*JANELLE*
Kara smirked.”Well, your future husband is…”
“The O’Connells are here!”A servant suddenly announced.
I turned around and saw a man in a wheelchair, he was being pushed by someone.
He had definite facial features and was very handsome.
Even if he was sitting in a wheelchair, one could still tell how formidable he was.
Was this man the same person who was flirting with that woman at that dressing room?
He was the eldest son of the O’Connells family?
I recalled that in the fitting room, there was no sign of a wheelchair.
I even saw him stand at some point when he told the woman to go get more dress.
What was going on right now?
I was very sure that Moore family being talked about was mine.
It couldn’t be a coincidence.
Could it be that this man was pretending to be crippled?
Why would he?
Gary suddenly shouted at me.”Come over here, Janelle! Come meet your husband-to-be.”
I walked over, quietly.
“Sir Donovan, this is Janelle.”

*DONOVAN*
I frowned as I stared at my wife-to-be.
Even if I didn’t want this marriage. I had expected her to be at least goodlooking.
But the girl standing before me looked skinny, young and somewhat malnourished.
I had known about my arranged marriage since I was small. I never thought about disobeying my family’s wishes and breaking the agreement.
I had accepted it. I didn’t do love or any of those feelings. I just thought that when the time came, I just had to marry her, keep her home to birth and nurse our children. She could also engage in other things she wanted to do as long as it didn’t affect my family’s name.
But when that incident happened with Laura, I had to take responsibility and so, I knew I had to break off this marriage so I could be fair to Laura.
I had released news about being in a terrible car accident. I announced that it had left me disabled and impotent.
I thought doing that would make the Moore family dissatisfied and so they would break the agreement since I couldn’t directly do it first.
I was surprised they didn’t.
But now, I was seeing a girl that didn’t seem to be his daughter.
I mean, if she were Gary Moore’s daughter, why would she look this haggard.
It was as if they got a maid and draped her in an expensive dress.
Was he trying to fool me into marrying someone else instead of his daughter?
If he doesn’t find me worthy enough, he had better call off the wedding.
That was my only purpose of faking being crippled in the first place.
As if he read my thoughts, Gary said.
“My daughter has been living with her mother at the countryside. She’s a very hardworking girl but I told her she didn’t need to work anymore from now on. So don’t worry, soon, you’ll see how beautiful she is.”
I scoffed.
Beautiful, my foot.
So this man still wanted to marry off his daughter to me regardless of the horrible news I published about myself?
I stared at the girl and taunted, coldly.
“I got crippled two months ago. The doctor say I’d never be able to work. Sure, we might have lots of servants to assist me, but as my wife, you’d be my number one caregiver. Plus, I wouldn’t be able to satisfy you in bed. I can’t get your pregnant. Do you want that kind of life for yourself?”
“Yes.”She answered, immediately and bluntly.
I blinked, surprised.
What was the deal with this family?!
*JANELLE*
There was an eerie feeling about this man and I already knew that this marriage won’t last.
I wasn’t hoping it would last anyway.
I already had a deal with Gary.
So I’ll play my part and once I get married to this man, Gary had better play his.
And I also kind of understood why this man was pretending to be crippled.
It was because of that woman in the dressing room.
He couldn’t call off the wedding so he wanted the Moore family to be the ones to call it off.
And it seemed he didn’t fully expect that Gary would still insist his daughter marries him.
Donovan was still glaring at me, as if he wanted to scare me away with his arms.
I tried not to be intimidated.
I didn’t want to continue being that weak and powerless girl.
I needed to rise to the top no matter what.
And so I said to him.
“We’ve been engaged since we were little. No matter what had happened to you now, it is not enough to break the agreement.”
His eyes turned colder.”You…”I saw his take a deep breath as if trying to cool his temper.
And then he said, a bit calm.”Yeah, you’re right. Nothing should break the agreement.”
I swallowed and nodded, then I looked away from his chilling gaze.
“Well, that’s settled!”Gary announced, breaking the silence.
I could tell he was happy to be in-laws with the O’Connells at my expense.
Ovan gathered his strength and grabbed Phoebe more heavily. There was a kind of momentum that he would strangle her to death if she didn't say it!Boyce saw that it was not a good sign.Ovan was really going to strangle her.He persuaded at once, "It's more important to find Janelle now. Phoebe the key. If she's dead, how can we find her?"“If she's dead, we won't be able to find Janelle!" Seeing Ovan still not moving, Boyce continued to persuade him.Although Ovan was losing his mind, he could still listen to Boyce's words at the moment. Now it was more important to find Janelle. He threw Phoebe hard, and then her body fell down on the steps. Her forehead hit the edge. After a sharp pain, she felt a warm current sliding down from her forehead. When she could finally breathe freely, she opened her mouth and breathed heavily.Boyce didn't give her enough time to relieve the pain of suffocation just now. He reached out his hand to lift her up and threw her into the car. "Let's see how l
The kick landed directly on Enzo’s body.Enzk covered his abdomen and was angry. Anyone who was suddenly kicked would angry.“Who are you? What's wrong with you? Do you know where this place is? How dare you come here?" He climbed up from the ground with his hands on his belly and stared at the two figures standing in the door.Boyce came out.Enzo saw his face clearly and frowned.“Why are you here?" He narrowed his eyes. "Don't think that you can break into people's house just because you are a public official. Bullying people is against the law. Do you want to lose your job?"Boyce sneered and said, "I just enforce the law impartially."He knew Boyce's identity. When he said that, Enzo became a little uneasy. What did he mean? Boyce was not an ordinary person. His ability to deal with emergencies was very strong. He took out his cell phone and showed him a video. "Is this your sister?"Enzo took a look. That person was wearing a mask, but judging from her figure and eyes, he knew s
Boyce looked at his gloomy face and took a deep breath. "I'll send more people right away." Boyce called his subordinate and sent more forces to find Phoebe’s whereabouts.“Don't be too anxious. The Gallo family lives in the city. She can't run away." Boyce said.Ovan’s Adam's apple bobbed up and down. "Janelle is missing."“What?" Boyce was confused. "Wasn’t she still here during the day?"“I can't get in touch with her tonight." His voice drifted in the air, very light, and the air blew it away.Boyce was very careful. After all, he was the one who was investigating the case, so he immediately thought of the key to the matter. "Does it have anything to do with Phoebe?"Wasn't that obvious?Ovan glanced at Agnes, who was covered with a white cloth. "What do you think she died for?"Boyce thought for a moment and said,“Could it be a deceptive trick to buy time?"She used Agnes’ death to confuse them and delay the time. By the time they figured it out, Janelle had already been taken a
What?Aiden’s eyes widened. His Mommy and the bad man hadn't got a divorce certificate yet? Then how did they get separated?“Are your adults so careless?" Aiden was very distressed. If there was still a marriage certificate, they were still legal husband and wife. How could he find a better man for mommy?“Brother, where is mommy?" Ava pulled Aiden’s clothes and her eyelids trembled. "I'm sleepy. I want to sleep in mommy's arms."Aiden held his sister in his arms and said, "Sleep in my arms first."“I'll send you home." Ovan restarted the car and drove back.Soon they returned to the villa. At this moment on the road, Ava fell asleep in her brother's arms.Ovan opened the back door, and bent in to pick up Ava. It was not the first time for him to carry her, but this time it felt different. His heart was trembling uncontrollably, and his fingers were trembling as well. This was his daughter,
Lisa was happy and wiped her tears and said, "I just feel sad for the two children, and it must have been hard for Janelle to take care of them all these years…”“They'll be fine in the future." Fred sighed. "You've worried too much. Let's go home first." Fred supported her.Lisa knew that she could not stay.Fred was right. She could come and see them or take them home when Ovan was not around.Anton ran to the front to open the door.Joan sat down on the sofa and looked at Susan. "You shouldn't hide it from me. You should tell me. No matter how dissatisfied you are, you shouldn't hide it for so long for the sake of the children." Joan complained.Susan lowered her eyes slightly. If she knew it, she would say it.She also wanted the children to have a father. However, Janelle said that the man that night was a native. After so long, no one mentioned him, let alone thinking about Ovan. But she didn't e
Aiden tried his best to open his eyes wide to not let his tears fall down.He didn't want to cry in front of the bad man or let Ovan see his weakness.Susan tried to comfort him. "I'll call your mommy first, okay? We don't know where she is if we go out like this. Wait a minute, I'll go get my phone."“No, I'm going to find Mommy now." Aiden was not willing to wait for a moment.“Aiden…” Joan came over to persuade him.Seeing the two children like this, she was heartbroken.Lisa tilted her head and secretly wiped her tears. These two children were so pitiful. No one could calm him down.Aiden determinedly wanted to leave home.“You don't need to persuade me. Don't cry. You think my sister and me are pitiful? We are not. We have mommy. She loves us very much. She takes us to sleep and tells us stories and teaches us how to read and how to behave. Mommy is enough for us. We are not pitiful at
