Jax
I glanced down at Willow after the door had shut completely. She still appeared to be doing alright, but my wolf and I would continue to worry until we completed the mating bond.
I still had the overwhelming urge to claim Willow; it was nearly unbearable to resist, in fact, despite my exhausted state. The only thing that allowed me to abstain was knowing that her fragile mental state could not handle it yet. Her needs would always come before my own, and she just was not ready.
I was thankful she allowed me to hold her, cradled in my lap as she did, but I suspected that had more to do with her alarm when I had first arrived in the room earlier.
Nevertheless, I could see the clear adoration in her eyes as she gazed up into mine. I could also see the hesitation, unfortunately.
I knew that was

Willow Everything had started to fade, but then Jax was there, and not for the first time either. It seemed that I was destined to continue being saved by my mate, the one Luna had chosen for me alone. I knew that I had been on the edge of having a full-blown panic attack before Jax had arrived in the room and scooped me up into his arms. I had zoned everything out in that moment, except the dreadful words that Ronnie had spoken. I was a bit ashamed to admit that I did not even know Jax was there until he was depositing me gently into his lap, quietly murmuring soothing words in my ear periodically, as he rubbed small circles over my back. Any inclination I might have had to protest the intimate position immediately fled as soon as his intoxicating scent filled my nostrils. The smell of fresh cut grass and the rich, almost nutty, aroma of coffee subsumed all
Willow I had fallen asleep, feeling optimistic for the future after having received a promise from Jax for us to move into his lodge after we had rested for a while. I would have insisted on moving immediately, with as much as I hated being inside this house, but I had found myself exhausted and slightly weak still, most likely caused by the remnants of wolfsbane in my system. Jax’s tired eyes had also further encouraged me to wait until after we had gotten some sleep to make the move. I had allowed myself to fall asleep within the safety of his arms, all of my worries having faded away for the time being. I felt more revitalized after my nap with Jax, much more so than I could recall ever feeling, in fact. I had been having a dream, though I could not remember what it had been about, but I awoke feeling blissfully happy so it
Jax I stood locked in place like a lovestruck fool for a few moments while I waged a war with my wolf. He wanted to barge into the bathroom and finish what Willow had unintentionally started. I mean, I wanted that too, but I knew that would not be the right thing to do. Instead, I took a few moments to rein in the desire for now, and then I checked in with Ronnie through our mind link to make sure everything was set for the move later today while I waited on Willow. I could hear her moving around in the bathroom while I paced the small room. I could not deny the satisfaction I had felt seeing her wearing my shirt when she had first emerged from the bathroom last night, but I was troubled over her lack of personal belongings. There was a reason Ronnie was giving Willow clothes, despite their differences in size and the fact that Willow was supposed to live in
Willow I was in a bit of a daze when Jax finally pulled away from the mind-blowing kiss. It had only lasted a few short moments. At least, I think it had, but the whole experience was kind of surreal. One second, I was freaking the fuck out, and the next, Jax’s incredible lips were on mine, making me instantly melt without a second thought. Any panic I had felt at the thought of leaving the room had fled the moment his lips had touched mine. I felt heat roll through my body as I strained to get closer to him, my wolf wanting nothing more than for me to turn more fully around and straddle him while he pillaged my inexperienced mouth. I nearly died when Jax had reached up and tugged my head back to angle my lips, and then he had playfully bit my lower lip, the surprise causing me to open my mouth for his ravenous tongue. I lost
Jax I felt a mixture of emotions as Willow moved to get out of my lap, especially after the words I had just spoken. However, before I could panic too much, Willow turned and met my eyes with a mischievous expression on her face, and then she had spoken those words that had driven my wolf insane. He was clawing at my skin to get out as she stepped away. I was dying to see what her wolf looked like, but I was seriously in awe of her bravery. The clear taunt in her eyes was also driving me up the wall, despite her attempt to bring levity to the situation. I did another sweep of our surroundings with my superior senses, ensuring that we remained alone while my mate was vulnerable. Then, I glanced over to where Willow had just been standing. She was still standing there, looking as g
Willow I watched as Jax got up and looked around the surrounding area. I was a bit confused as to what he was doing, but my wolf spoke up in my head saying He is making sure we are safe, dummy. I was surprised to realize that she was right, though the insult was unnecessary. I knew she was just anxious, but still. I noticed the pinched look on Jax’s face as he strained his senses. I allowed my hearing to branch out as well, but I was disappointed when I realized that my senses were still blunted by the remnants of the wolfsbane in my system. Well, thank Luna for Jax being here. I did not want another run in with Zeke, or anyone else for that matter, anytime soon. I turned my attention to the matter at hand, knowing Jax would be by my side as soon as he was sure it was saf
Jax The lingering fragrance that denoted only Willow teased my wolf as he swiftly stalked off after our mischievous mate, making sure to give her a generous head start. Her petite legs would be no match for the speed my wolf could manage if pressed, or so I had thought, but that was not the point of this little foray into the forest anyway. As my wolf ran through the trees, I was a bit surprised to realize the distance Willow had already covered, causing my wolf to pick up the pace. My wolf felt immense pleasure at our mate’s superior speed, but he was eager to finally catch up with her. Damn, she was fast I could not help but add in my head as we continued loping off after our wayward mate at a steady speed. The sound of the river increased the further we ran, reducing the distance I could reach with my hearing, but the sight
Willow I was fairly certain my wolf had fallen asleep sometime between the water fight, the subsequent wrestling match that ensued later by the bank of the river, and now. After we had exhausted ourselves in the chilly stream and our wolves had finished frolicking by the water, Jax and I had collapsed in a tangled heap underneath a nearby tree, still in our wolf forms. I remembered my wolf nuzzling against him until she had found a more comfortable position to rest in, but that was it. The next thing I knew, we were glancing up to a darkening sky and Jax’s wolf looking out over the horizon. My wolf got up, stretching out her legs before moving forward and gently butting her head up against Jax’s wolf to get his attention. While this little adventure had been much ne
