"Nolan, are you there?" Carla asked at the other side of the line to be sure that Nolan was listening. She was so excited to share what she considered to be very good news.

"What the f*ck do you want?" He hissed in annoyance.

"I don't have all day, spill!" Carla could tell that he was not in the mood. It was even better to tell him when he was angry. Everyone knew how he acted when he was pissed.

"It's about Layla.." she began as she swirled the glass of wine she was holding.

"What about Layla?" Nolan asked, suddenly becoming interested at the mention of Layla.

"You know she's pregnant right?" Carla smiled as she went straight to the point. She would have loved to say it straight to his face, but neither was he home when she went there and he also left the office in a hurry.

The enthusiasm within her couldn't wait till they met.

Nolan's jaw worked as he remained quiet, it seemed as if he was the only one who was left in the dark, even Carla knew about Layla's pregnancy.
