Chapter 12

MIA

I cover my mouth with my sweater sleeve and wrap my arm around myself. We’ve driven for hours. We had to stay in hotel last night. I did get my own room, but I couldn’t go out because there were guards outside.

I wandered around the room and looked out the window. We are very high up. The lights were pretty.

I curled up in bed and couldn’t help, but cry. I cuddle a pillow and thought of Grey. At first, I couldn’t feel him or hear him. My thoughts were black. My Grey was missing. This made me cry harder. I wish upon wishes that he’d come back then I heard something. Faintly in the black of my mind.

Grey was singing badly. It made me giggle with my tears wetting my cheeks. I liked this song. I sat and softly cried while I listened to my Grey so far away.

He was making funny sounds to the music and I had to hold back my laugh. I was sad when my mind went black again and my Grey disappeared. I called him back in my mind, but it feels like there’s something in the way. Is he trapped? I
