Nathania was too shock to speak when she heard that and when she finally found her voice, she shrieked, “what? Why on earth would you think that dude?”
Xavier stared at her, “like you know, I have been in this school since Tuesday and I have seen and heard a lot. I have seen you flirting with other girls and today, I couldn’t help but overhear your discussion with her in class. You are really ‘keeping’ yourself for marriage, right?” he made emphasis on the keeping. “Of course, I am a guy who loves things being perfect,” she said. “Hmm,” Xavier said, his eyes not leaving her gray ones. “Well, it better be as you say because, Teresa is a very dear cousin of mine. We may not hang out often but that doesn’t mean that if you hurt her, I am going to let you off. I hope your fighting skills are as good as your flirting ones.” “Dude, calm down, okay? It hasn’t gotten to do that yet. I swear to you that I am really faithful to Teri, trust me. What you claim to have seen are nothing but flirts, trust me and it would never be more than that,” she said, knowing fully well that that is all it would ever be, even with Teresa as well. “Even Teri knows that, just like the girls as well.” “Yeah, you are living up to your reputation as the school’s bad boy who flirts with every girl, including the teachers,” he nodded. “Well, I have said my piece, it better be as you said.” “You have my word,” Nathania said.Right before Xavier could walk away, a boy jogged to them and grinned, punching Nathania on the shoulder, “dude, you coming, right?”Nathania frowned, “coming where, Eric?”“My party, it’s tonight, remember?” Eric asked.“Fuck, I really forgot, but don’t worry, I will be there. You have my word.”“Good,” Eric smiled, “I will be looking forward to seeing you. You coming with the girls’, right?” he raised an eyebrow.Nathania laughed, “always.”Eric grinned and right before he left, he glanced at Xavier, slightly shock to see him. “Oh, hey ghost student,” and with that, he jogged off to his next class.“What did he call me?” Xavier asked with a frown and Nathania had to fight to stop snickering when he glared at her.She cleared her throat and shrugged, “you always live your bike in the parking lot in the morning and when school is over, no one sees it or see you in school. If you have been seeing and hearing everything, surely you must have noticed what everyone is calling you.”“Ghost student, really? That’s the best you guys got?”“Hey don’t look at me, I didn’t come up with it.”“Mm,” Xavier said and then stood up from the locker, “I hope my warning has sink in?”“Loud and clear.”“Good,” he said and started walking away.“You coming to the party?”“I don’t party.”Nathaniel was surprised hearing that, “strange.”“And why is that?” he glanced at her.“Teri said you plays guitar.”“So?”“So that means you like music, so obviously you should like parties.”“Liking music and liking parties is not the same and moreover, I clearly heard him say you should bring girls and I am not a girl so don’t try inviting me.”“Well, with your hair is hard not to mistake you as one,” she murmured but he heard her and just glared at her and turned away. Seeing the direction he was leaving, she asked, “hey, aren’t you going to class?”“Nope, I am going to sleep,” he replied and soon disappeared from the hallway. Surprised, Nathania turned to her locker. His cologne was still everywhere and she found herself inhaling deeply as she wondered how he could be such a fine specimen of the male species but yet still vague and mysterious. There was something about him, she just knows it, but in this case, she can’t find out, obviously not dressed as she was. She sighed and put in her locker combination, thinking that he would definitely be very poor with his grades since he does nothing but sleep. When the school was over, she couldn’t avoid Teresa again and they ended up going over to her place where she would get ready for the party and Nathania believed it a better idea. The last thing she would want was driving back home only to drive back into city again. As she wasted around in Teresa’s bedroom, she heard the roaring of a bike engine and got up from the bed to watch from the window. It was a good thing Teresa’s room looked out to the garage. She saw Xavier on the bike, he was dressed in a long black coat and a black guitar was strapped to his back as he put on his helmet. She wondered where he could be going and how he spends his time. The few times she had met him, he had given nothing away except the fact that he loves staying alone and hate someone butting into his business. The bike soon left her view and she sighed and turned to see Teresa coming out of the bathroom in a towel. The girl looked at her sexily and bit her lower lip seductively before reaching to unwrap her towel.Oh God no! Nathania found herself whispering and right as she was thinking of a way to stop her, there was a knock on the door. Nathania sent a grateful prayer to God as Teresa frowned and went to open the door. It was one of the servants and Teresa’s parents were waiting for them to join them for dinner. As she went over to her wardrobe to find a dress to put on, Nathania lay on the bed with a magazine, acting her character so well. “I just saw Xavier riding off, where is he going?”“I have no idea,” Teresa said, “he leaves every evening since he arrived and dad doesn’t seem bothered and truth be told, none of us is. He always comes back unharmed but between the two of us, I think he is up to something shady.”“Shady, how?”“He is mysterious and secretive, I won’t be surprise if he ends up working for a mafia or being one himself. All I know is that I will not like to be involved with whatever he is doing.”“Hmm,” Nathania thought about the guitar he was carrying, “oh maybe he is going for a gig or something, he is an aspiring artist, isn’t he?”“I don’t think so,” Teresa shook her head, “I will bet all my money that he is drug dealing or something bad, trust me.” But the thing is, Nathania found it hard to trust her and could only wait to uncover his secrets herself.Xavier parked in the garage and took off his helmet, one quick look up at the window right closest to the garage, he could tell that Teresa was not in the room. She always has the habit of leaving the lamp on in her room whenever she sleeps. Turns out she was still scared of the dark like she was when they were little. He got down from the bike, wondering if she was still at the so-called party they talked about. As he thought of her boyfriend Oliver, he groaned. He doesn’t know why but he really finds the boy mysterious or that he has something up his sleeves, something he could feel would hurt Teresa later in the future. He fetched his phone from his pocket and glanced at the time, it was already one in the morning and he saw sure that his uncle and his wife were already asleep. They would be traveling in the morning after all. He stood beside his bike, deliberating on a decision as he stared at his phone and at the end, he gave up, placed his helmet on the bike and left with his gu
Xavier watched the boy in front of him, his anger was bobbling inside him and it was taking all the strength in him not to thrash the whole house. He stared at him angrily, trying to calm himself. “You imbecile, is this how you are supposed to protect her, huh?” he thundered, his hand curled in a tight fist as he held it few inches from his face.Oliver shut his eyes, refusing to look at him and then he whispered, “I’m sorry.” His voice was soft, weak like he too needed protection and Xavier was shocked silly by how weak he appeared and most importantly by how he was affected by his weakness. “I swear to God that I didn’t know this would happen. Everyone is from school and I didn’t think anyone would try to hurt her.” His voice was too soft for a man and Xavier instantly remembered that day in his room when he had walked out of the bathroom to see someone in his bedroom and he heard that soft voice purring ‘Mamma mia, who are you?’He put down his fist and released his hold on Oliver’
Over the next few days, Nathania avoided Xavier as much as she could and also secretly stared at him when he wasn’t looking. The boy was always on his own. He was beginning to show up in class more often than not but sometimes, she always bumps into him sleeping his day away in the library. The school tests were coming up and she found herself contemplating whether or not to offer to tutor him. With the way he always behaves, she doubts if he would even be getting a D minus. Eventually, she cornered him one day in the library. She had seen him going inside and had followed and when she saw him going for a book, she stopped, thinking that maybe he had finally decided to study, after all, they have a big test tomorrow. But to her surprise, he sat down, opened the book, and then place his head on the desk and start sleeping.“What in the world?” she whispered, she waited, thinking that maybe he just wanted to rest or just something but then the seconds started counting to minutes and be
“Xavier Grey, A+. Wow, I’m impressed,” the teacher announced in class as she handed him the script. Nathania couldn’t believe her ears as she turned sharply at him to see the smirk on the boy’s lips just as their eyes met. “Oliver Miles, as always, A+,” the teacher’s voice rang in her mind and she looked up to see that she was already in front of her and smiling. She offered the woman a charming smile with a “thank you, Mrs. Wicket,” and took the script from her but all the while all she could think about was Xavier’s grade. How possible? The guy does nothing but sleep, both in class and in the library, just literally everywhere, so how could he score such an excellence grade? When the class was over, she walked up to her locker to put her book inside and get ready for her next class when she felt someone resting on the locker beside hers. Looking up, the first thing she noticed was the pitch-black hair with purple tips. Her heart missed a beat when her eyes clashed with his deep brow
The days flew by with Nathania avoiding Xavier as much as she could, especially for the fact that he always give the thinking look whenever he saw her and then he would be like ‘don’t worry, I haven’t thought of a good dare yet’ and that would always make her wish the ground would just open up and swallow her. It didn’t help either that she noticed she was developing an attraction for him and in her opinion, it was really bad. With Xavier in the picture, everything she ever worked hard for would be in vain. She knew that if Oliver, her brother were to find out about what she has been doing, he would definitely not be happy with her since she was practically throwing away her own life and living like him.She sighed and tossed around on the bed, her phone dangling in her hand as she contemplated calling her mother and asking about him. She was literally bored with absolutely nothing to do and she can’t study without Xavier’s handsome face popping in her mind. The guy had literally shoc
The door pushed open and Nathania expected to see gangsters and people cleaning their guns with white powder in a bowl sprawled on the desks. There were people alright, and there were desks but to her utmost surprised, there were no guns, no gangsters, no white powders but just people that ranges from teenagers to young adult. And all of them, like literally all of them were identical in dressings as they all had on big round glasses and some where even dressed in oversized hoodies. All of them except one, a boy dressed in a black leather jacket and the only one with color on his hair and without glasses. He looked totally different from them but he was sitting in front of a desk, just like some of them and was busy scribbling fast on a piece of paper.Nathania glanced around and it was then that she noticed the big white board and on it was a math question that just looking at it, she knew she can never solve without a training and then there was a stopwatch, reading fast while every
Nathania felt like her brain circuit snapped and reconnected as she stared at those amazing deep brown eyes. Some strands of his black with purple tips hair fell across his face, giving him that sexy anime character look and she couldn’t help but gulp. It took a while before she finally understood his question and shook her head, “no, no you don’t.”“Good,” Xavier said, crossing his arms on his chest, watching the really tall girl in front of him. It was a good thing he was still taller, even if it was by some inches. “So, what makes you think you know me?”“I don’t know you,” Nathania rushed to say and cleared her throat immediately, glancing away from him just in case her eyes gave her away.“Then why are you cheering me up?” he raised an eyebrow. He couldn’t understand what was happening, when he saw her earlier while trying to leave the house, he didn’t give a hoot about her, but now after giving a thorough look on her face, he could feel like she reminds him of someone, he just c
“I’m sorry, did I waste your time?” Nathania panted as she caught up to the boy in black, blending in with the darkness.“Not much, may I ask what kept you?” Xavier asked, turning to her and watching her as she ate up the distance between them.“I’m sorry, I had to put my granny to sleep.”“You live alone with her?”Nathania nodded. “Yes, my parents are in Philadelphia. They do show up some times but it’s been nearly three months I last saw them.”“You miss them.”“I do,” she smiled sadly, glad that the night was dark and he couldn’t see her face. She missed her brother too, the only reason she was lying to the boy in front of her now. If it weren’t for the fact that she missed him, she wouldn’t have been living a lie. But then again, if it wasn’t for the fact that he was sick, she wouldn’t have come to this town and definitely would not have gone to the school and so won’t meet him. Yes, they do visit her granny but since her granny lives in the small town, they hardly visit the city
