Chap-5*I Won't Play This Game*

“Shit!” I cursed, watching the text conversation time and again and letting out sighs of disbelief.

“What have you been doing in your life?” I muttered under my breath, bewildered by the choices my sister had made in her life.

Now it made sense. She wanted me to help clear out this mess for her.

“I need to go and speak to my sister. She needs to tell me why she relied on drugs and what kind of information she has left with her drug dealer for him to blackmail her?” I was muttering under my breath and heading towards the bathroom while unaware of the judgmental stares thrown my way.

It wasn’t until I heard a comment that I shook myself awake to my surroundings.

“Did you hear what she did on her sister’s wedding day?”

The wrinkle between my eyebrows suggested it intrigued me to hear what they knew.

“She tried to ruin the day for her by yelling something like, oh I should be there, I’m the bride,”

The other girl mimicked me back from the wedding day.

I precisely remember yelling I’m the real Serena, but whatever!

I zipped around to the bathroom and found Serena there. I knew she was there because I had seen her get in there like 5 minutes ago.

She was just aimlessly standing in her spot and using the phone over all these minutes. The instant she saw me, she smirked and raised her face from my goddam phone.

“You two are really cheesy.” she let out a crackle, flashing my own cellphone’s screen to me. Her lip was slightly curled upwards and forming a smirk.

“I would have really given you what you deserve right now, which is a punch in the face, but we got a bigger problem than you snooping around my phone,” I grunted, rolling my eyes aggressively at her.

“A problem? What problem?” she had her body resting against the wall without a display of anxiousness.

“Your drug dealer is blackmailing you.” the fact that I still had to speak to her after she stole my body and life was just a sign of how desperate I was to sort things out for her and get my life back from her.

I fixated on her face and watched her frown just a little.

“Is that why you swapped bodies with me because you couldn’t deal with the mess you have left behind with that drug dealer to blackmail you over with?” I was on the verge of yelling at her and her looking all calm was making the resistance difficult.

“Whoa! I never knew he would be this evil,” the response from her got me into thinking if this wasn’t why she stole my body, then what made her do it?

“Maybe you should stop him.” There, she expressed a little confusion. Her demand was simple, but why me? Why can’t she do her own damn-self a favor and resolve her problems?

“You are just making me run around over a lost cause, aren’t you? Your mission was to have a life with my mate. I cannot believe I have been stupid enough to fall into your games and believe you will give me my life and body back, eventually.” I stepped back from her once realization struck me.

“If that’s what you think then fine,” although her words came out calm and un-bothered, the wrinkled between her eyebrows and the tensed muscles suggested otherwise.

“Then let me end this right now. I’ll go and tell Daxon everything, the entire truth. He can ask me anything and let’s see if I can answer it or not.” There was no way there wasn’t anything that he can ask me that only Serena would know.

That’s when I found a gulp slip down her throat.

“I am not lying. You will get your body, just mend my life.” this time, her tone was aggressive and more like a plead.

She was back to telling me some damsel in distress stories and seeking help.

“No! That’s enough. I am not going to be a pawn in your game. I will find him and tell him the whole truth even if it means I’ll have to embarrass myself until I’m proven right,” after finally making up my mind to be a part of her games, I turned around and briskly walked towards the exit.

“Listen to m---,” I didn’t let her catch up with me and sprinted out of the bathroom in a hurry.

My goal for the day was to find Daxon and put an end to this misery.

“Excuse me, have you seen Daxon?” I approached the very first person in sight. A Gamma couple who had been watching me ever since I stormed out of the bathroom.

“Such a shameless whore!” the girl’s comment compelled me to turn to her with quizzical eyes. What did I say to her?

“You are still running after your sister’s mate?” the guy joined, raising his voice until everybody in the hallway heard him.

“So you did not see him.” I didn’t bother arguing with them. That was not me. If I didn’t feel good vibes from someone, I’d ignore them.

“Of course, because you---,” the guy really thought he can get me into arguing with him.

“Blah blah blah!” I waved my hand behind my head while walking way past him and silenced him with my response.

I have never acted so grimly before. I believe her body gave me a new perspective, too. Looking for him seemed like I was searching for bird’s milk. He was nowhere on the school’s property.

It was so hard being her and walking around. Everybody would look at me like I’m going to steal their mates. Just when I was this close to giving up searching for him, I found him.

The basketball court.

Dammit!

“How did I not consider coming here earlier?” I questioned myself for not remembering his practices with his friends around these hours?

Must be the stress or else I would have come here the first thing if I wanted to see him.

I stood in the courtside until he noticed me. His friends and he paused when they found me watching them. Just the way they all stared at me made me uneasy.

I don’t blame them for hating Arlene. She had been a living nightmare for everyone.

“What is it, you weirdo?” it was Daxon, raising his voice at me. I’ve not seen him misbehave with me when I was in my body. So it was going to take a little while to adjust to his behavior and look past it to speak to him.

“I need to talk to you. It’s kind of urgent,” I yelled back awkwardly.

Oh Goodness! I hate this life.

“You want to talk to me?” He tossed the ball aside and jogged over, skipping steps when climbing towards me.

“You got some nerve coming here to speak to me after you almost interrupted and ruined my wedding day,” the way he stood tall in the blue jersey he was wearing made me lower my face and shake the thoughts off from my mind, the thoughts where he would hug me after practices and kiss my cheek.

He had his hair wet from all the sweat and exertion. His breathing was also loud, which kind of made him look scarier.

“Seren--,” I haven’t even pronounced her name when a kid from the school obtruded us.

“Serena has fallen off the stairs,”

The call for attention worked. Not only Daxon, but I rushed to hear the news. My body fell off the stairs. What has she done?
