Lord Marco's POV

My senses were sharper than they had ever been. They had to be. I was out in the wild, cold and on edge. The only thing keeping me steady was that I was not alone. Sam was with me.

We tried to talk as we moved, but the farther we got from the Blackthorne lands, the quieter we became. Words stopped coming.

At least Alia was safe. I held on to that thought as we walked. I kept weighing my options. Should I go back home or find somewhere else to hide until they left my estate? Either way, I needed answers. I had to know what the boss was planning.

I owed him. He was the reason we had settled into the human lands without anyone watching us. But we had not spoken in a long time. Mostly because of his alliance with my brother, and because he had funded his operations until everything fell apart a few years ago.

I was still lost in thought when I heard leaves rustle to my side. Something moved. Then it sounded like someone fell inside the bushes.

Salcan's POV Everyone craved power. I saw it clearly in the way the wolves rushed out of the lands and returned with rogues to draw power from. I did not have to say much. They already knew what to do. Soon, they were setting up a bonfire at the center of the courtyard. I stood at the highest part of the land and watched them move around like hungry dogs waiting for meat. My eyes did not stay on them for long. They kept drifting to the Blackthorne Beta I would draw power from that night. It felt unreal. Almost like a dream I had waited too long to see come true. I moved quickly down to the courtyard and into my throne room. I picked up the large vials I had prepared earlier. Before I even stepped back outside, laughter and celebration filled the air. When I returned to the courtyard, all the wolves were already gathered around the fire. They did not wait for my command. “Moonblessed wolves,” I said loudly. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. For the first time in our his

Salcan's POV “Please. If you keep dropping my rank, I’ll die. I have children,” the beta screamed. “What makes you think I care?” I said, injecting him again with my special potion. I had done it. I had finally perfected the mixture. It took me a few days in isolation, but it was finished. After I doused those ungrateful gammas the other day, I realized that Lumina’s potential had not been fully tapped. And it was my destiny to use it to its full extent. I mixed it with some of my other concoctions, and it became something unbelievable. The wolves lost their ranks, just like Damien once did. But that was not the best part. For every rank they lost, blood poured from their nostrils. Out of pure mockery, I decided to taste that blood. The moment I did, I felt more alive than I ever had. It was not until the last full moon that I realized I had grown far more powerful than before. Maybe the General did not know it then, but Lumina allows a transfer of power. I should have known.

Lira's POV ‘We have been planning something for some time now, Alura and I,” Damien said, cutting into the call.I turned to him. “What’s your plan?” I asked.“You have to end the call first,” he said with a small smile.“I just wanted to give you a heads up about the boss,” Lord Marco said through the phone. “I have no idea what his next move will be.”“That’s good,” I replied. “I’ll let you know if anything comes up. For now, I have to go.”“Take care of Alia,” I added firmly, then ended the call.I turned to face them.“I want us to disappear together,” Damien said the moment I ended the call.I narrowed my eyes and stared straight at him. “Are you serious?” I asked, surprised.“Yes, he is,” Alura said, stepping in.“We’ve realized that fighting has never brought us anything but loss,” Damien said. His expression grew heavy. “We understood that after we lost Aragon.”“This matters even more now,” he continued firmly. “Everyone is searching for you. You’re in real danger. First it

Alia's POV I reached the lab and went straight to the cupboard on the right. I opened it and pulled out a shotgun. Matthew’s eyes narrowed as he stared at it. “What in the world is that?” he asked, his eyes wide. “My dad doesn’t want me using actual guns, so he trained me to use this instead,” I said as I adjusted my grip. “Isn’t that more dangerous?” Matthew asked. “Only if you don’t know how to use it,” I replied. “We need to get going.” I slid open one of the machines in the corner of the lab and pressed a button. A hatch opened on the floor. “What’s that?” Matthew asked. “You ask a lot of questions,” I said, rolling my eyes. “When we get down there, I’ll tell you. For now, let’s go.” I climbed in first and he followed. As we moved through the tunnel, we started hearing sounds from above the house. It sounded like they had discovered what happened. “We need to move faster,” I said. “The button to close the hatch is on the other end of the tunnel.” He nodded, and we hur

Damien's POV I went to the healers’ quarters to see Divine and question her. Something about everything that had happened did not sit right with me. I could feel it in my chest, that quiet sense that something was wrong. I did not like it. I also did not like the thought that I might be getting too soft in my judgment, but I pushed that aside as I walked in. The moment I entered, every wolf bowed. No one spoke. One of the healers stepped forward and guided me through the halls. “Where is Divine?” I asked. “She is this way, Alpha,” the head healer replied. We reached the room she was supposed to be in. The door was open. She was not there. The healer froze. His eyes widened. “That… that is not possible,” he said. “I assigned someone to watch her. She was not meant to move.” My anger flared. “Then explain how she is gone,” I snapped. “Do you think this is a minor matter? The lands are unstable, and everyone has a role to play. If you fail at yours, people get hurt.” The healer
