Chapter seventeen
Flight 24 of the virgin Atlantic airlines now flew at an altitude of 356meters above sea level on route to it’s destination – Abuja. The weather had been associated with storms and a very cloudy atmosphere. The flight was only permitted to leave the airport because it was a local one that could take no longer than an hour at most, to complete.
Nena stared out the window at the clouds as the plane managed it’s way out of a series of very violent turbulences. The experience had been terrifying, although this wasn’t her first time experiencing such a turbulent flight but something about this one left her very jittered as she remembered that she had so much to live for and this was not the right time to die in a plane crash.
The flight had become stable for a while now and rays of sunshine were seen to be rising , tendering it’s reflections on the surface of the plane’s windows.

Back home in Lagos, Maestro was fully busy at the warehouse. He had a lot of work to do in catching up on all the lost time that Nena’s unanticipated presence had cost him when she was around. The board room of the NDLEA Is located in the upper East end of the last floor of the 20 feet building. The raid. It had never been easy going on a raid in the city with officer Ola. Jasper always found it difficult to accommodate Ola’s brandish nature and claim for authority whenever they went out on such raids. He hated the fact that they had even made him team leader on the field and more so , he hated the regular Lagos traffic and being stuffed in the van as they drove through it all. The van was a white 2010 dodge sprinter. It had the ability to run from zero to a hundred and 80kilomeeters an hour in just 4800 seconds but this swift moving ability was of course hindered by the heavy traffic the vehicle commuted through. Alone in his cubicle and the production warehouse, maestro was looking frantically at the flash drive he had in his possession. He had just requested his pc from zeke a few moments ago and as requested, it was brought to his office desk.He opened the laptop computer and powered it up, observing patiently as the windows presentation worked it’s to the desktop background on the screen. He quickly inserted the drive and tried to open it up. A pop up notification came on requesting for the four digit password code. at this point, maestro was disappointed but although not surprised. He had expected some sort of security protocol on classified information for a criminal investigation. He tried a few alpha – numeric entries and they didn’t seem to work. He decided he shouldn’t try anymore before he crashes the drive permanently. He had a few ideas about people who could easily bypass the password authentication through the use of brute force technology.

Located on the ground floor of the garage floor , the underground vault was placed at the far east end of the building , left to be controlled by a circuit board that was placed on the wall. The staff lady with the wrench who had been working over there earlier when the NDLEA agents were around, now returned to her post but this time, strangely she wasn’t there to work as ususal. Nena entered her bathroom in a rush, not wanting to leave another moment to be wasted worrying about her situation on the hotel bed. She had been laying there for the past hour since she checked in . she had been too exhausted from the trip and more so, disturbed about misplacing her flash drive and all the documents it contained.She feels she had been distracted . she feels she had been careless.. sometimes Nena gets to forget that she is only just human. She tries to take the whole world on her bare hands. She had felt that she needed a shower now and laying on the bed with these thoughts weren’t helping at all. Deep into the darkness of the road, maestro’s land cruiser SUV had been dashing through the night in the company of his convoy. Maestro was headed for another meeting with the elders. He had called for their attention once again. The chaos that were now befalling him and his business had turned him to be very uncomfortable. Most of them had been coming from things that had no control over but the elders do. They could stop being lenient with Nadia and call her to order so he can avoid a territorial war. The convoy of vehicles arrived at the Hotel de Continental , or as the crime lords called it – the continental ground. This was where the elders had created to settle the business disputes amongst criminals in the city. The building where they had their last meeting with Nadia and maestro that didn’t end so well. The Building was located in a five hectare compound filled with low cut grasses.. the passageway into the building was a 15 meters tarred road with rails on both sides that ran with it down to the building entrance.
