Valtor’s POV

The grand hall of the Silver Crest Pack buzzed with laughter and clinking glasses. Gold chandeliers bathed the space in warm light, casting a glow over the many people dressed in their finest. The scent of roasted meats and aged wine filled the air, but I barely paid attention.

I never liked parties.

But here I was, swirling a glass of deep red wine between my fingers, watching the crowd as they moved in well-practiced circles of conversation.

My stepmother had insisted I attend this gathering, convinced by a seer’s cryptic words that my happiness awaited me here.

I didn’t believe in such nonsense but Yet, here I was.

"Alpha Valtor," a young Lady greeted with a respectful nod. "It’s an honor to meet you."

I returned a polite nod, barely hearing her name.

“It is truly an honor to meet you, I have heard many stories about you, but I must say the cameras and photos don't do your beauty any justice.”

This was the twentieth girl trying to flirt with me. What was wrong with these girls?

I forced a smile, gulping down the last drop of wine in my glass. She quickly flagged down a servant to bring a new glass of wine.

I raised an eyebrow, staring at her. She turned to me with a smile, handing the new glass of wine to me.

“You're welcome,” she chuckled, covering her mouth, her cheeks red with blush.

Two depressing minutes later, the Lady was still by my side talking about how great I was— she was literally lecturing me about my own biography.

Seeing that I wasn't interested in her conversation, she excused herself.

The formalities went on, one after another, as guests came to pay their respects. It was a political game, one I had played countless times before.

Through the endless pleasantries, my Beta, Daniel, approached me. "Do you want to leave?" he asked in a low voice.

I exhaled, setting my wine down. "Yes. Call Alpha Aaron. It would be rude to leave without informing our host."

Daniel nodded and turned to walk away. "Also," I added, "get the alliance documents. You can return home once that’s done."

With that, I turned toward the exit. The moment my foot touched the marble floor,I heard a voice behind me.

A voice I had not heard in five years.

My heart slammed against my ribs. I stopped dead in my tracks.

No. It couldn’t be.

I turned sharply, my breath caught in my throat.

Rachel?

It had to be my mind playing tricks on me. She had died. Five years ago.

But something in my chest twisted—an instinct, an ache buried so deep I had almost forgotten how it felt.

Shaking off the thought, I strode toward my waiting car. Daniel would handle the rest. I was done with this ridiculous party.

Then my wolf stirred.

A powerful wave of unease crashed over me.

Go back.

I clenched my jaw. My wolf was rarely wrong, and right now, he was restless. His warning settled deep into my bones.

I turned back.

The moment I turned back, I  raised my head just in time to see a figure falling from the tenth-floor balcony.

Without thinking, I lunged forward, catching the body before it could meet the ground. The impact was surprisingly light in my arms, as if the person weighed nothing.

Then I saw her.

And my world tilted.

Rachel.

Or someone who looked exactly like her.

She lay cradled in my arms, unconscious, her dark lashes fluttering against pale cheeks. Her scent—so familiar it was painful—wrapped around me, stirring memories I had buried.

It felt like the world went still as I kept staring at her, my heart pounding loudly in my chest.

Nothing else mattered.

Daniel appeared beside me, his face a mixture of shock and horror. He looked between Rachel and me, his jaws dropping.

“Is that?” Daniel was interrupted my the hurried feet approaching us.

Alpha Aaron rushed toward me. His expression was filled with fear.

“She’s just a maid,” Aaron said hastily, reaching for her. “The sentinels will take her to her quarters.”

A maid?

I narrowed my eyes at him, sensing his lie. I raised my head up just in time to see two sentinels on the balcony, they quickly moved away as soon as our eyes met.

She was thrown from the balcony.

I stared at her body, she had bruises all over, even with the bruises—her skin still looked just like Rachel's—the scent, the color everything was just the same.

“Who is this woman?” I asked again, my eyes still on her.

“She is just a maid,” Alpha Aaron said again. “She has been working for my wife for over ten years now, poor woman went through a lot in her family.”

“Ten years?” I muttered.

Alpha Aaron stretched his hands as if to take her from me. “She will be taken to her room to rest,” he reassured me.

But before I could react, two guards stepped forward and carefully took her from my arms.

Her head lolled to the side, her lips parting slightly. She muttered something, barely a whisper.

I couldn’t catch it.

Aaron gave me a faint smile. "Apologies for the scene, Alpha Valtor. If you’ll excuse me—"

I barely heard him, his words fading away, my eyes still on Rachel till the sentinels disappeared into the building.

As he bid me farewell, I walked toward my car, but my mind was elsewhere. The woman I had seen…

Rachel.

It wasn’t possible.

Yet, my wolf knew the truth before I did.

Mine.

"Rachel died five years ago," Daniel said, as if trying to remind me of reality. "This woman must be a lookalike."

But I wasn’t convinced.

My wolf was restless, his instincts clawing at me.

I turned to Daniel, my voice low and firm.

"Find out everything about her. And make sure no one else does."

As I drove away, one thought echoed in my mind.

If Rachel was alive…Then I would uncover the truth.

No matter what it took.

Author’s POVJoana sat at the far end of the grand hall, her eyes locked onto Rachel. Valtor stood close to her, his arm wrapped around her waist as if shielding her from the world. The sight made Joana’s hands tighten around her wine glass, her nails pressing so hard against the glass that she almost broke it."You’re doing it again," Cynthia’s voice snapped Joana out of her thoughts. She took a seat beside her, lazily swirling her wine. "Staring at Rachel like you want to set her on fire." Cynthia’s eyes roamed around the room. "You should be paying attention to the Alphas here tonight. So many powerful men, and yet you only have eyes for one."Joana ignored her, watching Valtor walk away with Ryan. “What are you even doing here? I thought you don't like attending such parties,” Cynthia asked, taking a sip of her wine. “I don't,” Joana replied coldly, turning to her. “I'm here for Ryan.”Cynthia nodded. “Ryan is indeed a bright boy, when he came to invite me, I was hesitant but a

Rachel’s POVSharon pulled on the laces of my dress as tightly as she could while Ashely fastened a silver necklace around my neck. I looked at myself in the mirror. The black gown hugged my body perfectly. It was sleeveless with a low neckline that made me feel both beautiful and exposed. My hair was in soft waves, and my lips were painted red.Ashley, standing on her tiptoes, clapped her tiny hands. “You look so pretty, mummy, like a princess.”Sharon smiled. “You look like a real Luna.”I forced a smile, trying to hide the tension building in my chest. My mind was still on Allen. It has been two days now and I still couldn’t believe that Allen was the beast, how could he be the beast? The same creature that had chased me through the mansion and nearly killed me in the woods. Something just doesn't add up. It would have made sense because Allen tried to kill Rachel once and that beast also wanted to kill me, so definitely it should make sense that they are the same person but Val

Valtor's POV The morning sunlight seeped through the curtains, casting soft golden streaks across the polished wooden floor. The maids moved around, bowing their heads in respect as I passed by.I inhaled deeply, trying to swallow my anger. As usual, Andy always somehow convinces Ashley to want something and Ashley on the other hand becomes a persistent person after he mind is set on something. I had a routine that I can never break even if someone was dying that was having my morning walks around the mansion but that changed after Ashley came into my life. It's always one excuse or another, and this time, it was about Rachel. I reached Rachel’s door and knocked lightly. “Rachel, wake up.”A few seconds passed before I heard slow, shuffling footsteps. The door creaked open, revealing Rachel in an oversized T-shirt and pajama shorts. Her hair was tangled, and she rubbed her eyes sluggishly.“What is it?” she mumbled, her voice thick with sleep.I inhaled deeply, tucking my hands i

  • I'm more than a surrogate Luna    The beast true face

Rachel’s POVI froze, locking eyes with the beast in my front. My hands went to my mouth before I could scream as I stumbled backward, my body shaking in fear. This wasn’t a dream, like I had hoped, this wasn’t just my mind playing tricks on me, it was real. The beast wasn't just an image in the mirror, it was as real as this earth's existence. "Run."That single word sent shivers down my spine before I even had time to think, my legs moved on their own, and I turned, sprinting toward the door. I struggled with the door knob for a while, when it finally opened I flung the door open without even turning back. The beast growled loudly, a deep, terrifying sound that made the hair on my arms stand up.I rushed out to the hallway, glancing around but there was no sign of anyone. I just had to keep running and hope that I bum into a sentinel. The hallway was dimly lit but I could still manage my way, running as fast as I could. My chest ached from how fast I was breathing."Help!" I

  • I'm more than a surrogate Luna    Awoken

Rachel's POV A dull ache throbbed in my head as I slowly opened my eyes, rubbing my blurry eyes, the ceiling coming into view. This was definitely my room, how long have I been out? Before I could process what was happening, someone shouted. "Rachel, you idiot!" I flinched as Sharon’s voice filled the room, I slowly turned to her direction, she was standing beside the bed, her brows furrowed in concern and frustration. "How could you be so careless?" she demanded, leaning closer. "What were you thinking about losing guard when you were with Joana?" My eyes fell to the bed as I tried to remember what happened. Why the hell did I pass out? “What happened out there?” Sharon asked, her face etched with a mixture of curiosity and concern. I swallowed hard, my hand went to my throat, trying to clear my throat. "I… I don’t know," I admitted weakly. "One moment, she was talking, and the next, everything just went black." Sharon sighed, running a hand through her hair. "That

Valtor's pov. Rachel lay peacefully on the bed, her breath steady, I sat beside her, my hands curled into fists. How could she be so stupid to follow the one person I warned her against? What was she thinking? Why does she keep doing this too? I can't even step out of the house for a second without thinking of a million ways she could get herself in trouble. I rubbed my temples, taking in deep breaths as I stared at her tiny innocent face,I reached forward brushing a strain of hair from her face, my fingers tracing her face if they got to her lips. I didn't realize my lips were already spread as I caressed her lips, feeling the smoothness, trying to resist tasting every inch of her lips. The door creaked open, I gripped the bed sheets tightly, as my chest welled up in anger. I slowly turned to her, smoldering at her with the corner of my eyes. “Valtor,” she called, walking closer.Half of me wanted to rip Joana apart the second she walked into this room. I forced myself to take
