Summer has arrived, Tara has moved away leaving you to hang with Zack and Sam. You get a text.

Look out your window. N x

You head to your window to see Nate waving you down, you rush out the front door to join Nate, he walks you to his back garden, which has a massive pool in.

"So how are you doing since Tara's moved?" He asks.

"I miss her." You reply sadly.

"That's understandable." Nate reassures you.

"Thanks for being there the past few weeks." You smile at him.

For the past three weeks since Tara left, you spent every day at Nates and ever night on video call to him to fall asleep.

"It's my pleasure, I don't want to see you alone." Nate smiles.

"Sam does though." You're almost on the verge of tears.

"Yeah, well he's a jackass." Nate remarks.

"I know, is your dad okay with this?" You ask.

"Yeah, Mac is in there talking to him now." Nate smiles.

"Oh, great." You breathe a sigh of relief.

You hear Nate's gate go, Sam comes in his eye's filled with rage.

"How many times do I have to tell you!" Sam yells.

"Dude, she's not a kid." Nate defends you.

"Stay out of this Winters!" Sam snarls.

Sam and Nate both start raising their voices, Mac and Nate's dad come out to see what all the commotion is.

"What's going on?" Mac asks.

"Sam came over and just started shouting." You explain.

"Maybe you should leave son." Mac turns to Sam.

"Make me." Sam hisses.

"Don't test me son." Mac warns.

"I'm not your son, my dad was killed by that bastard!" Sam points to Nates dad.

Sam burns with rage, he lunges at Nate's dad, you step in the way.

"Stop it Sam" You try to reason with him.

"No, I'm avenging dad!" Sam declares.

"NO!" You scream at him.

"GET OUT OF THE WAY!" Sam bellows at you.

"Make me!" You snap at him.

Sam swipes at you sending you flying into Nate's fence, you thud into the wooden fence.

"Olivia!" Nate rushes to your side.

"Are you okay?" sadness fills his eyes.

"Protect...your...dad." You splutter.

"Okay, I'll be back I promise." He kisses your head and runs to help his dad.

Nate rushes to his dad, Sam's running at him, Nate tackles Sam.

"Stop!" Nate yells at Sam. But it was too late, Sam was fully turned.

"He needs to pay." Sam's words filled with anger.

Sam flies at Nate's dad, Swiping at him in a frenzy, Nate's dad yelps in pain.

"Sam, stop!" You call from the side, clutching your ribs. Sam turns to you.

"No, Nate can feel our pain." Sam growls.

"Please, stop Sam, it's not fair." You're out of breath and in pain.

"No he needs to pay." Sam charges again at Nate's dad whose lying helplessly on the floor.

You step between Sam and Nate's dad even though you're weak.

"MOVE!" Sam yells at you.

"No, he can't defend himself Sam!" You sob, you just want everything to stop.

"He needs to pay." Sam is emotionless.

Sam hits you again, you go flying into Nate's pool, everything becomes muffled. You can hear a commotion as you try to pull yourself out of the water, you struggle, the pain from Sam hitting you twice is too much, you wince as you try to pull yourself out of the pool.

"Leave I'll take care of your sister." Mac demanded.

You look to Nate whose sobbing over his dad's body.

"Nate?" Tears fill your eyes.

"You should give him some space." Mac smiles kindly at you.

"Please tell him I'm sorry." You sob.

Before Mac can reply, Nate gets up from his dad's body and walks towards you.

"Happy now?" He's a mix of sad and angry.

"No!" You look at him hoping to get past his anger.

"Just go, I can't deal with you right now." Nate's words tug at your heart.

"I'm sorry." You sob.

"Save it." Nate hisses.

You walk away, limping upset. You arrive home. You see Sam, his face buried in his hands.

"I hope you're happy now" You snap at him.

"Oh, save it, I don't care." Sam hisses.

"That's why we are here, because you don't care!" You're furious.

"Go Away!" Sam yells at you.

"Happily." You head out to find Mac's pack.

You head to the cabin in the woods.

"Hey kid, what's up, you look like you're on a mission." The werewolf from before smiles at you.

"I want to speak to Mac." You reply.

"Sure, I'll go grab him." Mac comes out onto the porch, you see Nate standing behind him.

"How can I help?" Mac asks.

"I want to join your pack." You reply, seriously.

"What?" Mac looks at you shocked a moment.

"I want to join your pack." You repeat yourself again.

"I can't allow that, Sam killed my brother, making him the alpha of my brother's pack, meaning I have to sort out whose staying in that pack or not." Mac explained.

"whose in that pack?" You ask.

"Just Nate." Mac replies.

"Is he okay considering?" You give Nate an apologetic look over Macs shoulder.

"As good as he can be given the situation." Mac replies with a sympathetic smile.

"I'm so sorry." You tell him again, as if the first three times wasn't enough.

"Look, I think it's best if you go home, Nate's gonna join my pack, but Sam will still be an alpha since he killed Nate's dad." Mac explained.

"Where's Nate gonna live?" You ask concerned.

"At his home until college." Mac smiles at you.

You look over Mac's shoulder giving Nate a look in hopes he can decipher how you feel through just a look, you walk away. A week later, you're sitting in your Livingroom with your mom and Sam.

"Are you sure you will be fine on the trip?" Your mom asks.

"Yes." Sam smiles at her.

"Look after your sister please." Your mom smiles kindly at him.

"Always." Sam replies.

"So what are you gonna do now you're an alpha?" You ask Sam.

"Take over their pack." Sam laughs.

"Their pack is just Nate." You explain.

"Then Nate is under my instruction." Sam laughs.

"Actually Nate is joining Macs pack." You reply.

"Then you're my pack." His temper grows.

"I'd rather not." you snap at him.

"You have no choice." Sam declares.

You head up to your room without another word to Sam. You pull out your phone to text Nate.

Text conversation;

Nate, I hope you're doing okay, all things considered.

Delete my number

I tried to stop him.

I never want to speak to you again!

I'm sorry, I tried to stop him, Sam almost killed me because I tried to stop him!

There's no reply but you don't delete his number. You begin to text Tara but instead shove your phone back into your pocket, you change into your pj's. You tuck your phone into your pocket and climb into bed. As soon as your head hits the pillow you drift off to sleep. Half way through the night you wake up, in a panic.

"Nate!" You yell out.

It's as though something was telling you to check on him, an instinct if you will. You climb out of bed and head to your window... But nothing, no lights are on, no movement is coming from his house, you presume he's asleep since his truck is still there. You head back to sleep.
