A wonderful friend

"What!"

That was Mel's friend's exclamation immediately she broke the news to her.

"Amy, I'm so done! What should I do now?" Mel cried.

She wasn't able to change Kyle's mind and just took the money he gave her and left.

She was presently sitting down on a plastic made chair near her baby bed and swinging it back and forth, her gaze locked on her child as tears poured from her eyes.

"Calm down, Mel. I will pretend I'm having cramps and join you at home in a while. Don't overthink it okay? I will search for a job on your behalf. We will sort this hun? Can you hear me?" Amy asked worriedly.

"Hmm hmm." That was as Mel's reply, while her tears never cease to drop.

Amy has been her close friend since grade 1.

A friend that stood by her and was like everything she never had.

Or should I say everything she foolishly lost, due to being blind by the word called 'love'

That's a story for another time.

For now, she felt so lost and the more she look at her son, the more she get this feeling that if she didn't act fast, what she has been afraid of, might happen.

She look exhausted and began to question her destiny. Why her?

Love took everything from her and the only fruit of her sacrifice was being threatened to be taken away.

Why is life planning to turn her to an empty shell?

Just how did they expect her to survive without her baby with her.

She didn't know what came over her, but she began to subconsciously muttered, "he's my son"

"I gave birth to him"

"He's not a property to be hijacked"

"No one can take him away from me"

She continued to push and pull the bed and those mutters were like a lullaby she had no idea she was singing.

Mel has been living each day in fear and it's beginning to traumatize her more than before.

She had began to experience tons of nightmare about how her son was taken away and she never get to see him again.

It was at this same position that Amy met met her.

The door flung open.

A breathless young lady came into view. She was putting on a black leggings and brown coat.

Her raven black hair cascaded behind her and to cut the introduction short, she was a real beauty with light brown eyes and full pink lips.

The sound of her bag hitting the floor was heard as she threw it aside and rushed towards Mel.

She hugged her from the side and couldn't help but breathe heavily. She knew how Mel turn like when she had her nightmare and how she look like her soul left her body whenever anything life threaning happen to the boy.

She knew she would meet her like this and has been running like hell to come and comfort her.

Mel continued to swing the bed and still muttering to herself.

"Mel, he's asleep. Let's go have a talk." Amy said, patting her hair.

As if she just realized Amy's presence, she blinked twice and sobbed.

"You silly! Didn't I tell you to keep calm that I'm going to find you another job. How dare you worry!" Amy ranted and reached out to pull Mel's hand from the bed.

"Enough now. He look fast asleep." She added and Mel let go.

"What happened?" She asked.

"I mistakenly have an argument with a man who turns out to be the real owner of the mall." She explained and would have said more, but Amy never judge her.

She never blames her or try to scold her for overreacting when it comes to her son, because she knew better than anyone, why her friend was like this.

She was involved in a deep mess.

One wrong move and the baby is gone. That alone could make someone go insane.

She live each day in fear. She suspect everyone that approaches her.

Amy knew that if she wasn't there for her, Mel would have lost her mind.

"We will pull through this. In a few years, he will be all grown. Let's endure till then, okay?" Amy held her face to make her look into her eyes.

"You're crying." Mel said, seeing Amy's eyes glittering with tears.

"I'm sad when you're sad. Be strong and I will be strong with you. That's the only way to strive hard and come out victorious." Amy said and Mel nodded her head.

"I will start looking for another job tomorrow." Mel said Amy smiled at her.

"That's the spirit, girl. I will call my boss and tell him I might be taking the week off. Let's hustle for it this week." She said and Mel could only nod her head.

She's always grateful for having such a wonderful friend.
