Chapter 16

It was today, Aiden's birthday party. Every member of the pack would be present, and from other neighboring packs too, Alphas, Beta's, Omegas and deltas, all would be present to witness the great and promising alpha son find his mate.

Everyone in the pack was invited, no one was left out, including members of lower-rankings, and everyone would be present, except me of course.

I walked lazily down the stairs, already in my night wear.

I had stayed away and avoided contact with Ryan and Aiden all day, I went to school early and came home before they could find me. Neither of them came home nor called to ask why I was avoiding them. They must have been engulfed with the birthday preparations.

They didn't know I wasn't coming to the birthday dinner today, and I wasn't planning on telling them. Or else, Aiden would have sent Ryan to come get me.

Ariana dashed through the living room and my brows raised momentarily. Okay, what was going on? She had people in our sitting room, a.. make-up artist? And a... pedicurist and some of her friends.

"Okay, what's going on?" I wasn't supposed to ask, but I did before I could stop myself.

The girls hissed at me and acted like I didn't exist. I pressed my lips together, Ariana must have told them about what I did yesterday. Even if she didn't, they didn't like me anyways.

I dragged my legs to the couch, and sat, turning on the ancient tv, and whose.. remote.. wasn't working, of course. I dropped it to the table. It's useless. I didn't have anything to do. I was bored. Everyone was going to a party, and I couldn't. I needed to find something to do.

"Well, since you asked, I will tell you" There came Ariana's voice.

I stood up at once. "Hey, I'm sorry about.." I tried to apologize but she cut me off.

"Not interested" She said with a drowsy smile, dragging her pink ball dress and spinning herself.

Why was she dressed in a ball gown? I didn't know I asked that out loud, but I did.

"Lol, she really knows nothing" One of her friends let out a scoff. "What? You didn't get the letter?" Ariana asked, almost in a mocking tone.

"What letter?" I asked. Who sends a letter in this age? Oh, the alpha still does whenever he wants to pass a news along to the members, instead of a mind link.

"Oh, right? I trashed it." She said and burst into a hysterical laugh, one which her friends joined in immediately.

"Why?" I asked, shocked.

"Cause I didn't think you needed it, come on, those two were your best friends, they would have told you anyways, but I guess not.." She lowered her voice, accessing me.

"I guess they didn't tell you seeing as you aren't dressed yet?" She mocked.

I scoffed, and had my seat again. I was stupid for feeling guilty and wanting to apologize. She didn't deserve it.

"I'm not going" I muttered as I had my seat. "What?" I heard her gasp, and this time it was genuine.

"Why?" She asked. "I don't want to" I replied.

She went silent for a few seconds before saying " Awwn, I guess you gave up on your dream of being his Luna" She suddenly dropped like a bombshell, and my eyes widened slowly as I turned to her.

"What? You didn't think I knew, oh please, I'm your twin sister, I know everything about you, and I know how much you're in love with.." I grabbed the remote and pointed it to her neck as if it were a sword. "Shut the hell up!" I snapped.

She scoffed and then chuckled. "Glad to see you're now in your right mind. You could never be his mate, not a useless omega like you" She said and then walked away, then stopped.

"Though I would have loved it if you came, I have a good feeling I could be his mate, I am worthy of being his mate, because unlike you, I'm a strong omega, his parents nor the pack members wouldn't think twice before accepting me, can't say the same about you. So yeah, I would have loved it if you came, I wanted you to watch me have what you can't" She said then walked off. Her two friends followed.

The last one came over to me. "If you changed your mind, all the ladies were asked to wear a ball gown, since one of us had a chance of being the alpha prince's mate" She said, then shook her head in pity before walking away.

Wow. I slumped back to the chair and gently put down the remote. Thirty minutes later, Ariana came out with her minions and left for the dinner party.

An hour later, I was still sitting in the living room, watching an old show on the tv which happened to work immediately Ariana left, after I hit the remote on the floor.

It was just me in the house, mom and dad had left early for the party, they were both workers at the pack house and all workers were asked to honor the invitation and be at the party. I had lied to them, saying I would join them later.

How long has it been since the party started? I then realized I hadn't taken my phone from my room, so I walked upstairs to get it.

23 missed calls from Ryan, and 10 from Aiden. They had left tons of messages too. I switched off my phone, I was going to ignore them. I won't go to his party and watch him pick a girl as his mate while I was deeply in love with him. I won't. I walked back downstairs, and I stopped on my tracks, my eyes widening.

Aiden and Ryan sat on the couch, Ryan's legs crossed as he had his eyes on the tv, watching with deep interest and Aiden sitted straight, a concerned look on his face.

I dragged my feet slowly and Aiden raised his head up and Ryan turned to me.
