Valtor’s POV

The grand hall of the Silver Crest Pack buzzed with laughter and clinking glasses. Gold chandeliers bathed the space in warm light, casting a glow over the many people dressed in their finest. The scent of roasted meats and aged wine filled the air, but I barely paid attention.

I never liked parties.

But here I was, swirling a glass of deep red wine between my fingers, watching the crowd as they moved in well-practiced circles of conversation.

My stepmother had insisted I attend this gathering, convinced by a seer’s cryptic words that my happiness awaited me here.

I didn’t believe in such nonsense but Yet, here I was.

"Alpha Valtor," a young Lady greeted with a respectful nod. "It’s an honor to meet you."

I returned a polite nod, barely hearing her name.

“It is truly an honor to meet you, I have heard many stories about you, but I must say the cameras and photos don't do your beauty any justice.”

This was the twentieth girl trying to flirt with me. What was wrong with these girls?

I forced a smile, gulping down the last drop of wine in my glass. She quickly flagged down a servant to bring a new glass of wine.

I raised an eyebrow, staring at her. She turned to me with a smile, handing the new glass of wine to me.

“You're welcome,” she chuckled, covering her mouth, her cheeks red with blush.

Two depressing minutes later, the Lady was still by my side talking about how great I was— she was literally lecturing me about my own biography.

Seeing that I wasn't interested in her conversation, she excused herself.

The formalities went on, one after another, as guests came to pay their respects. It was a political game, one I had played countless times before.

Through the endless pleasantries, my Beta, Daniel, approached me. "Do you want to leave?" he asked in a low voice.

I exhaled, setting my wine down. "Yes. Call Alpha Aaron. It would be rude to leave without informing our host."

Daniel nodded and turned to walk away. "Also," I added, "get the alliance documents. You can return home once that’s done."

With that, I turned toward the exit. The moment my foot touched the marble floor,I heard a voice behind me.

A voice I had not heard in five years.

My heart slammed against my ribs. I stopped dead in my tracks.

No. It couldn’t be.

I turned sharply, my breath caught in my throat.

Rachel?

It had to be my mind playing tricks on me. She had died. Five years ago.

But something in my chest twisted—an instinct, an ache buried so deep I had almost forgotten how it felt.

Shaking off the thought, I strode toward my waiting car. Daniel would handle the rest. I was done with this ridiculous party.

Then my wolf stirred.

A powerful wave of unease crashed over me.

Go back.

I clenched my jaw. My wolf was rarely wrong, and right now, he was restless. His warning settled deep into my bones.

I turned back.

The moment I turned back, I  raised my head just in time to see a figure falling from the tenth-floor balcony.

Without thinking, I lunged forward, catching the body before it could meet the ground. The impact was surprisingly light in my arms, as if the person weighed nothing.

Then I saw her.

And my world tilted.

Rachel.

Or someone who looked exactly like her.

She lay cradled in my arms, unconscious, her dark lashes fluttering against pale cheeks. Her scent—so familiar it was painful—wrapped around me, stirring memories I had buried.

It felt like the world went still as I kept staring at her, my heart pounding loudly in my chest.

Nothing else mattered.

Daniel appeared beside me, his face a mixture of shock and horror. He looked between Rachel and me, his jaws dropping.

“Is that?” Daniel was interrupted my the hurried feet approaching us.

Alpha Aaron rushed toward me. His expression was filled with fear.

“She’s just a maid,” Aaron said hastily, reaching for her. “The sentinels will take her to her quarters.”

A maid?

I narrowed my eyes at him, sensing his lie. I raised my head up just in time to see two sentinels on the balcony, they quickly moved away as soon as our eyes met.

She was thrown from the balcony.

I stared at her body, she had bruises all over, even with the bruises—her skin still looked just like Rachel's—the scent, the color everything was just the same.

“Who is this woman?” I asked again, my eyes still on her.

“She is just a maid,” Alpha Aaron said again. “She has been working for my wife for over ten years now, poor woman went through a lot in her family.”

“Ten years?” I muttered.

Alpha Aaron stretched his hands as if to take her from me. “She will be taken to her room to rest,” he reassured me.

But before I could react, two guards stepped forward and carefully took her from my arms.

Her head lolled to the side, her lips parting slightly. She muttered something, barely a whisper.

I couldn’t catch it.

Aaron gave me a faint smile. "Apologies for the scene, Alpha Valtor. If you’ll excuse me—"

I barely heard him, his words fading away, my eyes still on Rachel till the sentinels disappeared into the building.

As he bid me farewell, I walked toward my car, but my mind was elsewhere. The woman I had seen…

Rachel.

It wasn’t possible.

Yet, my wolf knew the truth before I did.

Mine.

"Rachel died five years ago," Daniel said, as if trying to remind me of reality. "This woman must be a lookalike."

But I wasn’t convinced.

My wolf was restless, his instincts clawing at me.

I turned to Daniel, my voice low and firm.

"Find out everything about her. And make sure no one else does."

As I drove away, one thought echoed in my mind.

If Rachel was alive…Then I would uncover the truth.

No matter what it took.

Rachel’s POVThe warm steam from the shower still clung to my skin as I stepped out, wrapping myself in a robe. The water had helped calm me, but my mind was still spinning.I sat on the edge of my bed and stared at the mirror across the room, my mind drifting back to what happened today, my hand slowly finding its way to my neck. I swallowed hard, remembering the way its red eyes stared at me, its hand wrapped tightly around my neck…but even with that, the creature felt familiar. The message on the paper boldly written at the back of my head. "He watches me, even in the dark…He says I belong to him."What was happening to me? Was it a memory? Could I see Rachel’s past by touching her things? Or was she trying to speak to me from the afterlife Suddenly, someone knocked on my door, I jerked up from the bed in fear, turning to the door, my breath heavy. “Miss, dinner is ready,” Sharon said walking in. “Are you okay?” She asked, her brows furrowed in curiosity.I let out a sigh of r

  • I'm more than a surrogate Luna    The haunting truth.

Rachel’s POVAfter dropping Ashley off at school, I watched her run inside, her small backpack bouncing as she waved at me one last time. I waved back, forcing a smile. As soon as she disappeared into the building, I let out a deep sigh.I was finally free to drop the act. It wasn't like I didn't want to be a mother to her, but everything she does reminds me that my son is still without his mother. I climbed into the car, shaking my head as mind drifted back to Selena's words about Cynthia. Rachel led a complicated life and had many enemies. Looks like Allen isn't the only one that wanted Rachel dead, I won't be surprised if they were more. I stared out of the window as the car started moving. It didn't take long before the mansion came into view. I inhaled deeply, folding my hands under my breasts. This was definitely more than I bargained for but it is the only way to get my son back. By the time we pulled up to the entrance, my body already felt tired, even though the day had

  • I'm more than a surrogate Luna    The council's ultimatum

Valtor POVI entered the palace’s grand hall, my boots hitting echoing through the walls, the Elders sat around the long wooden table, their eyes following me. Some of them looked nervous, others curious, but none of them said anything. Slowly, I took my seat at the head of the table and leaned back in my chair, my fingers tapping the wooden armrest, waiting.I nodded at Daniel who took his seat. “The meeting has officially started, please lay your complaint or concern in a respectful manner.”They exchanged glances with each other, none of them was ready to begin…more like none of them wanted to lose their head. Finally, Elder Gregor cleared his throat. “Alpha Valtor, we need to talk about Rachel.” he said, carefully. I placed my elbow on the armrest, placing a finger on the side of my head. “What's there to talk about her again?” I frowned. “I already submitted all the proof you wanted to show that Rachel is indeed the real Rachel, what else does the council need?”“You have to

  • I'm more than a surrogate Luna    Whispers of love.

Rachel's pov. I grabbed my purse before Ashley could drag me, her face filled with excitement as she held my hands, running towards the car. She looked just like Rachel, a beautiful sweet girl that unfortunately has a dick as a father. “Come, we are going to be late,” she rushed me. I forced a smile, trying to keep up with her pace. I wonder what Valtor was thinking when he agreed to this sick proposal, he was the one that insisted I don't suck up to his daughter and I totally agree to it. What changed this time?“Daddy,” she called, pointing in the direction ahead of us. My whole body froze as I saw Valtor walk past, his cold eyes flickered towards us but he didn't stop. Daniel ran behind him. I swallowed hard, placing my hand on my chest, my cheeks turned red remembering what happened a few days back. “Ah,” I muttered, my face etched with disdain as I touched my lips. That dick actually kissed me and completely got away with it. Who does that? Oh, I almost forgot he was a d

  • I'm more than a surrogate Luna    Games of love

Valtor’s POV. I stood before the mirror, fastening the last button on my shirt, studying my own reflection. The dark fabric clung to my frame, emphasizing the sharp angles of my face. The door suddenly creaked open and my step mother, Andy walked in, a small smile playing on her lips.My brows furrowed in curiosity wondering what she was doing here. No one was allowed to come into my room except Daniel, Ashely wasn't even an exemption and she was my daughter. “Valtor,” she called, slowly walking in and shut the door behind her. “Can you spare a minute?* I scoffed, turning back to the mirror, adjusting my cufflinks. “What do you want?”I saw the relief on her face through the mirror, she walked closer to me, staring at me through the mirror. “I want to talk to you about Rachel,” she revealed. “What about Rachel?”“She is finally back to us after five years, but I feel she is quite distant, Ashely needs her mother.”“I thought I was clear,” I paused, turning to her. “We shouldn't

  • I'm more than a surrogate Luna    Becoming Rachel.

Rachel’s POVA soft knock on the door woke me from my sleep, I stretched, feeling the comfort of the bed under me, my brows furrowed. It was already morning, marking it my second day in this house, I rolled my eyes, raising the blanket over my head. Maybe if they don't hear anything, they would leave me the fuck alone. The door creaked open and some people walked in, I clenched my fists, turning to them. The maids bowed to me, walking closer, their fingers locked and placed on their stomach, the lady in the front was a tall brunette carrying a tray with tea and honeyed bread. I sat up, rubbing my eyes. “Good morning,” I mumbled. The blonde swallowed hard, her face went pale, and her eyes grew wide, like she had seen a ghost.I sighed. “Not again,” I muttered. I knew what this was about. “I promise I’m real,” I said, trying to lighten the mood. “You don’t have to be scared.”The brunette gave the blonde a quick warning look, and the blonde seemed to snap out of her trance.
