it, suffering through the torment of swallowing the food down his throat.

He sprang up, hurried to the water dispenser, and gulped down several cups of water at once.

His throat was still aching, and the bitter taste of pepper lingered in his mouth.

“What’s wrong, Honey?” Sophia hurried up to him, her eyes filled with worry. “Don’t you like the food? A-Are you sick? Should we go to the hospital?”

“Have you tasted it?”

“Huh? No. I wanted you to be the first one to taste it. How does it taste? From the looks of it, you don’t like it. Does it taste so bad?”

Killian had never cooked before, but he was very sure that whatever he cooked for the first time wouldn’t taste as horrible as this one.

He suppressed his anger, hiding his disappointment, before she did something as crazy as crying because he refused to compliment her cooking.

Oh, no…Kiara managed to hold the girl back, gently discouraging her. She didn’t know what Greg’s reaction would be, but she had a bad feeling about it. In the end, she managed to coax the poor girl and take her away without letting him see her. However, Kiara was greatly heartbroken. Greg was the last person she ever expected to treat a child like this. His parents were elated to have the girl live with them. Kiara left Ara smiling and already warming up to the maids. She returned to the empty, soundless Villa. When she went to the dining room, she found his lunch still there. Greg hadn’t come down to eat. Knowing he might be hungry because he’d eaten nothing else apart from breakfast, Kiara warmed up the food and took it upstairs. She found him sitting inside his study, engrossed in making a phone call. “Funny right? She thinks acting innocent and oblivious can fool me!”“Greg…” Kiara called out softly. Who was he speaking with?Greg turned around, his eyes traveling from h

  • Best Revenge: Don't Beg for Mercy, Ex-husband   170. Good At Winning A Woman’s Heart

Greg stood in the hallway, one hand braced against the wall, his head lowered. The house was too quiet now, too heavy with silence and every unspoken word hanging in the air.Kiara approached him slowly, her steps soft, almost hesitant. She didn’t want to startle or make him feel cornered. He must have been avoiding this for her… for them. “Greg…” she murmured gently, stopping a few distance behind him. She folded her hands in front of her, took a breath, and spoke in the softest voice she’d used all day. “I understand why you’ve been distant. I now understand that you were scared. But you’re not at fault. Nobody’s at fault. Not Aubrey or the little girl… your daughter.”Greg stiffened but didn’t turn.“Greg…” She reached out to touch him, but he suddenly backed away… and his eyes. His were were red. Was it from getting emotional or something else? Did he not expect her to understand or accept the baby?“Greg-”“I thought we’ve been over this!” He said under his breath. “I thought

  • Best Revenge: Don't Beg for Mercy, Ex-husband   169. Stay With Them

“What is going on?” Stella rose to her feet and handed the little girl over to Maya. She stomped forward with both hands on her waist. “How dare you hide this important news from us, Son?”“What important news?”“That you and Aubrey had a daughter!” His father also stood up. “Were you planning to keep it from us forever? Did you ever consider our wishes for grandchildren?”“To think that you hid this cute and adorable little angel from us.” Maya shot him a glare. “That’s unfair, Bro!”“Guys, please calm down…” Aubrey stood up, still looking uncomfortable. “It is not as you think. Greg didn’t– Actually, he only just found out–”“Why don’t you save the hypocrisy for later when you demand more money?” Greg interrupted her. “Way to go, Aubrey. I thought you are a person of your words.”Then he left for the stairs. Kiara didn’t know whether to follow him or remain in the living room. She didn’t know what to do right now. Aubrey’s daughter was Greg’s child? How come she wasn’t so surprise

  • Best Revenge: Don't Beg for Mercy, Ex-husband   168. Something Bothering Him

“Nothing happened.” Shaking her head, Kiara sat inside the car. Greg joined her. “Nothing? I wasn’t planning to leave yet. We were having a good time, you know.”“Oh really?” Kiara raised a brow at him. What were they actually having a good time with? It wasn’t what she was thinking, was it?Definitely, it shouldn’t be. Greg wasn’t that kind of person. “Yeah.” He shrugged and started the car. “After getting my happiness stripped from me last night… and this morning too.” he gave her an accusatory look, making her wonder what she had done wrong. “I finally found something to cheer me up.” Greg continued. “But you insist we leave early without a clear reason. That’s childish.”“Come on, Greg…” she sighed. Kiara didn’t even know what to say. “By the way, I wanted to tell you something.”“I’m all ears,” he said, despite keeping his focus on the road.“I want you to stay away from Aaron and his circle of friends,” Kiara murmured. “He’s a bad influence. Aaron Anderson isn’t a good man.

  • Best Revenge: Don't Beg for Mercy, Ex-husband   167. Killing Two Birds…

The other ladies who were obviously eavesdropping, caught Cora’s words and they chipped in their comments. “Well, I hope that he divorces her soon. That bitch is a monster for killing her own baby!”“Have you heard? Rumor has it that she lied about the baby’s gender. Turned out it was a girl and not a boy.”“Oh my goodness! Really?”“I heard it from my Mom who’s good friends with Killian Reid’s mother. It’s true that Sophia lied about the baby’s gender. As you all know, the old master Reid prefers male heirs.”“That’s right. So to look for an opportunity to discard the baby without looking like the evil person she was, she framed Kiara for it. It’s like killing two birds with one stone.”“She’s very cunning indeed. Killian Reid made a mistake from the start. Everyone thinks that this is all punishment for his infidelity.”Cora sighed. “Keep it down, Girls. Don’t wake my babies up. Killian isn’t a bad person. I bet he was manipulated by that bitch!”“Right.” One of the ladies giggled.

“Mommy, I just wanna say goodbye to my friends.” The little girl pouted, her lips trembling. “I don’t wanna leave yet.”“Come here, baby.” Aubrey hugged her. “Mommy has no choice. We would have stayed but your Daddy wants us to leave, so what choice do we have?”“Kiara, I’m sorry about this.” She let out a half-hearted laugh. “Ara can be a handful sometimes. I also want to thank you for being kind to the kids. We’re leaving soon. This might be our final goodbye.”Kiara stood up, unable to hide her sadness. She was heartbroken for the little girl, and couldn’t deny that she was going to miss her.“Take care. Goodbye, Baby.” She patted the girl’s hair before joining Greg inside the car. As they drove away, she could hear her little voice, filled with sadness. “Mommy, I wanna go with her.”Greg rolled up the car’s windows despite the fresh morning air breezing in. He appeared moody again.Kiara didn’t break the silence. She didn’t know whether speaking might upset him further, althou
