Nathania was too shock to speak when she heard that and when she finally found her voice, she shrieked, “what? Why on earth would you think that dude?”
Xavier stared at her, “like you know, I have been in this school since Tuesday and I have seen and heard a lot. I have seen you flirting with other girls and today, I couldn’t help but overhear your discussion with her in class. You are really ‘keeping’ yourself for marriage, right?” he made emphasis on the keeping. “Of course, I am a guy who loves things being perfect,” she said. “Hmm,” Xavier said, his eyes not leaving her gray ones. “Well, it better be as you say because, Teresa is a very dear cousin of mine. We may not hang out often but that doesn’t mean that if you hurt her, I am going to let you off. I hope your fighting skills are as good as your flirting ones.” “Dude, calm down, okay? It hasn’t gotten to do that yet. I swear to you that I am really faithful to Teri, trust me. What you claim to have seen are nothing but flirts, trust me and it would never be more than that,” she said, knowing fully well that that is all it would ever be, even with Teresa as well. “Even Teri knows that, just like the girls as well.” “Yeah, you are living up to your reputation as the school’s bad boy who flirts with every girl, including the teachers,” he nodded. “Well, I have said my piece, it better be as you said.” “You have my word,” Nathania said.Right before Xavier could walk away, a boy jogged to them and grinned, punching Nathania on the shoulder, “dude, you coming, right?”Nathania frowned, “coming where, Eric?”“My party, it’s tonight, remember?” Eric asked.“Fuck, I really forgot, but don’t worry, I will be there. You have my word.”“Good,” Eric smiled, “I will be looking forward to seeing you. You coming with the girls’, right?” he raised an eyebrow.Nathania laughed, “always.”Eric grinned and right before he left, he glanced at Xavier, slightly shock to see him. “Oh, hey ghost student,” and with that, he jogged off to his next class.“What did he call me?” Xavier asked with a frown and Nathania had to fight to stop snickering when he glared at her.She cleared her throat and shrugged, “you always live your bike in the parking lot in the morning and when school is over, no one sees it or see you in school. If you have been seeing and hearing everything, surely you must have noticed what everyone is calling you.”“Ghost student, really? That’s the best you guys got?”“Hey don’t look at me, I didn’t come up with it.”“Mm,” Xavier said and then stood up from the locker, “I hope my warning has sink in?”“Loud and clear.”“Good,” he said and started walking away.“You coming to the party?”“I don’t party.”Nathaniel was surprised hearing that, “strange.”“And why is that?” he glanced at her.“Teri said you plays guitar.”“So?”“So that means you like music, so obviously you should like parties.”“Liking music and liking parties is not the same and moreover, I clearly heard him say you should bring girls and I am not a girl so don’t try inviting me.”“Well, with your hair is hard not to mistake you as one,” she murmured but he heard her and just glared at her and turned away. Seeing the direction he was leaving, she asked, “hey, aren’t you going to class?”“Nope, I am going to sleep,” he replied and soon disappeared from the hallway. Surprised, Nathania turned to her locker. His cologne was still everywhere and she found herself inhaling deeply as she wondered how he could be such a fine specimen of the male species but yet still vague and mysterious. There was something about him, she just knows it, but in this case, she can’t find out, obviously not dressed as she was. She sighed and put in her locker combination, thinking that he would definitely be very poor with his grades since he does nothing but sleep. When the school was over, she couldn’t avoid Teresa again and they ended up going over to her place where she would get ready for the party and Nathania believed it a better idea. The last thing she would want was driving back home only to drive back into city again. As she wasted around in Teresa’s bedroom, she heard the roaring of a bike engine and got up from the bed to watch from the window. It was a good thing Teresa’s room looked out to the garage. She saw Xavier on the bike, he was dressed in a long black coat and a black guitar was strapped to his back as he put on his helmet. She wondered where he could be going and how he spends his time. The few times she had met him, he had given nothing away except the fact that he loves staying alone and hate someone butting into his business. The bike soon left her view and she sighed and turned to see Teresa coming out of the bathroom in a towel. The girl looked at her sexily and bit her lower lip seductively before reaching to unwrap her towel.Oh God no! Nathania found herself whispering and right as she was thinking of a way to stop her, there was a knock on the door. Nathania sent a grateful prayer to God as Teresa frowned and went to open the door. It was one of the servants and Teresa’s parents were waiting for them to join them for dinner. As she went over to her wardrobe to find a dress to put on, Nathania lay on the bed with a magazine, acting her character so well. “I just saw Xavier riding off, where is he going?”“I have no idea,” Teresa said, “he leaves every evening since he arrived and dad doesn’t seem bothered and truth be told, none of us is. He always comes back unharmed but between the two of us, I think he is up to something shady.”“Shady, how?”“He is mysterious and secretive, I won’t be surprise if he ends up working for a mafia or being one himself. All I know is that I will not like to be involved with whatever he is doing.”“Hmm,” Nathania thought about the guitar he was carrying, “oh maybe he is going for a gig or something, he is an aspiring artist, isn’t he?”“I don’t think so,” Teresa shook her head, “I will bet all my money that he is drug dealing or something bad, trust me.” But the thing is, Nathania found it hard to trust her and could only wait to uncover his secrets herself. The next day, I couldn’t wait to get to school, more like I couldn’t wait to see Adrian, I had made up my mind last night to tell him today that I love him, yes, I love him and I was going to do so today, immediately I saw him. But what I wasn’t prepared for was what I saw in school, Adrian didn’t come to school. It hurts having your enthusiasm killed like that but I finally consoled myself to tell him tomorrow but he didn’t show up in school too and I didn’t see him for five days straight, including the weekend. That has never happened before and I was getting pretty worried, on Tuesday, I couldn’t take it anymore so on my way home, I dialed his number, wishing for him to answer. He did and my heart heaved a deep sigh of relief, “someone decided to call me,” his cool voice sipped into my ear and I let it travel through my whole being, I have missed him, a lot.“I just want to find out if you are dead or alive.”He chuckled, “have you missed me?”“No,” I rushed to say but then sighed,
“Penny for your thought?” I asked Adrian, he just smiled and shook his head softly. I wanted so badly for him to tell me not to mind what Stacy said, not to listen to her and that he would never do such a thing to me but he didn’t, he didn’t even bring it up. I had to calm my racing heart internally, maybe he felt there was no need to since he won’t be doing it. Maybe he believes that showing me his true intention would be better than exchanging words with girls. Ah I have lost it, now I’m finding excuses for him.“Earth to pigeon,” he whispered.I forced a smile, “I should be saying that to you.”“Really? You are the one who didn’t hear what I said to you just now.”“You said earth to pigeon.”He shook his head and smiled, “before that.”I frowned, I didn’t hear anything else before that, “what is it?”“I asked how would you feel about going for a walk?”“Oh,” I smiled, “I would love to.”Adrian took my hand and led me out of the gymnasium, we walked in the direction of the school fi
I turned sharply to Christy, “now don’t you dare tell me that its a lie because I can see it in the way you look at him. Half the girls if not all the girls in this school looks at him that way.”I heaved a sigh, Christy is my BFF, she wasn’t happy with me after she found out that Adrian had been coming to my room but I never told her, I finally got her to forgive me and now, I don’t think I want to hide anything from her again. Plus, she is the only one I could talk about this stuff with, “is it that obvious?”“Well, if you keep looking at him like that.”“Looking at him like how?”“Like he is the only guy in this room, like you only live for him and all your dressing tonight is just for him and you want him to have his eyes only on you. Girl, been there, done that. But listen, I’m going to start my pep talk again, now this is an advice someone dear has given to me, I know I’m not that kind of a girl but you are Molly, you don’t take shit from anybody and you put whoever that messes
I can’t wait to show you off! Did you hear that? He can’t wait to show us off! My subconscious rambled in my mind, technically, he said he can’t wait to show me off, not us. I corrected her and she rolled her eyes at me, duh? I’m you, remember? Oh yeah, that is correct, I often forget that since she often challenges my thought like another human.“Penny for your thought?” Adrian asked and I glanced at him, our eyes met briefly and he returned his to the road.“Nothing much, I’m just,” I sighed, “nervous, I guess.”“Nervous? Why Pigeon, whatever in the world that would be making you nervous.”“Mostly because this is the first time I’m going to a school dance?” I felt his gaze on me and I looked at him.“What happened, no guy ever asked you?”“That should be I never gave them the chance to. I tend to chase them away before they could even get close to me,” I heaved a sigh, licking my lips.Adrian nodded, his gaze still on the road. I could see the school coming into view. “Still have th
I put on the last pin on my hair and looked at myself in the mirror, I look beautiful, I know, my brown eyes are clear like a chocolate fondue, speaking from Adrian’s term. I loved that comparison, well, mostly because he was the one that made it. I had gone to my parents room and took my mother’s jewelry, it was silver and sparkles in the light, just like my shoes and my dress. I applied my lip gloss which made my lips glow, then I stood up and looked at myself full length in the mirror, I hardly take time to dress myself like this but I know, I just want to be beautiful tonight, I hope I succeed.A knock on my door made me look behind, “yes?” I called and Max entered.“Whoa sis, you look…” he looked from my dress to my shoes then up to my face, “breathtaking.”I smiled at his compliment, gulping, I licked my lips and got the sweet taste of my lip gloss, “you think?”“Of course,” he insisted, “if I was the one going out with you, I would be afraid of you being snatched away from me.”
In the box in my hand was a pair of silver shoes, I looked up at him in shock and he scratched his head. “I wanted to give you something as a thank you for agreeing to go with me to the dance, even though we had a deal that I will leave you alone for seven days,” he rolled his eyes, and that made me chuckle. “but when I saw this on Saturday night, I only thought of you so I got it. I wanted to give it to you on Sunday but I didn’t know how you are going to react so I said on Monday but ended up saying today. I would have postponed it again if not that tomorrow is the dance and I really want you to wear it to the dance,” he licked his lips, “do you like it?”I looked down at the beautiful shoes, I couldn’t believe my eyes, I brought one half out and looked at it, it glistened with the light and reminded me of the sparkles on my dress, it would go well with it. Something on the heel brought my eyes to it and it was a logo I know all too well, a logo that I know he was obsessed with, Lou
