CHAPTER 77

***Bethany’s POV***

When I asked Jacob to make love to me, he just laughed before he ventured outside. The next thing I heard was the sound of his vehicle leaving the property. I took a deep breath while trying to compose myself because I was greatly embarrassed earlier. I forgot about my pride when I asked him to do that to me. Initially, I thought it would clear my mind, or it would reassure me that he didn’t have another woman. He failed to give me an assurance!

Suddenly, I heard a loud thud outside, so I ran outside to check what was going on. The sound came from the doorway and I furrowed my brows while strolling toward the door. It couldn’t be Jacob because I didn’t hear his car coming back. Who was it? Should I ask the person outside the door? What if it was a bad man and he would do something evil to me?

“It’s me, Bethany,” he said when he probably heard the sound of my breathing or the way I gasped earlier.
