Power Bond - Odessa POV

Rain, thunder, and lightning all around me. The wind is whistling through the trees. My heart is wound tight in my chest as I rush to get to the top of a hill that looks down over a battle field.

“Arius…”

My large black wolf steps up to my side, he’s larger than any normal wolves, but he is no werewolf. Tilting his head back, he releases a loud, ghostly howl. My cloak billows around me as I hear the fighting pause below us.

Now, it’s my turn and I know I am not too late. I lift a flute and begin to play it. Though, oddly, no sound comes out. As I play though, the rogues begin to act oddly. They whine and whimper, surprising the king and his men as they watch.

I haven’t lifted a single finger other than to hold the flute to my lips. Suddenly, all rogues in the area turn and begin running toward me, seeking to destroy what’s causing the noise.

Arius growls lowly and bares his teeth, his fur stands on end. While the soldiers and king watch, his fur begins to spark, like little streaks of blue lightning streaking across his fur.

Right as they begin to run up the hill, he takes off with a flash. He zips from one rogue to the next, clawing or biting throats out. His movements are so fast, the king can barely keep up.

The king and his men only hesitate so long before they rush in from behind the rogues, pinning them against the hill.

Between my flute, Arius, and the warriors, we make quick work of the rogues. Two are captured alive and the rest have been taken out.

I lower my flute, Arius comes back to my side and we turn to leave. Before I make it more than ten steps, a deep, rumbling voice speaks from behind me.

“Wait. Who are you? Are you an enemy?”

I pause and consider things before turning a little. I’ve not actually spoken a word to anyone in such a long time. In this case, I can smell and sense this person to be of utmost importance to me. Being close, even with the storm around us, is intoxicating. He smells of storms and apple blossoms to me. Regardless, I know I can’t allow myself to relax. However, I do decide to answer.

Lucky for me, he can’t smell me as I’ve taken precautions to cover my scent.

“My name is Odessa Donovan, soul survivor of the Evergrove Pack.”

*Levantus POV*

To stand before a cloaked figure and a giant wolf is disconcerting enough. To learn that the warrior who has been taking on rogues is a woman is another. Add that I cannot smell anything about her.

By now Jasper has joined my side and he asks the next question.

“How by the Goddess did you do that?”

The cloaked woman tilts her head to the side a little bit.

“A lot of training.”

I frown at her short answers, something about her is putting my lycan on edge, but not in a way that speaks threat.

“You didn’t answer me, are you a threat?”

Odessa sighs and rests a hand on the top of her wolf’s head. He hasn’t shown an ounce of aggression toward any of us. When she speaks, it always has a tone of sadness to it.

“Perhaps we should get out of the rain and then I will be more than happy to answer any of your questions the best that I can.”

I narrow my eyes at her.

“Would you be willing to travel back to the palace with us for a discussion?”

For a long while, Odessa seems to be quietly considering my request. Meanwhile Jasper mind links me.

~ Sire, are you sure about this?~

~Yes. I want to have the chance to understand her and her abilities along with her wolf. I can’t smell her… can you? ~

~ No sir, I can’t. ~

She finally speaks up after a moment.

“Yes, I will come back with you to the palace as long as Arius is welcome there as well.”

“Done.”

Having her agreement settles and excites something in me, but I don’t know why. Even my lycan is pacing in my mind, something about her seems important. Maybe it’s just the power she seems to possess. Either way, she’s coming along and we can try to learn more about her.

Getting back to the men, I motion for Odessa to join me on my horse after I’ve mounted. I reach an arm down, she seems to hesitate before grabbing hold of my arm by my elbow. I hoist her up and she easily swings behind me onto my horse. Arius steps up beside my horse, ready to run with us.

The fallen members of my pack are lifted onto the backs of their horses to be brought home to their families and honored for their bravery. Some of the men stay to burn the bodies of the rogues, they’ll follow soon after that’s finished.

As the storm finally begins to die down, we make our way home.

************************************

We ride for the rest of the night, all of us too restless to settle after the events that unfolded. We are too close to home to find a need to stop.

By early morning, we ride through the city gates, heading toward my castle at the city center. The hooves of our horses awaken some of the people of my pack, causing them to peek out their windows and doors to see what the commotion is about.

Before long, we reach the courtyard of the palace and begin to dismount. After a quick debriefing, I release the men to go home to get some rest.

Turning, I focus on the woman at my side and find myself floored. Her hood has fallen back to reveal raven hair, the light of dawn causes rainbows to shimmer in the long strands. Her beauty takes my breath away, but that isn’t what truly floors me. Her eyes, her eyes are a dull shadow violet. She’s blind.

This revelation causes me to stand in shocked silence for a beat too long. Jasper ends up stepping up to us and places his hand on my shoulder as he speaks.

“Come with me, my lady, I will show you to a room where you can bathe and rest. We will have food brought to you. Later today, we can meet reconvene.”

Odessa’s head turns in Jasper’s direction, she simply nods her head before holding her hand out. Jasper takes it gently and tucks it into her arm before guiding her away.

I couldn’t even say one word in that moment.

“G-Goddess! Levantus!”I gasp his name a moment before he rips open the corset top of my dress. My breasts now beared to him. He growls again as he pulls away to look. “Odessa…”He breathes my name like a prayer as he hovers over me now on the couch. I can feel his heart hammering beneath my palm. He trembles and lifts only slightly. “I… apologies… I do want this, but I don’t mean to rush… tell me to leave and I’ll go.” I tremble beneath him, listening to his words. He’s trying to hold back, though we have already gotten here. He wouldn’t dare go further without permission. I hesitate only a moment before I pull him down to me. “I accept you, Levantus… I accept what we can share.” The second I’m done speaking he’s on me. I gasp and groan as he kisses me fiercely. His nails rake down my thighs, lifting them so they’re surrounding his hips. Then one hand lifts so he can start groping my breast and play with my nipple. I moan and my back arches beneath him, feeling his hardness gr

  • Blind and Bound   Finally Alone - Odessa POV

After Crysta and the others leave, I realize that it is just Levantus and I. I’m still smiling a little bit because of the encounter. “Levi? Really?” I ask him and he growls, but it isn’t violent. I can sense his humor despite his frustration. “She’s obnoxious and didn’t last long. I apologize that you had to come face to face with that. Forget her, how was your day?”I keep smiling as he steps toward me and takes my hand. We can both feel sparks singing along our hands and up our arms. “Arius got to play with pups, it made his heart sing. He has not been allowed to experience that kind of carefree moment in a long time. It took him back to his happier den days. It was the best to hear his heart singing like that.” I admit to him and he squeezes my hand as we start walking. I’m hyper aware of how much Arius needed that kind of contact. Both of us have been without a pack for so long now. Levantus interrupts my thoughts. “I’m glad. You both deserve moments to heal your hearts and

  • Blind and Bound   City People - Odessa POV

I walk through the city, Dirk on my right and Arius on my left. Levantus is busy with the council and he has yet to bring me before then. He says he isn’t ready to let them poke and prod at me. For now, I’ll give him another day. Dirk speaks up from beside me with amusement. “How nice is it to be just walking around with no real purpose?”I roll my eyes and smile as I tilt my head in his direction. My mind is racing with things I need to do, but this reprieve has been good. “It feels like I’m wasting minutes and hours instead of doing something useful. Then again, it’s nice to be able to breathe for a minute and feel like I might fit in.”I admit to him while we walk. Arius bumps my side and makes me laugh a little bit. Dirk chuckles as well. “My lady, if you don’t mind my saying so, you probably could fit in anywhere. You’ve just let yourself believe that you weren’t allowed. I know this because I’ve met men who lived like you did. Horrible things happened to you, but it doesn’t

  • Blind and Bound   Radcliffe

The silver chains around my wrist, neck, and ankles prevent me from being able to feel my wolf or shift. I am weak from lack of food and my beating. Despite this, I am unbroken and I growl low, though weak. How did he know? How did he realize? It was no fault of my own, I’m sure of it. It’s her… it has to be that blind bitch. Somehow she was able to let the king know. Somehow she knew. She’s going to pay for what she did, I’ll find a way. My thoughts are interrupted by torchlight as a figure emerges from down the corridor and stops at my cell. A slow smile spreads across my face. “What took you so long? We have too much to lose, you have to get me out of here.”The clocked figure watches me before responding. “You are a fool to have gotten caught in the first place. Why should I release you?”The cloaked being asks me and makes me growl. “Because I have enough power to get what we need to end this abomination of a king. I am needed.”The cloaked figure laughs and it causes a col

  • Blind and Bound   Comforting a Beast - Odessa POV

I’m walking with Arius and Dirk, finding that I like the warmth of the sun and the smells of the gardens. Dirk had escorted me around the castle, talking about the different areas, and allowing my senses to learn of the space I’m in. For a while now, we have been walking in companionable silence. I’m not in the mood to talk, just to listen and let my senses observe my surroundings. Suddenly, Dirk tenses, Arius growls low and I can sense a shift in the air. Something or someone nearby is staring at us and growling. I’ve tensed and my nerves are screaming, but there’s something else. My lips part as I realize there’s a blazing, golden energy humming from something huge before me. I can sense his rage and his struggle. “Levantus…” I say softly and touch the top of Arius’ head. My eyes stare toward the glow. There’s a flicker when it hears my voice and a need. “Dirk, you and Arius leave us. I can handle this, but we need some privacy, it’ll be ok.” I stand completely still, sensin

  • Blind and Bound   The Council - Levantus POV

I sit in the council chamber with my chin resting on my fist. They argue amongst themselves over politics, things that are constantly trying to change, but old men and women can be stuck in their ways and old traditions. I should be listening to them, but my mind keeps getting drawn back to her. My mate. Everything about her calls to me, even my lycan howls in my mind to go to her. Yet, for now, I have to focus and remind myself I’ll be back with her soon. Despite this reminder, I can’t help furrowing my brow as I consider how she isn’t all in for our mate bond. Parts of her resist it, I assume because of her pain and past more than fear of me. So, I’ll earn her trust and help her past her fear. I tune in as the old ones begin talking about the impending dangers. They discuss having hear of the strange woman and her wolf. Radcliffe speaks directly to me and I growl low. “I hear this woman has taken the attention of our great king. How are we to be certain she is not an enemy in d
