"Don't you dare, Laura," Luciano barked before he could even stop himself.

The threat tore out of his mouth in a moment of pure panic, and the second the words left him, Rosa turned her head slowly to look at him. The tiny flicker of hope in her eyes—the hope that Laura was just a bitter liar—vanished completely.

Seeing the light drain from her face made Luciano realize exactly how badly he had just made things worse. He squeezed his eyes shut, cursing violently under his breath.

  • Not Yours To Claim, My Mafia Ex   Chapter Five Hundred Twenty Two

"Don, three of our major shipments were intercepted last night," Luca said, his voice taut with suppressed anger. "Half our men are locked up on whatever charges the cops could fabricate, and the street gangs are pushing hard into our turf. It's turning into a war out there."Luca kept his posture rigid, standing firmly across the mahogany desk. He needed the Don to listen, but he kept his head clear—he knew the boundary, and he knew better than to cross it. "We need your order to strike back, sir. The city is watching."For weeks, Luciano had been like this— completely detached, absent from meetings and unresponsive at home. The entire Famiglia was beginning to feel the vacuum. Rivals could smell blood in the water, and the organization was losing ground by the day.Luciano didn't look at him. He sat there with a dark, hollow expression, his eyes red and his clothes disheveled, hair messily falling over his forehead. He leaned back in his leather chair, propping his boots up on the ma

"Rosie, what are you doing?" he hissed under his breath, taking swift, heavy strides across the floor to reach her side.Rosa didn't answer. She kept her back turned, her hands moving fast as she pulled her clothes off the hangers and packed them alongside Renzo's.Luciano’s jaw clenched. He darted a quick glance toward the bed, where Renzo was sitting tucked in the far corner, completely absorbed in the television. Turning back to Rosa, Luciano reached out and grabbed her wrist, stopping her mid-motion just as she tried to lay another folded sweater into the suitcase.Rosa’s head snapped toward him, her glare burning with pure anger. She tried to yank her hand out of his grip, but he held fast, pulling her close until there was barely any space between them."Don't do this, Rosie," he rasped, his voice breaking as the panic leaked through.Rosa stared back at him, her gaze completely drained of warmth—dead, cold, and empty."Let go of my hand, Luciano," she said, her tone unnaturally

He squeezed his eyes shut, cursing violently under his breath."Baby, please... don't listen to her," he pleaded, reaching for her as he tried to repair the damage he had just caused. "Just go to our bedroom, and I'll handle this. I'll throw this woman out of our home myself.""You were the one who brought her here, Luciano," Rosa whispered, her bottom lip trembling as she pulled back from his touch."I know," he said through gritted teeth, clenching his empty hand and glaring at Laura with raw hatred. "And now I regret every single second of it."Rosa didn't look at him

"Rosie, she's talking nonsense," Luciano said immediately, stepping in front of Laura to block her view."Oh, come on, Luciano. How long were you planning to hide it from her?" Laura asked, keeping her tone soft and reasonable, as if she were giving friendly advice instead of blowing up their lives. "It was going to come out eventually anyway. You can't run from it forever, so we might as well get it over with today."Luciano turned on Laura, his shoulders locking tight. "Shut up, Laura. Keep pushing me, and I'll make sure you never speak again."The way he said it—low and deadly quiet—made Laura flinch and step back against the vanity.Rosa stood rooted to the doorway. Her eyes moved from the smirk on Laura's face to the rigid line of her husband's back, then back again."Why are you so sure about this?" Rosa asked Laura. Her voice didn't rise; it just went flat. "Why are you so certain Luciano had anything to do with my parents' car crash?"Before Laura could answer, Luciano grabbed

"No," Luciano said instantly. Before she could draw another breath, his hand shot out, capturing her wrist and pulling her flush against his chest. His arm wrapped around her waist like a band of iron, holding her so close she could feel the frantic, erratic thudding of his heart."Nothing and no one is more important than you, Rosie," he growled into her hair, his voice thick with a raw, desperate certainty. In that single fraction of a second, the fog in his mind cleared completely. The burden of protecting Reid’s unborn child paled in comparison to the absolute terror rising in his chest. He had survived five agonizing years without her; if she walked out that door tonight, it would finish him.He would find another secure house for Laura. He would assign a full guard detail to ensure Reid's legacy stayed safe. But as for Laura's role in destroying their past? That reckoning could wait until she delivered the child.Right now, he wasn't letting Rosa go. Not again.Luciano released R

Luciano raked a hand through his hair in frustration as he stared at the door his wife had just slammed shut."How can she talk to you like that, Luciano?" Laura asked from the bed, clutching the sheet to her chest. Her bare shoulders and back were fully on display as she sat upright, but Luciano's burning eyes only flared with irritation as he glared at her face."She can say whatever she wants to me, Laura. She is my wife."Laura flinched, burning with jealousy at the weight he put on those three words."But it's your house first," Laura coaxed, her voice soft and soothing. "You make the decisions here. She has to accept that."Luciano’s scowl only deepened. "It is her home, and what she says is the final verdict. Do not ever cross her again if you want to stay out of trouble."Without another word, he turned and walked out, leaving her alone. He headed down the hall to find Rosa. Before he could reach the stairs to their bedroom, he caught sight of her in the kitchen. She was standi

Just as Luciano turned the corner, Rosa arrived at the other end of the hall. She saw his retreating back, but at that exact moment, Luciano turned around. Rosa froze.Pure, cold fear gripped her.
