Chapter six

Nathania was too shock to speak when she heard that and when she finally found her voice, she shrieked, “what? Why on earth would you think that dude?”

Xavier stared at her, “like you know, I have been in this school since Tuesday and I have seen and heard a lot. I have seen you flirting with other girls and today, I couldn’t help but overhear your discussion with her in class. You are really ‘keeping’ yourself for marriage, right?” he made emphasis on the keeping.

“Of course, I am a guy who loves things being perfect,” she said.

“Hmm,” Xavier said, his eyes not leaving her gray ones. “Well, it better be as you say because, Teresa is a very dear cousin of mine. We may not hang out often but that doesn’t mean that if you hurt her, I am going to let you off. I hope your fighting skills are as good as your flirting ones.”

“Dude, calm down, okay? It hasn’t gotten to do that yet. I swear to you that I am really faithful to Teri, trust me. What you claim to have seen are nothing but flirts, trust me and it would never be more than that,” she said, knowing fully well that that is all it would ever be, even with Teresa as well. “Even Teri knows that, just like the girls as well.”

“Yeah, you are living up to your reputation as the school’s bad boy who flirts with every girl, including the teachers,” he nodded. “Well, I have said my piece, it better be as you said.”

“You have my word,” Nathania said.

Right before Xavier could walk away, a boy jogged to them and grinned, punching Nathania on the shoulder, “dude, you coming, right?”

Nathania frowned, “coming where, Eric?”

“My party, it’s tonight, remember?” Eric asked.

“Fuck, I really forgot, but don’t worry, I will be there. You have my word.”

“Good,” Eric smiled, “I will be looking forward to seeing you. You coming with the girls’, right?” he raised an eyebrow.

Nathania laughed, “always.”

Eric grinned and right before he left, he glanced at Xavier, slightly shock to see him. “Oh, hey ghost student,” and with that, he jogged off to his next class.

“What did he call me?” Xavier asked with a frown and Nathania had to fight to stop snickering when he glared at her.

She cleared her throat and shrugged, “you always live your bike in the parking lot in the morning and when school is over, no one sees it or see you in school. If you have been seeing and hearing everything, surely you must have noticed what everyone is calling you.”

“Ghost student, really? That’s the best you guys got?”

“Hey don’t look at me, I didn’t come up with it.”

“Mm,” Xavier said and then stood up from the locker, “I hope my warning has sink in?”

“Loud and clear.”

“Good,” he said and started walking away.

“You coming to the party?”

“I don’t party.”

Nathaniel was surprised hearing that, “strange.”

“And why is that?” he glanced at her.

“Teri said you plays guitar.”

“So?”

“So that means you like music, so obviously you should like parties.”

“Liking music and liking parties is not the same and moreover, I clearly heard him say you should bring girls and I am not a girl so don’t try inviting me.”

“Well, with your hair is hard not to mistake you as one,” she murmured but he heard her and just glared at her and turned away. Seeing the direction he was leaving, she asked, “hey, aren’t you going to class?”

“Nope, I am going to sleep,” he replied and soon disappeared from the hallway. Surprised, Nathania turned to her locker. His cologne was still everywhere and she found herself inhaling deeply as she wondered how he could be such a fine specimen of the male species but yet still vague and mysterious. There was something about him, she just knows it, but in this case, she can’t find out, obviously not dressed as she was. She sighed and put in her locker combination, thinking that he would definitely be very poor with his grades since he does nothing but sleep.

When the school was over, she couldn’t avoid Teresa again and they ended up going over to her place where she would get ready for the party and Nathania believed it a better idea. The last thing she would want was driving back home only to drive back into city again. As she wasted around in Teresa’s bedroom, she heard the roaring of a bike engine and got up from the bed to watch from the window. It was a good thing Teresa’s room looked out to the garage. She saw Xavier on the bike, he was dressed in a long black coat and a black guitar was strapped to his back as he put on his helmet.

She wondered where he could be going and how he spends his time. The few times she had met him, he had given nothing away except the fact that he loves staying alone and hate someone butting into his business. The bike soon left her view and she sighed and turned to see Teresa coming out of the bathroom in a towel. The girl looked at her sexily and bit her lower lip seductively before reaching to unwrap her towel.

Oh God no! Nathania found herself whispering and right as she was thinking of a way to stop her, there was a knock on the door. Nathania sent a grateful prayer to God as Teresa frowned and went to open the door. It was one of the servants and Teresa’s parents were waiting for them to join them for dinner.

As she went over to her wardrobe to find a dress to put on, Nathania lay on the bed with a magazine, acting her character so well. “I just saw Xavier riding off, where is he going?”

“I have no idea,” Teresa said, “he leaves every evening since he arrived and dad doesn’t seem bothered and truth be told, none of us is. He always comes back unharmed but between the two of us, I think he is up to something shady.”

“Shady, how?”

“He is mysterious and secretive, I won’t be surprise if he ends up working for a mafia or being one himself. All I know is that I will not like to be involved with whatever he is doing.”

“Hmm,” Nathania thought about the guitar he was carrying, “oh maybe he is going for a gig or something, he is an aspiring artist, isn’t he?”

“I don’t think so,” Teresa shook her head, “I will bet all my money that he is drug dealing or something bad, trust me.” But the thing is, Nathania found it hard to trust her and could only wait to uncover his secrets herself.
