Chapter Thirty-Five

March rolled around so quickly that it made my head spin. If it weren't for Derrick helping me with the dresses, I never would have pulled the project prom dress off. Derrick would sew while I stitched on gems and did fittings and alterations. We completed ten prom dresses and had a week to spare before the big day. It may not seem like much, but Derrick and I made around twenty-seven hundred dollars. We opened separate checking and savings accounts, as Derrick had suggested during Christmas break. So we split the money and put it into our savings accounts.

"Dad called and said they had gotten a call from the realtor. It seems we have four potential buyers for the house. They will be coming home to stay for a while until the bidding war ends," Derrick said as he sat beside me on the couch.

"Maybe we should have gotten the three-bedroom apartment instead. How are we going to explain our living arrangements now,"
