Andy sighed. "Well, what about the Luna's previous injuries?"

Yohan was silent for a while and eventually said, "I taught Eva to do that. Her mind regressed to when she was five after she was hurt, so I kept teaching her how to fight back—to make the people hurt her pay!

"Since Yvie fed her moldy bread and caused her to suffer from food poisoning, I thought Eva should spike her drink with honey since she's allergic to it, so that she embarrasses herself in front of the whole pack.

"She threw away the puppy Eva was raising, so I made sure she was infertile. And she keeps playing the piano in front of Eva to make her feel inferior, so I destroyed her career."

Hearing those words, so venomous like needles dipped in wolfsbane and thrusted into my eardrums, I could feel my own heart breaking.

Andy sighed again. "Aren't you worried she'll find out and hate you for it?"

There was another brief silence, and Yohan shrugged. "She'll never catch on, and this is the last time. Once I sweet-talk Eva, I'll anoint Yvie as my Luna with the grandest ceremony to make it up for her."

Standing outside the door, I clenched my knuckles, my own nails digging into my palm.

I came just to ask if there were ways to remove the scars on me as I was worried Yohan wouldn't like them.

Now, I felt an invisible hand squeezing my heart, hurting me so much I couldn't even breathe.

I had no idea when I left, only that I woke up to my phone beeping.

It was Yohan.

"Sorry, babe. I can't come home tonight—pack business. Take your medicine and get better soon."

Even now, he still wouldn't forget to feed me the suppressants.

Tears quietly rolled down my cheeks, and the womb I lost suddenly hurt endlessly.

I suddenly remembered how devastated I was in the month after I learned I was left barren, and Yohan had kissed my belly countless times, holding me and comforting me. "It doesn't matter if we have a cub, Yvie. You're the only mate for me."

And then to apologize to Eva, he cut my face seven times and so deeply that he reached bone.

I only knew then that the sweetness I felt was a lie.

Wiping my tears, I pulled out my communication device to access a frequency I hadn't accessed for the longest time.

Once it got through, I said, "Father, I'll return to the Bloodmoon Kingdom and become the Alpha."
