Chapter Forty Two

Endless thoughts were running through my mind. Too many to try to single out and analyze. Or over-analyze as I tend to do, but honestly, who wouldn't with all this.

We seemed to sit there in silence for awhile each lost in our own train of thought. Until there was a bright flash from one of the picture frames on the wall beside us. Dimtiri instantly jumped up and ran to the wall of frames. I couldn't see what he was seeing, but I could see the muscles tense up on his back. Turning back to me he said "Don't move. I will be right back." And then he vanished.

Well of course I'm now on edge. He said those empty frames were a form of security and there was obviously something that flashed in one of them and now he is gone. It's like, noone wants to be left alone during a possible threat. I don't even know how to defend myself in these types of situations. There's this power I'm supposed to possess, but I can't really tap into that because I literally have no idea how.
